Until this period of 'absence' Lawson was doing exactly as expected a reliable scorer with only three lasts in over 40 rides
-
Which is exactly why they should have gone one league this year without the "GP Stars"... they're just not replaceable when they get injured, where as if a Lawson or Bomber got injured it'd be far easier to tempt a Lahti/Bellago level rider over for cover. Still, they've made their bed and now they have to lie in it.
-
Big changes would have had to be made though averages don’t change much during season.’

Good to see a club doing some market research.. I hope they don't prevent Scunthorpe finding a Guest...

I have been a massive speedway fan for more years than I care to remember and would always defend the sport to the hilt but even I am now starting to have serious doubts. I subscribe to BSN and watched last night's BV versus Northampton fixture. Ended up watching to heat 10 and then found something else to do as I was literally bored to tears. Yes, the opposition were poor and BV are so good on their own track but as far as entertainment goes I'd give it no more than two out of ten. I also watched the GP at the weekend and found myself running on through each race after a couple of laps and this is something I would definitely not have done a couple of years ago. Anyway, back to our leagues. When I check the BSN schedule I have to confess that I am usually disappointed when the next fixture is a Premiership one. I just find most of them pretty tedious, same teams, same riders and run of the mill affairs. The Championship however, is a different kettle of fish. More teams etc and I just find the whole league more refreshing. Give me Plymouth versus Berwick or Oxford versus Edinburgh any day of the week compared to Sheffield versus Leicester or Kings Lynn versus Northampton. In summing up I genuinely hope that the BSPL find a way to make one league work next year with a much more varied fixture list. Belle Vue riding at Glasgow, Ipswich riding at Plymouth etc really does whet the appetite. Much better promotion of the sport is required and costs must be kept under control. If this means no more GP riders etc then so be it.

To get better its going to require someone coming in who's willing to lose 100k per annum to put a far better team together or get some really good sponsors in to underwrite the 100k. It looks like there's definately a core fan base to build on but to get anywhere they would need to replace Klindt with Anders Thompson, Zagar with Jepsen Jensen and Batch with Beau Bailey or similar, all of which would probably require 12-20k a meeting to underwrite granted that would be part netted off by the existing three leaving. -
There was a shovel incident with Stoney and Anders but that was at Sheffield in the PLRC. I can remember something in a Mavericks meeting but I thought it was a broom? No idea who though. Some great ones there - Scotty also put his bike under the ambulance at Stoke giving it too much up the hill back to the pits after a fall in the race. That Will Beverage and Mick Powell incident was a shocker, ruined his career.

I think though with at least three of the Northampton team if they pop out in front they are fine but if they are behind come the exit on second bend lap one you can fill your program in. Granted he's not the best manager but he has been handed the worst team this year and ditto 2026, in both years it doesn't help there's near zero replacement options so the riders in question can coast along knowing they are bullet proof. -
Unless Mayfield have an ace up their sleeve, I am guessing that Ipswich will continue with Lawson. Hopefully they can find a way to get the best out of him for the cup final... Any news on King's return from injury?

Odds On started following Belle Vue -V- Northampton
-
so who was happy with the result?... i doubt the Belle Vue promoters as it would of cost a fortune with that tally of home points....Belle Vue fans, good home win but the the lack of real close racing was at a bare minimum....BSN viewers, as above....Foxes promoters and fans, poor display by the team.

Lynn got 37.

The poll was to ask fans about an alternative race-night for re-arranged meetings. Both are re-arranged meetings. Berwick was postponed in April to enable the BSN Series meeting against Plymouth to take place; Poole was postponed because of the football World Cup. Wednesdays were proving fruitless, especially since Poole are riding on six successive Wednesdays from next week and they have priority on Wednesdays. It's clearly allowed in any case. Poole have been riding on a Good Friday ever since they joined the Championship.

It would be easier to find out why so many still closely follow the sport, but don't see a UK domestic meeting as worth attending... As an example. The GP's showed that there is a decent audience still out there for the sport in Manchester.. BV followers who were happy to pay circa £140, as a minimum, for two evenings of Speedway... But don't see UK domestic Speedway as something worth regularly attending.. The question that should be asked is... "Why don't so many people, who follow Speedway, attend UK meetings?"... Also. "Why don't the 3,000 or so Aces followers at the GP's attend the NSS regularly?".. Another example? "Where are the 5,000 who attended the PO Final at Ipswich every week of the season?"... There is a market of Speedway followers out there much bigger than the numbers who do attend.. Just getting them back engaged and attending would solve a myriad of issues...

I’ve said numerous times I want Kurtz to win the title As good as Zmarzlik is I would like someone else to win it and if it can’t be Bewley this season then Kurtz What I stand by is that Kurtz will not give 100% if he has a GP coming up…. You can say that’s fair enough and I wouldn’t necessarily disagree He is a lightning starter so may well score big points before a GP when he gates… he isn’t going to bust a gut before a gp and try hard when missing the gate Look at the Northampton meeting last week as prime example I just think riders like Bewley Doyle and Holder if in Kurtz position would still ride hard for their clubs I’m not saying Kurtz is right or wrong but you have to admit it happens

Another pathetic showing by the Foxes, but not as pathetic as King's Lynn or Ipswich there. That should be some comfort but it really isn't. Oh well, the cards have been dealt and that's that for this season. Hopefully things will be better next year! -

When you're not being paid it must be hard to be positive and motivated (especially if you're not not known for a jolly demeanour ) -
You've gone completely mad... but at least you're spelling my name correctly and for that I truly thank you 👍
-
Why not have just given Heat 13 to one of the reserves? This guy is the World number 2 and rightly so he has earned it. As good as he is i find him a fustrating rider

In fairness, they're probably not visiting because a fair proportion are now 6 feet under... I think they need to focus on finding out why no newcomers want to visit. -
Play off for third place is 8pm on Saturday.

We will have too see where his commitment lies if he does make it.Will he commit to UK Speedway or will he do a Woffy and Lambert.

What is a yawn fest is your constant eagerness to jump on here with your anti BV rhetoric Poole couldnt escape it by dropping to the Championship. A bad meeting here is the exception not the rule, ive seen yawn fests at your track where both teams have been competitive, i think the anti BV brigade headed by yourself and Chun have,nt got over the fact we actually got this stadium built, if other councils around the country actually backed their speedway clubs maybe the sport could actually have the stadia that people expect today. As for the skills they were certainly missing a Foxhall recently wernt they? Funny how the sport is massive in Poland with not a "technical track" in sight that term is used by those with constant gate and go tracks. Maybe Luke Littler should drop his standard to stop darts becoming a "yawn fest" 😂
