BERWICK v GLASGOW (CL) Saturday, June 13th (7pm)
Neila replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No, it was a comets away meeting, something you'd not understand as you don't travel to away meetings 🤣 hopefully catch up with you in a few months when the Comets travelling fans come to Plymouth -
Doyle already replaced with Tungate in Sweden.. They seem to replace riders a lot easier than the UK can..

No, the last of the travellers left Sunday. -
Name me a 'big fish' that isn't losing money this season. Poole opt for Championship racing for primarily financial reasons ie not losing money. Not owning their own stadium Poole get no revenue from any stadium outlets. Their income derives solely from admissions, sponsorship and advertising by providing successful, trophy-winning teams within a financial budget, whilst attracting decent crowds. Simples. Promoter Matt Ford has recently stated publicly that Premiership racing might only be an option for Poole if there is a decent TV contract plus being allowed to race at home on their established racenight ie Wednesdays.

It’s not rocket science the Poole track is awful …. I’m an Ipswich fan and ours is no better…. Just the simple fact is Poole fans can’t accept it They always build a title side and they are happy being a big fish in a small pond and the crowd don’t care about the racing it’s only about winning Poole should be in the top league but they don’t want to be while they can just scoop up all the talent in the lower league … you would think the fans would want more after glory years they had

Do you think Doyle will have a better away average than Bewley would have done? I’m not sure

Said it from day one, they are hopeless, it's proven by the signings we made at the start, all the excuses about it being last minute, what a load of dross, they seem to think a new streaming service and a scoreboard that still isnt there would appeal to all the supporters, cracks are starting to show already....Edward Kennett, and if that wasn't bad enough, they couldn't convince Jason back over when it was obvious he would of returned, that's not sour grapes to Belle Vue, great bit of business by them and i hope Doyley goes well for them. The Jepperson signing, and don't forget the failure to get Thorsell over the line. Just Dreamers Full Stop.

What were his track performances like this season so far, up until the recent accident?

I like most are thankful Mayfield brought the club & they do have a free pass this year, however that won’t be extended into 2027. Your point on Foxhall feeling flat this year I fully agree with you it does. As for Doyle if Ipswich knew he was interested in coming back to the the uk I’d have looked at a double change possibly to get him back at Foxhall. -

You’re absolutely right about the number of missing weeks. But also consider that other teams also had fixtures on the race nights you have quoted (although not all) which impacts the ability to run fixtures. Clearly, an increase of teams would help (even if only two) to provide more regular fixtures in both league and cup competitions as well as the possibility of each club running one individual event per season. Unfortunately at present, there continues to be an impasse between the (minority) professional promotions who would go with one full time league and the (majority) hobbyist promoters whos intransigence continues to hold back any chance of UK speedway moving forward. -
Maybe I'm being ungrateful here but I really struggle to think of anything positive to say about the new era. I've been to Foxhall a couple of times this season already but the vibe is just off imo, Too much decline in a short period of time imo. To me it feels like Buster Chapman (Pre 2026) is in charge who's put out a team just to make the numbers up on a tight budget with a Team Manager (Paul Hurry) who couldn't pull a leaf off a tree.

But if you're going to have Mondays and Thursdays as race nights, have Mondays and Thursdays as racenights, not just the odd one here and there. Let's take Sheffield as an example, who race on Thursdays. They opened their season on April 2nd, and were back the next week. Away on the 16th, but nothing on the 23rd or 30th of April. Home again on May 7th and May 14th, but nothing on May 21st or May 28th, although they did run on Bank Holiday Monday (25th) to cover one of those. That's potentially four lost meetings. June, July, and August look much better, perhaps because of the imbalance between Monday and Thursday tracks, but even then July 2nd is empty. A total of 5 missing Thursdays. For a Monday track like Belle Vue, it's a bit more stark. They opened on March 16th and skipped a week before league racing began, running 2 weeks before taking a week off. They raced on April 20th, then took another week off, had a home meeting and an away meeting on the next 2 Mondays, then another week off, another week on, another 2 weeks off. June picks up well after that but that first date in July is missing again, followed by a home and an away and another blank week. August has 2 home meetings and then 2 weeks off, before coming back for the Bank Holiday. So that's 9 Mondays off! -

Could Zagar be brought in when he is able to ride again? Or perhaps Jeppesen, if Zagar returns to Northampton? Quite handy, having a B team.
