Now the 2025 season is coming to an end whats peoples thoughts on whats best for next season.
-
Why has there been no competition, though? Is it because Bartosz is just that much better than anyone else? People talk about the era of Crump, Adams, Pedersen, etc. as some kind of golden age, and they were all great riders, but you could make the same argument. Gollob only won a single world title (beating Hampel) - did he only win because he had no competition? Hancock won 2 world titles with Kasprzak and Jonsson behind him each time, hardly bulletproof. I think it's very harsh to crab Bartosz for not having any competition when this is his 10th season as a GP regular, and he's had zero competition aside from Laguta until now? Was 3x World Champion Woffinden not competition in 2020 when he walloped him by 16 points?

BZ, for me, would be in the Fundin, Craven, Briggs, Mauger, Olsen, Collins, Penhall, Nielsen, Gundersen, Crump,, Hancock and Pedersen pantheon of "all time greats" from the 50's onwards.. You could drop BZ into any era and he would be very, very special... I remember ten years or so BZ being marked out as a future World Champ.. They weren't wrong were they?

Under the old systems it seemed like all the points were kind of contained within the race... no going back to see who beat who in previous races and then reaching for a conversion chart to translate race points scored to position finished in to series points gained... I maintain the only way in which the current scoring system works is with 1 race containing all 16 riders over 80 laps... it's ridiculous!

King's Lynn Stars 2025

That's what happened with Victor P at Edinburgh - the regs simply state 6 meetings and no longer 3 home/3 away.... -
Have to disagree mate in past eras especially before the GP,s where every rider had to qualify through difficult rounds and there was far more hard riding opponents wouldnt just open the door, take out Brady theres been no competition apart from Laguta for one season. Its about opinions but the sport today is far removed from what it has been, in any sport you cant compare different times. Usyk has acheived more than Ali was he greater, could each have adapted to different eras? I think when talking about sporting greats we have to look at their particular era.

Although the racing didn't live up to expectations there was still a fair bit of drama towards the end. Have to feel for Max after 3 really hard fought wins, at least he walked away seemingly unscathed though, could've easily been more serious. Fair play to Brady for taking it to Bart like he has, it would be great if the showdown in Vojens can go close to the final before being decided, ideally Bart not qualifying and Brady just scraping the overall win by the odd point, perfect. Also well done to Dan Bewley, Freddie handed him 3rd place on a plate tonight but he still had to graft to make it to the final. Back in November, I think it was, I put 2 e/w bets on the Series winner, Brady @ 40/1 and Dan @13/2, here's hoping.

I'm sure I could fathom it out if I bothered to look into it. I just haven't. Presumably it's always been like that anyway with regards to semi final qualification etc., even going back to the A, B, C, D final. For example, today Doyle and Michelsen both scored 10, but in that old system one would have been in the A final and one would have been in the B final. For me, I was never that keen on the race points counting as GP points. I felt it made the final less interesting.

This is the problem, we as speedway fans, not even newbies can't fathom out the scoring system, it's just too fluid with far too many permutations going into the last races, you have to sit there with a conversion chart! Should be fun and games trying to work out the last GP if it's not a straight first and 2nd!

Lindgren didn't get an "extra point". He finished 11th. The rider who finishes 11th gets 6 points. You get points for the position you finished in the meeting. It's not hard. If a football team wins 6-0 do they get 6 points? No. they get 3. If a tennis player wins 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 do they win 16-12? No. they win 2-1. Scoring systems are what they are and that is what you ride/play to. Personally, I like the A, B, C, D final that they used to have. But at least this way the winner of the final gets the most points - which didn't always happen when it was based on race points. With regards to countback, I've no idea how it works. I'm assuming Lindgren finished above Kvech because he beat him when they raced? Is that correct? Or is it because he had a race win? However it is worked out, Lindgren finished the meeting ahead of Kvech so gets the points for that position. Easy peasy.

Yep, barely anything in it. And, as someone on here pointed out a while back, Bartosz seems to focus his attention primarily on his closest challenger (Kurtz, in this case). If the sprint race didn't exist, or 1st place counted double every other week, or finals in Poland only had 3 laps, or virtually anything else, I'm almost certain Bartosz would adapt and ride to those conditions. He's phenomenal and so is Kurtz for pushing him. I genuinely think Kurtz could be a big player for a long time.

It seems they are making a concentrated effort to diminish the championship, while inferring they are doing the opposite. I watched my local team at home today beaten 2-0m deservedly so as they were crap. Not only because they didn't make the effort, but also because they didn't seem interested in making the effort. Watched this GP and they same thoughts entered my head One of the reasons you know the GP's are diminished is, back in the day, you would get 40 to 50 pages of comment regarding a meeting, now you're struggling to get 10 pages. Says it all really, when folk don't have anything to say

BERWICK v WORKINGTON (Saturday, Aug 30 - 7pm)

I’m ten minutes inland from Berwick and the rain has been mild! We brought the washing in because it is a bit damp. If the track was on my doorstep could a meeting have gone ahead? Yes!! But I’m self employed and work outside I’m at the same mercy as the promoters are. The forecast has been useless this and last year. I’ve lost many days of income because the forecasters have got it wrong. The prediction for tonight was awful and the correct decision was made, hopefully saving Workington quite a lot of money and I’d hope any team would do the same for us. It’s one thing to miss out on income because of the weather and another for it to cost you. -
