Insufficient number of riders at a similar capable (safe) level for this to be possible. Currently average is circa 3 double ups per team.

This so: 7 from SGP 1 from SEC 5 from GP Challenge 3 WC's The wildcard is to counteract injuries that put people out of the GP Challenge. Imagine if Fricke and Lambert collide in Heat 1 in Vojens, both out of the GP & the challenge a fortnight later as Thomson makes the Vojens final. Suddenly two guys would be out of 2026 through a matter of timing. Admittedly, most of the time those WC's would end up going to the Huckenbeck's & Kvech's of this world but it helps prevent the above, or Zmarzlik being out of the 2026 & 27 World Championship if he get's carted into in an Extraliga meeting in May next year and is out for 2026.

Interesting to see the venue is titled Manchester Belle Vue Sports Village and Belle Vue Leisure Centre . Guess only speedway folk know the place by its sub title NSS which is not good for attracting new customers.

Come on! Have you not seen the Bend 2 Barmy Army! It's everything UK Speedway is 😂

for 2026 i think it will be 2 leagues and if it is then limit to only one double up rider per team as a drastic action to make teams evenly match it might be worth thinking about bringing back rider control, but with the human rights act that probably wont happen instead of guests every team can sign squad riders from abroad but to save costs, each club can invest in a club bike and when these riders are called upon they can use the club bike and club mechanic, like poland do let every rider have practice before the meeting so that the tracks are race ready from heat one and all riders have a chance of finding the set up early, should stop these batterings if the away team can find the set up early. id drop the rising star scheme personally, but if they are to keep it then i think the other reserve must be a british u24 rider they are just some basic changes, there is obviously a lot more needed but i will leave that debate to people that know what they are talking about

The guys just need to stay safe & not take any risks if this goes ahead. looking at the forecast it looks doubtful if this will be on, if it is postponed when is this going to be run by Monday. Also given the Ipswich home meeting must be doubtful with the forecast in this part of the world this might also need rescheduling before Monday.

I agree. I've just come back from a weekend there. One of the most striking differences is the age profile of the crowd - but also that the older generation also join in with the chanting and scarf waving. Was the racing better at the league match better than here? Probably not
-
Yes, agree with you there. The tribal thing with team and supporter connection is fundamental to working class sports such as football. That level of passion will never be witnessed currently in British speedway which relies (due to rider shortage) on guests and doubling up, thus diluting the rider/team connection.

I’d be more happy if Sheffield rode that night this was called off. Like they did against us in the final when it suited them.

Speedway in Poland is the complete opposite of the uk. It’s a proper professional sport that brings in crowds sponsors & tv money. No Micky mouse rules guest feats etc. It allows a proper connection between the team & the supporters giving the tribal aspect. This leads to the chanting & people wanting to wear the club scarfs etc Its everything uk speedway should be.

Great commentary you provided about your weekend. Any tips or suggestions you can offer about arranging this type of trip would be greatly appreciated. Send me a message if you get a chance as I cannot make it this year but hopefully can fulfil the dream of going to a weekend of Polish speedway in 2026.

Two good guests, would not surprise if Ipswich won. I think it is ok having guests for a re-arranged fixture.
