2025 Torun SON and SON 2
SPEEDY69 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Wasn't solely the atmosphere at all though. As I said, the production/running of the event for fans at the stadium was very poor. Forgot to mention GB - Bewley didn't ride like I expected him to but Lambert was ok and Brennan gave it a go. -

Oh absolutely, it's a publicity thing at the end of the day. Strange from a sporting perspective at least, alas... -
A bit like the AFA. I have been many brilliant meetings at both tracks. The world cup meeting at Poole was amazing. is it the material used or track prep or quality of rider I dont know. Bomber Harris may know as he has had some very poor meetings at Kings Lynn this year and at Poole. It was only 2018 which is not long ago that he pulled off an amazing last lap pass on Jason Doyle to get us to the final that year, he couldnt do that now.

Is it that strange though when you see how SGP works, money, money, money and Monster is the sponsor, who sponsors Tai? Oh yeah! Who got most social media and news media clicks from a crash that went beyond speedway, and they probably think they can create a ‘comeback story’ from it! I think it’s a farce personally but then I’ve thought that for a few years! -

Woffinden is lucky here I think, given his performance the last series he was in. Doyle has not had many wildcards previously and did show he can make the finals of GPs even though he was badly injured this season. Fricke is always going to be around the 'not just made the top 6/7/8' I think. The format and any qualification changes may bring some interest otherwise I think there'll be little drama on show. -

Gavan replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Wouldn’t have had a meltdown if he wasn’t selected behind the Russians or Fricke or Michelsen or Vaculik ….. however if someone like Becker was in ahead of him then yes How the hell is Tai in there??? Farcical Left out last season …. Has a serious crash that ended his season early So in what way is he a better selection than Michelsen or Vaculik or even Kvech? Wasn’t good enough in 2024 in arguably a weaker line up … has missed a whole season so who knows how good he will be …. Awful choice -

"Shall we get a new face in? Someone young, exciting, fresh or should we stick with an old face, someone we at least know will be challenging at the top end?" "What about if we just did neither?" What a strange 3rd pick. -

It’s a shame Doyle is in as I was looking forward to Gavans meltdown -

Agreed! I would however say this is the strongest line up in years for a SGP series -

I think Michelsen can count himself rather unlucky. The Tai one is very odd. -

Yeah that’s interesting! -
Problem is it's a team sport using sub contractors metaphorically speaking . I've been in rider negotiations where they were demanding a certain palce in the pits ! It was rediculous what goes on with these so called "star riders"but it's hard to resist if you have someone who can knock in double figures week in week out . I've seen so many that would ride at a training school with ice on the puddles end up refusing to ride after a light shower of rain a few years later . I don't see anyway of reining the riders in unless there is a true concensus of agreement between the promoters and the govt body , I won't be holding my breath on that one !

As harsh as this sounds, you chose the wrong event if you wanted an atmosphere, I think people need to realise what events to go to and not to go to in Poland. League matches (especially derbies) should be on a bucket list, next, any SGP event in Poland (worst is Warsaw, you want a club based one) and then next would be the Polish individual / SWC, last on the list would have been SoN. Im glad you enjoyed your weekend though and it didn’t ruin it, it’s a lovely country with nice people and great food 👌🏻I hope you do decide to go back and maybe visit a better event! - Today
