Surely it's gamble worth taking because the current rock bottom attendances need a major boost. I think those who watch speedway nowadays will stay loyal whatever. And the only way to attract the 50/50 followers back through the turnstiles is via a more varied fixture list. Meeting the same teams 4 or more times each season just breeds complacency. Not that the riders care, of course, but Joe Public needs more variety.!!!!

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

if it is one big league i would highly doubt it would be with seven mean teams. as i replied to that original post that is a MASSIVE assumption that all of those riders would drop GB. -

The format works so no need to change that, the one thing that needs addressing over the winter months is the track preparation and that goes for the Grand Prix's as well, the tracks are atrocious and serve up little more than follow the leader, speedway is in the entertainment game and these events should be the prime events for the world to look at and watch, now if us hardened speedway "fans" find them boring then how do we think "newbies" to the sport feel?? Last night the track was that slick i would imagine even with the very small crowd they would of covered the shale costs! -

I Don’t know for sure- only themselves and WBD are privy to that information, but a rumour was that it was their choice to do it from London. -
As it is a extra competition as most meetings were contested early season then it is fair to say the semi final and final should have been completed ages ago.

What's the reason behind Chris and Kelv not attending the meetings abroad this season ? -
From what I was told earlier today I believe Mr Tolley’s involvement at a club in 2026 will be a bit closer to his Midlands base
-
Simple answer would be the complete the BSN series sooner, especially as it was the season starting competition.

The latest issue coming from the club is that they are still obviously in debt but are having loans from various parties offering them the money, the issue comes with the city council who need to act as a guarantor. They don’t need to give any more but are reluctant to accept the guarantor venture due to not yet being provided the debt plan from Stal, Stal have one month to provide all documentation for the loans so the city will accept the guarantor status, only then will Ekstraliga provide their 2026 licence to run.

Point D It’s amateurish because Kelv and Chris sat in a London studio is amateurish. Should be at the track for the 4 meetings and with a commentary position right over the start line he surely could see by himself without waiting for the drone to fly away and a shot of the start line shown. He could also see the exclusion lights clearly. - Today

Doubt that would happen, there has been meetings in October as far as I can remember, used to be a Oct 31st cut off which was adhered to as I can remember going to a meeting on a Sunday at Poole that normally would have been rained off but they did sort it out after the rain had stopped and the meeting was run. They would not do that now as they can run meetings in November if needed.

Businesses exactly the same .... Those empty seats tell the organisers everything they need to know about their promotion and organisation of this event.... The same can be said about over here. Listening to those who are no longer attend, but still follow the sport closely, is far more important than the feedback of those who still do attend .. As there are many, many more of the former than the latter. -

There is simply no way that a semi final for the SoN should be in an empty stadium. Absolutely ridiculous. 😡 Any first time viewer will have been appalled, let alone us as speedway fans. Tickets should have been given out free to schoolkids, local residents, charities etc. While it wouldn't have created anywhere near a full house, it would still have looked better on tv than looking at the 50 fans that were there dotted around the stadium. Unacceptable. -

They should stick to the 4 man Team formula, even though the lesser Nations don’t have International standard riders their lesser riders are the same standard which produced some decent racing between them. This pairs Semi-Finals just need to be scrapped. -

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
1 valve replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I’m not trying to bombard you to change anything. Just trying to help you and others to appreciate the lack of riders available to enable one big league to have any kind of possibility of coming to fruition. To help further here below is a detailed explanation provided by RoundTheBoard earlier in this topic. “One big league, running on any racenight, would automatically rule out anyone who races in the Polish leagues. Gone would be: Max Fricke, Jack Holder, Brady Kurtz, Dan Bewley, Emil Sayfutdinov, Jaimon Lidsey, Josh Pickering, Ryan Douglas, Jason Doyle, Michael Jepsen-Jensen, Chris Holder, Tom Brennan, Luke Becker, Jan Kvech, Tobias Musielak, Nicolai Klindt, Matej Zagar, Keynan Rew, Ben Cook, Maciej Janowski, Rohan Tungate, Norick Blodorn, Francis Gusts. So that's 23 riders gone from Britain. So what will the Premiership bring to a new combined league? JUST ADAM ELLIS ! Every other rider who ride in the Premiership in 2025 (apart from Adam Ellis) doubled up into the Championship. We can't count them twice. So, the 5 teams joining the "One Big League" (Belle Vue, King's Lynn, Ipswich, Leicester, Sheffield) are bringing Adam Ellis to the party, but they need 5 x 7 = 35 riders. So these big 5 need to take 34 of the doubling up riders.... The remaining 9 championship clubs need 9 x 7 = 63 riders..... but 34 of them are not availsble because they can no longer double up. So suddenly we need a further 34 riders. Where are they coming from? We could look to the National League, but many of the NDL riders already double-up into the Championship, others are still only 15 years old, so even if we take every NDL rider right down to the lowest 3.00 newcomer, we still can't get close to filling 14 "One Big League" teams.” So whilst I understand that some may say my figure of 45 riders missing is too high as you can see (hopefully) see by adding those riders who double up and those riding on the continent who would need to give the UK a miss 45 is in truth slightly conservative. looking ahead - I would not be surprised if for 2026 we see a reduction of riders being allowed to double up via reduced team building averages in the championship. Eight teams in the top flight league and no NDL. Please note, that’s a prediction and not saying what I would do. That’s something entirely different. -
Thats the gamble You could recapture some lost support or it could drive away the little that is left......
-
In my opinion if Mr Tophat did take it over don’t have Mr Roger’s involvement in it because it will close end of season with him running things So my message being get rid run it yourself then speedway will stay
-
That's almost certainly one of the worst SON/SWC meetings I've ever had the misfortune to watch. Dreadful. My main takeaways from that were: a) don't host anything in Poland that doesn't directly involve Poland - who knew? b) don't host one of the flagship international meetings of the season in October - who knew? c) if you're going to televise a meeting in a 20,000 seat arena when there are 14 people in attendance, maybe don't continually show drone shots of said arena, highlighting the 19,986 empty seats. d) if the rules allow team managers to chop and change riders and gate positions at the drop of a hat, for christ's sake let the commentator know. I don't need to hear Kelvin telling us he "thinks" it's rider X or he's "fairly sure" Rider Y is on gate 1 - it's amateurish. Other than that, it wasn't bad, some decent racing.
