GP line-up for 2026
szkocjasid replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
When they first announced SGP2 before I read that it was just a new name for the U12s, I thought a competition for the 16th-31st best riders in the world would be interesting. Top 3 into the GPs? Winner of each round gets a wildcard in following GP? Probably fairer than SEC as Aussies & Yanks get a equal chance of qualifying. -

The rule is ANY rider who has a British Speedway established average can be considered a guest, so long as their converted average fits. For Premiership riders that only usually leaves a few possibilities such as covering for the very top riders as in this case. When you look at the other top averaged Championship riders they are mostly Redcar, Glasgow or Poole riders, none of which can be considered. The rest you would argue are not on a par with the top rider in the league at this time in Richard Lawson. Obviously the very top Premiership riders wouldn’t be eligible in any case not least their average would be hideously high. So Adam Ellis for Richard Lawson is one of the few situations this would work.

2025 Torun SON and SON 2
ShanoXtra replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
For anyone interested MM has given his first interview after Denmarks run in SoN, safe to say he wasn’t happy: "I'd rather not comment on that. looked like a fu****g clown or an idiot. I think that if the plan from the start was to keep me as a reserve, it was worth giving someone else a chance. It's possible that the things I managed to do this season with my team in Torun weren't enough to represent Denmark," -

Very sad news. Never saw him in the UK but saw him ride at Rosebank Speedway, New Zealand, a few times. RIP Ryan.

Personally, I blame the GP System. I honestly think that Speedway was a much better Sport to watch before the GP's started. I thought from the first time the GP System was brought in to existence, in Speedway that it would be the long, slow death knell of British Speedway. I believe that, desperately sadly, I have been proved right. A number of things have contributed to people's disillusionment with British Speedway. Firstly, the League system we have is challenging, to say the least, with the 'Play Off' system and fitting all the Meetings in before the end of the Season. Secondly, not all tracks have a 'One'Off' Individual Meeting - a source of great pleasure to the Supporters - those who pay to attend, by the way. Pairs Meetings, Four Team Tournaments are now, it seems, no longer fashionable and no longer exist. Thirdly, the Bikes are far and away too fast for the Tracks that the riders are expected to race on, resulting in more injuries. Said Tracks are STILL very similar to those Tracks back in the years Speedway started (1920's). Bikes and Accessories have moved forward with development, the Tracks have not. Finally, I believe that the introduction of the Four Valve Engine was another contributor to Speedway's demise. If only we could go back to 2 Valve engines, 'One Off'World Finals, Second Halves, no 'Play Off' so the Team that actually win the League really do win it. Integrity is important and folks don't like to be cheated of the fair and just result. I know most folk will think that I am talking nonsense to which I can only say - LOOK AT SPEEDWAY NOW AND LOOK AT SPEEDWAY THEN. There is a tremendous difference, and NOT for the better either. No the wonder people are walking away, the Price to go to a Meeting has risen enormously for the Meeting only, with no extras like the old Second Half. All of these things are contributors to the decline of our Sport.

Loktaev & Huckenbeck didn't turn up! 🤨 I like watching Buczkowski but the Gorzow track was never going to suit him and Pawełczak couldn't get to grips with it, less of a phenomenon at a confined space (Paluch quite the opposite!) Fair play to Brennan & Wozniak who kept it interesting for Bydgoszcz. Bydgoszcz will surely be promoted next year. With rumours of Ekstraliga movers Gorzow will again be in a relegation battle with Czestochowa I'd think.
