Come back Ace Pijper for '26, all is forgiven.
-
Certainly Harris suggested he had already signed for Glasgow and that it would be two leagues.
-
So if its postponed which could happen looking at weather forecast he may not be available.

A typical well meaning rule to try and even up the league more... And then also, typically in UK Speedway fashion, they eff it up by allowing the No1 pick to say "I'm not riding there"... (Which I get if offered more money and have local sponsors elsewhere).. In the US draft system, the bottom team gets several concessions from the teams who want their pick, should they not want to use that player .. Eg The team with the highest average last season would have needed to offer Birmingham either money or a rider/riders.. Instead we had Birmingham being out of their depth again which did them, nor Speedway, any favours . Basically. Either do it properly, or don't use it at all... Personally, out of their depth No7's do nothing for the sport, nor them, in any league ..

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
flagrag replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Question is with TNT currently not interested in negotiating a deal for British Speedway Premiership if the only available option is the closed network of BSN will sponsors be happy with this lower level of general exposure and also will fans be happy to pay an additional £350 a year to watch Premiership Speedway ? I know clubs that have streamed meetings this year have had less than 100 viewers on a PAYG model which is not cost effective -
They’re not owed a ride. It’s an opportunity they sign up for to have a team spot. That can be at any of the clubs in the top league and it’s known in advance. Don’t like it, don’t sign up. That’s not unfair in the slightest.
-
Don’t even know where to start with that. Yeah, let’s just agree to disagree and we’ll leave it at that.
-
I cant see how the league can remain the same ,with only 5 pos 6 in the so called top league you cannot run a league like that. For me it has to be one league 6 riders and two 2 pointers at the back. Building ave something like 37 i would guess . Any top boys left will go and ply their trades in poland and sweden. So what you will be left with is in effect good second string riders as per how the top league was, and a bunch of reserves and two pointers.
-
New Championship rule for 2026 which will mean the following riders will not being able to remain with their current championship clubs Dan Thompson Drew Kemp Danny King Nicolai Klindt Peter Kildemand Rule being brought in to assist the amount of young riders development e.g Cairns ,Rushen, Trigger,Bailey, Ace P , Hodder, Perry etc so basically are cutting out 2nd Heatleaders so youngsters will have at least ones less experienced rider in their races per meeting
-
Gusts would never be there.
-
Zach goes back on 27th.
-
Shame if true, his 7.34 avg would only go up. But the time might be right for him to take a plunge into Poland and Sweden whilst doing the premiership. would open the door to a big signing
-
Surely there must have be people somewhere that could make this venue work or has it been looked at already that i dont know about? If so sorry to go over old ground but it looks perfect venue for someone to try!!!

Disagree. The riders know what they’re signing up for. If you want a chance to ride in the top league then you enter the draft. If you’re drafted somewhere then you ride for the team who pick you. If you don’t like it, don’t enter the draft.

The trouble we have now is the result of the relaxing of the average conversion rate between the two leagues and doubling up becoming a free for all about 15 years ago. Before then there was a noticeable difference in standard between the leagues (all three leagues that is). Sounds like that one was driven by rider power, but the promoters also allowed it to happen. There’s now not enough riders of the standard of team spots available. I think this is half the problem, nobody wants the sport to be watered down. It feels like a necessary evil though, because those “good enough” riders just don’t exist in large enough quantities so we’re lumbered with the current incredibly flawed system.

Where’s this coming from?
-
Who was interviewing him?
-
Zach cook will not be at Poole next season not doing championship.
-
Riders that would fit in to that last spot. Joe Thompson Tate Zischke Fraiser Bowes Tobias Thompson Zane Kennedy Jye Etheridge Lasse Fredriksen Francis Gusts Mitch Mcdirmid Luke Killeen A new 5 point rider personally id be looking at Tate, Gusts, McDirmid from that list.
-
Would be happy with them 6, if we could Pry Zischke away from Workington that would be great! Shame Lewi doesn’t fit, Toby does but that would leave us a point under the limit.

A speedway race is the ideal sport for this short attention span, TikTok generation. The racing itself has always been the attraction, the convoluted rules that go with it are a massive turn off. The sport needs TV coverage. TV doesn’t need speedway. It’s on the people running the sport to make it a product a television company (ideally multiple) desires and wants to throw money at. Television puts out things people want to watch, it isn’t there to promote or sustain the sport. That’s the job of the promoters. TNT don’t want speedway. They had it, let it go and inherited it again as part of the Eurosport/Discovery deal. Meetings take too long to run. That’s a sport wide problem. Some of it is necessity, some could be improved upon. For the sake of the fan in the stadium and to make the sport more palatable for the TV. A highlights show could be very interesting, showcasing the best of the weeks racing. The hurdle there would be gaining permission of whoever has the right to film/broadcast meetings. Presumably BSN. They’d need to be paid well for it, because they’d basically be giving the best of their product away for free each week otherwise.

I often say that being a fan on the terraces at a tv meeting means you are effectively a TV extra, except you've paid for the privilege.

The scheme should be in the championship and it should be two riders to be honest. There is one promoter that wants two in the Premiership, which to be honest im not wholly against IF the riders were a good enough standard, which they aren’t. One thing I think should happen is there should be a bigger reduction in UK riders averages at the end of the season instead of the 2.5(?) percent. Even if it was a higher discount for riders under 24 to encourage teams to sign them.
