Hang on a minute, let's not blow too much smoke up the Poles bottoms... The fact is they have still only produced 3 world champions (ever), have won most of the team cups on their own tracks. even these under 23 (or is it 21) world beating reserves that we see disappear when they get older... where are the reserves of a few years ago now?

Polish teams have to have four Poles per team and not only easily comply but also have several replacements available to replace poor performers and injuries..

All of which will have been U21 at some stage...

An U21 system that brought so many riders through to World Class level, and made them so dominant as a nation, that the FIM had to change the World Cup format to give the others a chance...

Poland might only have had 3 Individual World Champs but as a nation have a strength in depth no other can compete with. .

With much of that strength in depth starting as U21 reserves...

Some, naturally will drop out by the way side,  but many come through..

And to a very elite level..

Let's look at the "Poles" in the Ekstraliga this year

Przedpelski    -    Club Man
Swidnicki    -    Shows promise
Holta        -    Norwegian
Miskowiak    -    Reserve
Kowalski    -    ?
Buczkowski    -    Journeyman
P Pawlicki    -    World Class
P Pawlicki    -    Club Man
Turowski    -    Reserve
Lotarski    -    Reserve
Lakhbaum    -    Reserve
Woryna        -    Club Man
Miedzinski    -    Journeyman
Szczepaniak    -    Journeyman
Klosok        -    LOL
Protasiewicz    -    Journeyman
Tudziez        -    Reserve
Dudek        -    World Class
Krakowiak    -    Shows Promise
Tonder        -    Reserve
Niedzwiedz    -    ?
Zmarzlik    -    World Class
Kasprzak    -    Club man
Wozniak        -    Club man
Karczmarz     -    Shows Promise
Bartkowiak    -    Reserve
Nowacki        -    ?
Kubera        -    Shows Promise
Kolodziej    -    Journeyman
Szlauderbach    -    Russian?
Smektala    -    Journeyman
Drabik        -    International Class
Chugunov    -    Russian
Janowski    -    World Class
Liszka        -    Reserve
Curzytek    -    ?
Hampel        -    Journeyman
Jamrog        -    Journeyman
Lampart        -    Shows Promise
Bober        -    ?

While the Polish league is without doubt the strongest league in the world there's an awful lot of dead Polish wood and unproven talent. I wonder how they manage to implement the " have to have four Poles per team" rule and still comply with European Law? That's probably been done to death somewhere else on these forums anyway

Isn’t or wasn’t Lahkbaum  a Russian ? Szlauderbach like Lahkbaum has a Germanic surname anyway. But that wouldn’t be unusual Hampel,Lampart or Glücklich do too

The Extraleague top 5 is so hard for the Polish riders coming out of 6 and 7 that they sometimes decide to ride in the E Winner league 1- Michael Gruchalski is an example, top 6/7 for Czestochowa last season has gone to Tarnow for 2020. Another rider i rate is Musielak riding for Torun this season. i agree there is also a lot of " journeyman" Poles in DIv 1

Some of your journeymen are not even mid twenties, and reserves are all U/21.Would like to see your definition of deadwood in GB speedway, must be about 70% or more IMO.

My general point is that the Polski's are not the all conquering nation producing world class riders off of a never ending production line that we are sometimes led to believe. The majority of the "Stars" in the Ekstraliga are foreigners
