Skidder1 7,637 Posted January 23, 2021 Promoters have the draft fixtures so they can check rider availability, not least their chosen/allocated 'rising star', before confirming them and making an announcement.

Perhaps you can explain then, why the promoters said, in last weeks press release, that the fixtures for the top two leagues would be published this week? Surely they must have known there might be problems with rider availability! Perhaps it's another case of treating fans like mushrooms. Keep them in the dark and feed them manure!

Surely their priority is not to treat riders like mushrooms, then to let the fans know. Nothing worse than issuing a fixture list and then having to make wholesale changes if riders have fixture clashes. Its not as if fixtures are starting next week is it? Take a chill pill my friend. All well and good, but it’s a bit daft for the governing body to say on the 14th January : BRITISH Speedway clubs have today agreed a start date of early May for the 2021 season. Fixtures will be published next week for both the Premiership and Championship. And not deliver. Surely they knew all about the ‘rising stars’ then and the impact this could have. There appears to be a lack of joined up thinking...

Doesn’t matter when the fixtures are starting. It was just stupid to say the fixture list would be published. They would have been better to say nothing.

In any normal year after the AGM in November, fixtures aren't usually available to fans til Jan/Feb anyway, even though clubs have their draft lists around the turn of the year.

Because they are a group of chocolate kettles, motorbike ashtrays and inflatable dartboards. What skidder says is quite right but you are too, they could have explained the situation fully and just said that the fixtures will be out soon and in plenty of time for a May start. Yes, probably they agreed to publish them in a weeks time as per the statement, but clubs being clubs don't always comply with the request for their team.

One new initiative that I have never heard mentioned by the BSPA is the appointment of a Press and Publicity Officer. Perhaps now would be a good time!
Speedtiger 327 Posted January 23, 2021 Getting fixtures out isn’t that imperative as the way things are going the chance of starting the season in May is becoming more of a BSPA fairytale dream. There’s a long way to go with this crisis and far more important issues to deal with other than speedway.

Perhaps now would be a good time! It's something that is long overdue as communications in general aren't good. They really need an independent outside agency or expert in the field. I guess if you pay peanuts though you get monkeys Mike from BV maybe a good call. Edited January 23, 2021 by HGould added final suggestion line
Najjer 2,890 Posted January 23, 2021 Why is it always so difficult? How about saying... ”It is our intention to get the fixtures released as soon as possible. Due to rider availability and potential team changes within certain teams this might not be able to be confirmed right away. As soon as these are confirmed we will keep you updated right away.” Why are they so incompetent at just the most basic of basic communication? Don’t make broken promises and treat your paying customers like absolute morons.

They constantly treat fans as being as stupid as they are. This last PR proclamation is nothing more than smoke and mirrors to make us think this is being done to bring on young British riders...thats rubbish they tried similar in 2015 and it didn’t work. They are dumbing speedway down and fans will know it and will inevitably drift away. And promoters will scratch there heads and wonder why! 1
