At the end of the day, this -- and every other meeting -- has to attract a paying turnstile attendance to pay its way, and hopefully turn a profit. If we start designing meetings to run for streaming, rather than the live audience, we wont last long as a public sporting entertainment. People can't afford to travel. You won't attract travelling fans who are not already aware of the sport (only die hards will travel a distance to, e.g. Poole, Belle Vue or Glasgow) so a stream is an additional source of publicity, as well as potential income. As mentioned elsewhere, it can be limited in terms of geography - thus the hosting track can focus on more localised marketing.

Sheffield or Belle Vue are ideal candidates and geographically sensible. Poole is in the backside of nowhere. Ipswich is the backside of nowhere - Wimborne Road is closer to Foxhall than the NSS or Owlerton. It's all relative. And yes, I know Ipswich is a Prem club, but Witches fans might well be interested in the Champs Riders Champs because current and former Witches will almost certainly be in it. kitten2502 262 Posted June 19, 2022 I think the switch from a Saturday date to a Wednesday is the biggest problem here.

'It could be on a usual Poole race day as a Wednesday should ensure the best riders availability' and probably in the summer. I wonder if it will dislodge Middlo's proposed testimonial meeting date in late August?

Skidder1 7,637 Posted June 20, 2022 Looking forward to a well supported Wednesday night of speedway - as usual!! Sensible to hold it towards the end of the League fixtures so that the riders with the best averages can represent their clubs.
