Oxford v Edinburgh 17 August 2022 Championship

Recommended Posts

Teams from Oxford website but Sam Masters not able to return yet and is replaced by guest Kyle Howarth. I think Monarchs need at least a point to feel reasonably safe from the chasing pack for play-off qualification.

MONARCH OXFORD CHEETAHS

1. Scott Nicholls (C) 8.57

2. Paul Starke 5.71

3. Jack Thomas R/R 5.57

4. Aaron Summers 6.21

5. Troy Batchelor 6.65

6. Cameron Heeps 4.07

7. Dillon Ruml 5.17

Team Manager: Peter Schroeck

EDINBURGH WHAT THE FORK MONARCHS

1. Sam Masters (C) 10.60  Kyle Howarth (guest)

2. Lasse Fredriksen 4.00

3. Kye Thomson 7.06

4. Paco Castagna 4.92

5. Josh Pickering 8.67

6. James Sarjeant 3.64

7. Jacob Hook 4.00

Team Manager: John Campbell

Rain forecast for Oxford this afternoon through to early evening - what’s it like at the moment? Got a 120 mile round trip to make so weighing up the odds of the meeting going ahead

Problem is we are looking at potentially heavy thundery showers which tend to pop up out of nowhere, are very localised and don't show up well on rainfall radar. So it is a real lottery.

Thanks Arneig. It’s very changeable at the moment so I think I’ll pass on it today If I lived closer to Oxford  I’d chance it.

Same here. In Swindon 70 mile round trip, too risky.

Howarth a strange choice of guest could pick anyone in league.

5 teams already riding, Plymouth have no-one. Glasgow could have maybe used Brennan, Harris already riding at Birmingham for Coventry. Other options were really the other Leicester HLs

Apart from riders from Poole or Redcar! Who would prob want round Oxford or Dane's riding in Denmark.

Starke scoring just 2 pts, and Heeps running 3 consecutive lasts, cost Oxford dearly tonight...

Cracking win especially being 10 down half way through the meeting.

Good to see josh back in form and good back up from the rest of the boys. Play off time now.

Another surprise home loss for the Ox. 4 wins, 5 defeats. Would have been heavier with Masters riding.
