Period of mourning. No sport activities.

I don't understand cancelling sporting events "to allow people to mourn" but still expect them to go to work as if nothing has happened?

It's crazy isn't it? I can't believe people are actually mourning the loss of someone who they never met. You could just do black armbands, silences observed, national anthem, Royal band playing etc to the millions around the world watching ?

Isn’t that a better send off ?

Tend to agree whilst on my break at work.

Think each event should be looked at individually. If the teams/players are ok, there is medical cover, stewards etc (if required) and everything else is in place the event should take place.

As was mentioned earlier you can go to the royal opera House if you want.

I agree for the funeral for events being cancelled that day as a mark of respect.

That will happen after the mourning. The Queen was not just some random celebrity. She deserves more.

That's your opinion if she 'deserves more' . In mine she deserves a nice send off and that's it . Let people celebrate her legacy by enjoy British speedway . Bet she would appreciate that more than everyone supposedly mourning

All sports cancelled for day 1 of mourning (Friday) then Sports needing a high police presence are cancelled for the weekend with all other sports to resuming from Saturday.

I never knew Speedway was such a high risk sport to Police.

They will be complaining when we are racing play offs in the final week of October

No respect shown tonight by any of the 4 teams involved. Shameful.

Why?

The Official Announcement came out at around 06:30pm.

The meetings were due to start at 07:30pm, most or many would have already set off for the meeting, so would caused a lot of inconvenience.

If the announcement was made 3 or 4 hours earlier then maybe I would say cancel the meeting fair enough.

Great North Run (on Tyneside for the uninitiated) goes ahead on Sunday, with "a number of planned changes" (more details to be released).

Boxing Day speedway sounds good. Standing on the 3rd bend at Berwick with a turkey & stuffing roll, a few chipolatas, and a glass of mulled wine. Why not lol

My mind could be playing tricks on me,but I can't help thinking I went to a meeting somewhere over the Christmas period. It would have been late 60s or 70ts,probably in Yorkshire.Of course,it could be senility setting in.

Agree entirely with the additional proviso that the day of the funeral should be a clear day. (Was the 19th due to be first of Premiership play-offs?)

No the 26th is 1st leg of play-offs.Last league meetings scheduled for 22nd
