This year is a bit of a right off but it is what it is. How has it been a 'right off'?? The Monarchs are into the top six now and Kye has finally starting to get wins again and if Borke can become a decent middle order rider then the play-offs are easily within reach. It's a long season.

It's a long season. I said “a bit of a right off” not quite a full right off. This was all said before Berwick home and away when we’d won 2 matches all season one being the first at home to Glasgow and Birmingham which doesn’t really mean much as everyone wins there. At the point in time I had wrote this it was a bit of a right off. Unfortunately I can’t see into the future.

If you could see into the future you would have hoped your team got an easier draw than the European super powers from Andorra.

eide67 199 Posted July 31, 2023 (edited) Max Clegg back for Edinburgh from Friday, presumably as 28 day cover for Lasse. MAX CLEGG BACK WITH STELLAR MONARCHS NEWS Monday 31st July 2023, 12:40pm by Mike Hunter Edinburgh Monarchs Edinburgh fans know Max Clegg well because he was a pretty regular team member in the years 2014 to 2018, and has recently performed wonders for the Monarchs Academy National League team, so he will need no introduction when he steps in to the Stellar Monarchs' side to face champions Poole at Armadale on Friday. He slips into the position unfortunately vacated by Lasse Fredriksen due to his broken wrist, and mercifully removes the need to be continually looking for guest riders. Sniffling through hay fever, Max said "I'm 100% ready, it's something I'm quite used to now coming to Edinburgh, they have brilliant fans, a great promotion and a well-prepared track so I'm really looking forward to it. I've had some really good years at Edinburgh in my career and I'm pleased to be rejoining, even if it's only a few meetings. "I feel really good, I'm enjoying riding my bike again, which is another reason why I've agreed to come back to Championship racing. My aim this year was to enjoy racing and see what happens. I'm confident and I feel I've got a lot of speed". In his three home meetings for the Stellar Monarchs Academy this season Max has dropped just a single point in 15 rides, that being in the final heat last Friday against Berwick Bullets. "That's one point more then I wanted to drop," he said. "I'm using the same bikes I've always used and I've been putting in times as good as the Championship times. I do keep an eye on that sort of thing. At the start of the season I had a lot of bike issues which tends to happen to me in early season, but I've fixed that now and I feel a different rider. "I've been in the team with Picko and Craig before and I know most of them. I feel the team is really strong and I think we can finish the season off really well. Anything's possible, I'm confident. "Poole won't be an easy meeting on Friday but then no meeting's easy is it. I'm confident, especially at home against anyone we have to race. We need the whole team to click." Max will be combining his speedway with work commitments but sees no problem arising. "My gaffer's really good with giving me time off". Max joins the team from this Friday's home match against Poole Pirates onwards. Jason Edwards is lined up to guest for the team's away matches this week at Plymouth Gladiators (Tuesday) and Poole Pirates (Wednesday). The change is subject to BSPL approval. Mr Blobby 2,662 Posted July 31, 2023 Clegg should do the job especially at home which should help towards bonus points. However we do need him to chip in with a couple of points on the road also.

Once they get there, they'd certainly need him to score better away, unless Fredricksen is back by then?
Nickinho 429 Posted August 1, 2023 Max Clegg has looked dreadful for over a year now. I expected him to stay in the NDL or quit the sport so this news is a bit of a shocker for me. Losing Lasse and replacing him with Max is not a good move imo and the guest facility would have been better in the long run as they could have picked away track specialists.

Max is only a temporary replacement till lasse is back fit again. Lasse will only miss Redcar and potentially Plymouth rescheduling and Poole if off tomorrow depending on when the rescheduling is. I believe the cut off is being pushed back so would hope he is back for them. At home I’d say max is better round Armadale than lasse, of course lasse is better away however looking at the options for him at these places there isn’t really any track specialists or riders who’d do better than Clegg.

I disagree with that, his scores once he went to reserve at Leicester weren't so bad. Plus he nearly got a 12.00 average for Kent. Obviously his scoring for Scunthorpe this year was dreadful, but as long as he can ride Armadale (which he can) & help them to home wins, they'll make the top 6. Away form isn't really important until the play-offs, when Lasse should be back.
