Poole v Oxford 9/8/23 Championship

Recommended Posts

We have the clash of the two possibly strongest teams on Wednesday at Wimborne Road. Pirates have had the last two home meetings washed out due to this dreadful summer but the forecast is for a lovely dry sunny day. A very big crowd is expected and it’s live on BSN. Should be a thriller.

Could this be this years final? A possibility. Oxford come as a team on good form and sit top of the table 7 points clear. Pirates are currently 10 points adrift in 4th with three meetings in hand at this time of writing and need to close the gap.

Scott Nicholls always rides Wimborne Road well and Sam Masters is excellent.  Lewis Kerr is no slouch either, though will he be riding? Cameron Heeps at reserve could be viewed as a trump card but his form at Poole is normally very poor. Will he do better this time around?

Should be a thriller.

Not sure who will get the bonus point here?

IMO, If Oxford do finish top, then they are unlikely to choose Poole, Glasgow or Redcar in the play-offs. So Oxford ,Scunthorpe and whoever finishes 6th.

Very tight for BP, which should make for a big crowd. Regarding lower end, JJ normally has one good ride - if he gets set up sorted quicker he could be the difference. Atkins and Killeen while they tend to struggle for points at Poole they are usually on the pace, so be interesting to see what happens if they make a gate. Heeps is the opposite, normally gates but after half a lap the Poole riders go round him.

Last time Oxford were at Poole we won by 14 and Oxford have a 14 point lead for BP, so might even get a super heat for it!! :o

A lot could depend on how fit Kerr and Killeen are (think it will only the the second meeting back for both of them). Last visit Jenkins, Heeps, Atkins and Kinsley only managed six points between them, and you’d probably expect Oxford’s bottom four to score more this time around - that said it’s never easy to score points at Poole. Even if it’s not close on the night, should be very competitive for the bonus. Going 49-41.

There you go @IanBrannan a fan question to ask :D (assuming you are commentating as well!)

Edit - also if Adam not fit to ride will he be commentating on Weds instead? Might be a bit biased! ;):o

Adam was never down to commentate at Plymouth or Poole and neither am I as I’m on the radio in the NE this week, Jason Harrold will be taking care of the southern trip and I’m doing Glasgow on Fri.

Is the Glasgow v Plymouth meeting being streamed. It is just shown as "Live Stats" in the BSN fixture list.
