eric i 619 Posted November 17, 2023 This is crazy running 3 leagues, fans will only pay to watch so much speedway.
Steve Shovlar 10,439 Posted November 17, 2023 Where’s the name Spires been plucked from? Sounds like a load of churches rather than a rip-roaring motorcycle sport.
Bryce 349 Posted November 17, 2023 Oxford is sometimes referred to as the city of dreaming spires.
Bagpuss 10,781 Posted November 17, 2023 Sorry if I've missed it, is the Championship 2 home and two away this year? If so that's an awful lot of regular fixtures for Oxford to squeeze into seven months.

szkocjasid 3,031 Posted November 18, 2023 Just curious, would Oxford have been allowed to not enter the KOC in both leagues, cutting out a few fixtures?

It devalues that competition if teams are picking and choosing whether they enter it or not.

Oxford weren't in the NDL KOC this year (Belle Vue, Berwick and Edinburgh also) so obviously teams have a choice. Edited November 18, 2023 by Gambo95 Team added. At NDL level they did. But the top two divisions are supposedly professional, so if you sign up you should be signing up to the full schedule. Treat the competitions with respect, otherwise why should anyone else. As we’ve seen with the Jubilee debacle.

Or perhaps it's a very smart move having 1 home fixture every week from March till October by 1 of their 3 teams.
