The necessary evil was an often touted phrase back in the day but that went out of the window when the rulebook demanded a guest for a missing number six and after 75% of your fixtures you cannot replace a seventh member if injured, it has to be RR or guest. Unnecessary. 

Funnily enough was just reading classic Speedway mag article by Malcolm Simmons where he tell you the story ,as a 17 year old he failed his driving test and he was that annoyed he never resat it. So he was driving without licence insurance and obviously stole tax disc from another vehicle,for which he got a six month jail sentence .Great article on his career,this article was in 2011 and his views on the future of the sport are almost spot on,Elite League in GB was no longer elite compared to other Countries riders .Riders giving engine tuners big money for nothing really(they just want to turn up and ride the bike)fancy vans.Promoters main fans with money from their business.He anticipated when TV money runs out the sport is in trouble and will probably have go back to Amateur status.That was 2011 and he’s not far out. ps Many fans have had the same view since then.

Wow only just caught up on this 😮.  That would be a massive shock (and risk) if Woffinden was back to start the 2026 season in Tigers kevlars.  I would have thought Chris Holder, Pickering and Etheridge would have been the final 3 pieces of the team jigsaw, sure we’ll find out in coming days/weeks what route the promotion have gone down.
