Would that have anything to do with riders prepared to attack the track rather than whinging? just asking3 points

Just watched the programme, thought he came across really well and interacted with the other guests very well. Don't get this constant Tai bashing.3 points

not a newcastle fan but same goes for all fans regardless of which team suerly its more important to track down and get the right riders rather than just getting the team announced as quick as possible2 points
-
Because the whole average situation this year is farcical and the people who run the sport in the UK are unable to distinguish between their bumholes and their earholes?2 points
-
So the last few posts just completely ignoring the fact the racing had improved no end after the new shale/riders came and the 2nd half of the season was good racing. Sorry that doesn't fit the negative theme! . . . . at least the results were rubbish though2 points

If it’s that much of a dead cert, when are you opening? you can retire with your millions and say “I told you so” hell you you could even franchise it throughout the country.2 points

Heathens Fans Forum. Concerned fans of The Cradley Heathens Speedway Team, are urging all supporters to attend a Fans Forum, to be held at The Netherton Conservative Club, 1 Halton Street, Netherton, Dudley, DY2 0PJ on 9th January. 7.30pm start time. The meeting has been arranged by supporters , to gather opinions and thoughts on the short and long term future of the club. Concerns have been raised again, following difficulties to obtain a permanent home in the area for the world famous team. The club have continued to track share at Monmore Green and Perry Barr over the last few seasons, but with uncertainty over available dates, they can only commit to a reduced race schedule The fans want to see how they can influence the situation and work together with all parties, to secure a long term future for the Heathens. Everyone is welcome to participate, air their views and ideas, which will in turn hopefully spark some much needed impetus and generate further appetite, for fans to get involved. The event has been warmly received by the Heathens Management, who are keen to listen to the fans ideas and work together to find a solution to the long running saga. It is hoped that the Heathens faithful turn out in force, to what could be another turning point in the history of the club. Organisers: Tracey Robinson-Rivers, Jacky Mcnaney, Jackie Mason, Grant Marks and Simon Priest.2 points

With young Bewley and Bickley in the side the Worky fans have alot to look forward to in the season ahead.Bewley he really has impressed me he has a real racing brain and i will be amazed if he does not put 1.5/2 points on his average this year.Bickley it will be tough but he is dedicated has good aquipment has a great team(dad) etc) and he will be fine for me the main thing for Kyle is to enjoy his racing the rest will follow.I hope this trend will follow now in the Championship young Brits getting a prolonged run at this level it was great last year to see the likes of Hume, Mountain, Bowtell, Wood really make progress as a supporter i really like to see young riders make it up the ladder.2 points

It will be a bonus for Comets fans watching youngsters like Bewley and Bickley making their way in the sport. Not enough young riders in Championship these days.IMO.2 points

I would say that 5 minutes of standing around watching a tractor and listening to "Now that's what I call music volume one" has a more negative impact than any rules anyway.2 points
-
BECAUSE there are far too many rules, many of which contradict one another. Rules should be about what you can do, not what you cannot.,2 points

I'm sorry, but Pratt sounds like a moaning dinosaur in that article. Why should three Championship clubs change their race nights to suit the Premiership? A compromise has been offered to us, which I think is a far better long term solution. Yes the "one over 8" rule sucks, we we CHOSE not to sign the world champion. As for teams using their assets, we had two assets in our team at the start of last season. He papers over that fact by claiming it was higher as we signed riders as assets during the season. At the same time, you can hardly blame clubs like Somerset and Rye House for not building an asset base when other clubs hog assets they don't use. Will Swindon be selling Doyle for example? Just the usual moaning without any constructive ideas.1 point

They'll have riders lined up/signed and a few are predictable. But they’re just not announced yet.1 point

Would make sense for Poole Somerset and Swindon to work together. A few floating fans do all 31 point

But Dek if you re- apply your blue and gold specs you will remember many double figure hauls at home and away. Multiple 5-1s with Cookie . 7 wins out of 8 in Grand finals (against Somerset and Weegies) at the dale, and a stellar performance winning the 4s at the STMP. I`m sure there were more. No doubt away from the blue and gold vest he was inferior, but I think the harsh handling at BV might have accelerated that, mibees aye mibees naw, but his ego was well nurtured by the Monarchs management team and we certainly saw the best of him. In Sport , going back rarely succeeds I grant you but this was one option I would have been happy with. Anyway moving on , it will be interesting to see how this team develops during the year. Like 2012 we may struggle in heats 13 and 15, but I hope Erik will quickly sort that out. The bottom of the team is built to improve averages and on big away tracks Josh and Matt will score much better than last years fellows who really struggled, so that will compensate. This team will end stronger than it starts me-thinks1 point

Went to Daugavpils a couple of years ago for a Lokomotiv fixture. Flew from Birmingham to Kaunas (Lithuania) with Ryanair and hired a car from there. It was about a 2 hour drive and the road was fine. We were back in Kaunas for tea. You nay find that the Kaunas flights have now been replaced with flights to/from Vilnius, but that's no great shakes. At £35{ish} each way, you can't argue. Weekend deals on car hire are also very affordable and diesel is cheap. The stadium is good and the racing is usually excellent there. Latvia and Lithuania have come a long way towards being up to western standards, and my two travelling companions and myself had a great time out there. Have fun1 point

They cannot run on Wednesdays exclusively but I expect they will use as many as they can then have a few on Mondays. Just like Poole I would imagine.1 point

edinburgh teambuilding has been based on "improvers win titles, not big averages". In that sense this team is typical edinburgh, it's worked well over the years in fact the 2014 team was mocked in the same way by some and we know what happened. it's that philosophy that mean't there was never any chance of sedgy coming back as he would never increase his ave as a HL1 point

so who will be first to destroy their starting average @ the panthers . by destroying , mean lower their average . its normally lambert and oystercard . but my guess will be hans if and when he comes. around 5 points average should do it ! ( only banter )1 point

Dosent make sense not preparing a track for good racing, your business depends on it. Kings Lynn was always one of the very best race tracks in the country, hope its back to its best next season.1 point

Yeah! Hungry riders with something to prove. There was fresh shale that hadn't bedded for that poole meeting what was said to have caused the problems. maybe that just settled and helped too! but anybody with something to prove will try harder. so it was probably a mix of both!1 point

This is so true. I still wonder how they are allowed be so loud when speedway bikes have to be muffled to death. Grrr.....1 point

Both days will be available to all clubs (plus some Thursdays for Swindon) and I expect either or both to be used equally during the season.1 point

Always a possibility. I think Jason is a bit of an Anglophile anyway. I've noticed that he has an England flag on his race suit.1 point

If he hasn't and he expects a return of a lot of fans to the AFA, he needs to make it his Number One priority. The quality of racing , which is the Big Pull for many supporters has been dire at times. Yes we are waiting for the Team Announcements and this "undreamt of "marketing and presentation era but that matters little if the track is the same old , same old. Buster has spent countless hours on an effort to make a silk purse of a track out of pig's ear, so fingers crossed for 2018.1 point

Doyle riding here this season is probably one of the main attractions not just at Somerset but at other clubs too when Rebels come to town. Away from home then that is probably the idea with Doyle allowed a tactical substitute ride. When it comes to the OTA then that is a different story. Lawson and Wright are very much heat leaders around the place. When dialled in Holder should be able to score big too. Allen and Wilson Dean love the place too. Jeppesen only has to beat the other reserves and has done his job imo.1 point

WHAT has Doyle's visa arrangements got to do with speedway's rulebook? Many years ago the great Ian Thomas said he could tear up the rulebook and rewrite them on a sheet of paper. It doesn't have to be complicated. The more complicated they are the more people will have different interpretations.1 point

If it forces them to sort the shambles out its very helpful1 point

You have tens of thousands of holiday makers in Poole walking about that have never heard of the pirates. Sitting in a high st cafe watching footage of a meeting on a loop, with the cafe selling tickets for that weeks meeting makes it very enticing. A nice coffee and cake, some speedway merch and tickets for a meeting has more chance than a family turning up blind at the stadium on race night and buying merch from a metal container on the 4th bend.1 point

I'd have settled for 10 acres of land with full planning permission for disruptive motorsport within 5 miles of Hull city centre. Didn't get it. Incedentally, at a local park, youths were riding loud motorbikes up and down for over 2 hours this afternoon, if only they had somewhere supervised and safe to ride without distrubing anyone. No point in calling the cops they're not interested. But - if you do 31MPH in a 30 zone or park for 10 seconds too long well that's different, sigh. All the best to everyone in speedway....1 point

Winning 3 consecutive World titles and finishing on the rostrum 8 years running, for starters. It's pretty well documented that he brought a new level of professionalism to the sport. Those 3 titles show, to me, that for a few years everyone was playing catch up. I don't know much about the pre-Mauger years, but it is the comment from Ove Fundin that tells the story. I reckon he would have done just that in whatever earlier era you put him in. As for what exactly he was doing, I can't help with I'm afraid. Best ask the riders who had to do the same to try and keep up with him.1 point
-
Possibly, but for me Fundin's comment says it all. Put Mauger in any earlier area and, in my opinion, the same thing would have happened. He would have taken the sport to a new level and become dominant. Greatest of all time, I reckon.1 point

My father was even worse....he used to get home and then type it all out and keep statistics of things....then gave those statistics out at the next meeting.....I chose to sit no where near him... I think it's because of him that I feel a certain way about speedway fans...I try not to be like them.1 point
