Speedway should be marketed as an extreme sport, not a family sport or anything of the like. When you hear the intro music being described as 'jolly' it really does make you cringe.5 points

To the over cocky Poole fans (you know who you are) - your boys took one helluva beating! Maybe your mighty team isn't as good as you thought it was and hopefully you have come back down to earth with an almighty bang! Hahahahahahahaha! Well done to the Robins - you certainly showed those pesky pie rats! Every other teams fans will also enjoy this moment!4 points

Shocked and saddened to read this, seeing him at Berwick was all to brief and all to rare but he was a thoroughly decent guy. RIP Martin.3 points

That 1940’s marching music the riders come out to at the moment is an embarrassment that needs to be binned. Now. Don’t know what the tune is called but it’s worse than the crap Coventry came out to for years.3 points

First meeting of the season and it pretty much had everything I reckon. Some close tight racing (albeit a slow start, the first 4 heats being from the tapes). After the first track grade, the meeting exploded into life! After their collision in heat one, Allen and Newman continued with their shindigs with a brilliant race in heat6 with Allen charging hard under Newman on the third bend. The race ended with Newman snapping at Jake”s heels as they crossed the finish line. For some reason Ref Dave Robinson awarded third place to Newman, which baffled the crowd and caused much programme altering, before the score was adjusted several heats later. What happened after the race was truly inexcusable, as Newman, clearly irked by the young Aussies hard riding, rode him out to the fence, causing Allen to take avoiding action Not to be outdone, Allen took his revenge by intentionally swerving his back wheel towards Newman’s front tyre, dumping the former Rebel and his machine onto the track No action ensued from the Ref, but certainly tempers were raised in the pits, with several people being restrained by officials As the track became more to the Rebels liking, they slowly got back into the match with some determined riding from the aforementioned Allen, Charles Wright and BWD, who was most unlucky to be excluded in heat 8 surely this trio are going to be an exciting spectacle this season at the OTA Wright was a revelation, riding defensively in heat 9 to keep Andersen in third, allowing Holder his first win in Rebels colours at his new track, then team riding with BWD in heat 12 for a vital 5-1 Not often seen by Wrighty , certainly from this poster! For the Lions, Pieszcek was most impressive, looking perfectly at home on a track he has probably never seen before Hans Andersen was good value too for his paid 8 points, once again using his track guile and experience to either assist his colleagues, or to keep opponents at bay Newman had his best meeting at the OTA for many a year, and looks like he won’t be in the reserve berth for too long This Leicester side has an impressive look about it even without their number one, and I expect them to be in the mix at the end of the season A new era for Somerset with the Wednesday night meetings, and certainly the crowd looked pretty decent to me3 points

A wonderful tribute to Ivan Mauger in today's Star with great words by people who clearly knew and loved the man himself. Made it very difficult to read this morning But brilliantly put together by the whole team. Looking forward to next week's issue which is promised to offer even more and, hopefully, by then the emotions of his death will be a little less raw for us all. I particularly appreciated the chequered strap at top and bottom across the pages ... a great touch. And I have to say the new style Star front page combined with the stunning 1970s photos of Ivan look just beautiful. Thank you to all involved.3 points

Personally I think it's wrong/unfair that swindon are allowed to race Thursdays. If anything happens to any of the riders (hope it doesnt) and they need to have a guest they will have a bigger pool of riders to choose from unlike the rest who are limited because of set nights. Tnoughts2 points

If KL can get Iversen going then they have the makings of a good team. Lambert and Kerr prob put in their best Blunsdon performances and Proctor was decent. Looks like Poole have a new rival for 4th!!2 points

Well I just got home from Poole and I have to say I really enjoyed the trip. The meeting may not have been the best ever, but we were treated to one or two superb rides. Swindon were far superior on the night and thoroughly deserved their win, which everyone acknowledged with good grace. I was particularly struck by the size of the crowd, which was a lot better than the numbers we get at Lakeside. I also cannot imagine Jon Cook and co doing a public post match press conference, which I think is a terrific way to increase fan involvement in the club. I want to say a big thank you for the wonderful warm welcome I received. I spoke to lots of Poole fans, including several forum members, and I can say that every single one was friendly and good company. The recommended Lakeside fish and chips was excellent too.2 points

Swindon won't get carried away with that result and I think it is just down to the start of season "rustiness" for certain Poole riders. Swindon caught Poole with their trousers down and that won't happen easily again with the team that Poole have assembled. Who would have thought Josh would fail to score and Brady would only score 3? At the start of seasons, you often get shock results and I think that is what last night was. Rosco did brilliantly putting Nick and David together for heat 1 - both are on-form and when you start with a 5-1, the team's confidence grows. Swindon's top 5 looks pretty solid but they will have off-nights (hopefully not all at the same time like Poole last night). Well done Swindon and commiserations to Poole.2 points

I could have gone to this meeting, but thankfully chose not to! Instead I went to the British U21 semi final at Birmingham. Some decent speedway, although I have seen better there. The 2 biggest cheers of the night? The presenter announced that Poole were currently losing 27-39 and the Final score from Poole!2 points

The man is an absolute tool. Did he expect we'd just turn up and say thats okay? The sooner he f=-=s off out if thus sport the better it will be for everyon REF above the track was watered at the request of the Teams NOT the track Curator As usual a keyboard warrior who has not the nuts to go and ask the man himself !! I was in ear shot of the pits so heard the discussion first hand ACEF No dummies were even in sight ! You talk b*ll*cks - hot laps passed by SCB - no dummy thrown out - track was watered slightly at request of teams. As usual keyboard warrior who was no where near King’s Lynn and makes false accusations2 points

Thoroughly enjoyable evening as previously mentioned on here. Good weather, good racing and all in all, a good night! Fortunate enough to be able to watch from the centre green for the first time, and even more fortunate it was for heats 11&12 - What a race in heat 12. I took 3 people along with me who'd never been to speedway before, and I'm pleased to say they will all be back for the Poole meeting next week! Full marks for a brilliant start - best wishes to Lewis Rose for a speedy recovery.2 points

If Poole keep chucking in these type of performances on a regular basis it won’t take long for you to have toured the whole of Italy. After last season, there can’t be many places left?2 points

Brady Kurtz has been nothing short of poor. Poole must regret getting rid of Hans for Sundstrom. The poles flaky at the moment. And the best rider is leaving soon for a rider in Holder that nobody knows how he will perform When you have idiotic Poole fans before the season going on and on about how they will walk the league it gives me great pleasure nights like these. That’s not aimed at the decent Poole fans just the ones giving it large before a wheel has been turned2 points

Predicted line ups. Kings Lynn 1. Iversen 2. Rose/RR 3. Proctor 4. Jorgensen 5. Lambert 6. Kerr 7. Andersen Poole 1. Kurtz 2. Woryna 3. Grajczonek 4. Sundstrom 5. Kildemand 6. Szczepaniak 7. Shanes After Pooles performance last night, i'm cautiously predicting a 75-15 Lynn victory.1 point

As I usually moan on here as soon as things go wrong at Kings Lynn speedway, I thought I would say how good last nights meeting was. Decent racing , slick presentation, and a Stars win. Positive start to the season .1 point

Didn't realise he was now injured, but the point stands on priority. Premiership: Monday and Wednesday. Championship: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Why should a championship team be missing a rider, because a Premiership fixture is taking place on the wrong day? Swindon should be given a clear choice next year to stick to the set days, or drop down a league.1 point

As already mentioned Hammers' riders were in action for their Premiership clubs yesterday. Nick dropped just one point leading Swindon to a convincing victory at Poole whilst Adam scored 7 (a win and two paid wins) and Zach, 3. Meanwhile Richard scored 9 (two wins and a paid win) for Somerset v Leicester for whom Kyle collected 11 + 1 from the reserve berth. Whilst all this was going on, Alfie qualified for the 'under 21' final with 10 points, which could have been 13 had he not fallen when leading his opening heat, and joins prospective Hammer, Jason Edwards, who had already achieved qualification at Eastbourne. Ben leads out Isle of Wight this evening. All very encouraging.1 point

i fully understand the thinking behind this yrs changes to the presentation but not convinced they are an improvement, does 1950s brass band music really work in 2018? The general consensus around us was that bringing the team around and doing post meeting interviews in front of the main grandstand was preferable to the" press" conference in the glass grandstand (is there much of a "press" representation ?) I did also feel a bit sorry for the meeting sponsors who were virtually on their own on the centre green waiting for their chosen rider of the night to walk across from the pits, the experience for sponsors after the meeting was imo excellent in previous yrs. Just some thoughts maybe other fans disagree.1 point

Shovlar says could only ride the inside, you say can only ride mid track and Kildemand went from 3rd to 1st around the outside.... come on, which is it?1 point

The sun is shining and its derby day. Should be a cracker of a meeting in lovely conditions. Redcar are without Jonas B and Newcastle without Rose. Both guests will not weaken the sides at all so its got the makings of a good one. Afterwards Cubs v Gems. Stay behind as your support would be most appreciated.1 point

Heat 6 had to be stopped as Rose ran into side of Fricke, impeding him and damaging his bike. Thought it was the best racing I’ve seen at Kings Lynn for years, mainly because it wasn’t supper grippy as often has been, track was slicker which meant riders had to look for different lines.1 point

This thing about the hot laps, I guess all teams at home can now do it? Stop moaning about it and just do the same when you're at home.1 point

Congratulations to Swindon, fantastic team performance tonight. Poole weren’t even in the same league. Wasn’t impressed with the signing of Sundstrom over Hans in the first place, but after tonight when he could only just beat the Swindon reserves......Wow what a great signing Mr Ford, well worth the long wait for the Polish rules to be relaxed...........NOT!!!! This Poole team won’t make the top 6 unless changes are made, they ain’t good enough!!1 point

Well as first impressions of the season go I thought tonight was pretty good. A meeting that flowed well (and but for the paramedic seeing to Lewis Rose one that would have been done in 90 minutes or so) with some good racing and a good result. The programme is a hundred times better than last year's, albeit more expensive and there was a pretty big crowding doubt helped by the weather. As Phil says Lambert was a different class, a quite brilliant performance. Proctor and Kerr both excellent too and although there is improvement required from the others it's very early days. Roll on next week.1 point

I used to hate Ivan! At Poole, the meeting before Ivan was due to appear, Mr Knott would get us to practice our boos! All pure theatre of course. As an 8 year old in 1963, I remember shoving my autograph book at Ivan, along with many other kids. He simply put his finger across his lips to 'shhhh' us all up. He then said, 'I will sign for everyone, but get in line and say please and thank you. He did. Something Ive never forgotten to this day. I am not an autograph hunter, but he taught me the simplest of manners. Ive liked him ever since, even though he was an 'arch enemy', especially when he joined Exeter. R.I.P. Ivan and thank you for some wonderful memories.1 point

Reckon this will be closer than some Poole fans think. Can see Ellis smashing double figures alongside Batch. If our reserves pick up 10 then who knows. Personally I don’t think the Poole team is all that. Lots of it, buts & maybes. Underestimate Swindon at your peril.1 point
