WITH all four GP qualifying rounds being held the same weekend, but only one on a Monday, anyone with any intelligence (pigs might fly) would have ensured that Belle Vue's two top riders weren't in the Abensberg meeting and could have been at the NSS fort the match against KL instead. And please don't tell me that it is an open draw...4 points

Speedway was the loser because it had a chance to address the cost issue and mechanically at least get a sound footing to build on, unfortunatly the sport is riddled with people with their head buried in the sand like you who can’t ever see the bigger picture and offer nothing more than cheap jibes3 points

Taking that one (dangerous) stage further......too many EX speedway fans get accused of being negative, when they are only stating the facts.3 points

You're very lucky to not be a Stars fan as you would be hung, drawn and quartered for comments like that. They're getting a very touchy bunch if you talk negative.3 points

i was reading yesterday some posts from graham hurry saying that paul used a GTR last season, did 22 meetings without any service work and he actually made a bit of money although I doubt he was on a crap deal but the point is the engine, there will be riders who are lesser standard or equal that spent £££££ with englebert fancypants engine tuning and lost a fortune and cant make it pay and will tell you a million reasons why they wont use a GTR, there is a lesson there somewhere for not just riders but speedway as a whole but don't expect it to be learnt2 points

Heading down tomorrow for an overnight stay,to start the Bank Holiday , hopefully our boys can keep it close, best of luck to Mason on his return he's certainly getting some stick to prove himself as he did in the Cumberland Classic at Workington. Not sure which way this will go tbh , 2 great away wins but things didn't workout against Scunny last Friday so never take anything for granted , Sheffield haven't set the World alight yet so possibly even teams from the offset Good Luck Boys !!2 points

diamonds now have 10.10 points to replace rose ................................. just a pity there is not a 9+ heat leader available perhaps sign craig cook and then use guests to cover all his meetings ...... a good heat leader would transform this team diamonds do need to sign someone quickly as tero and ashleys averages are bound to increase ... and continuing with a guest and r/r will soon catch us out at home diamonds will be weaker with Ashley in main body ............. always better for your team to have a reserve averaging 7+ who can take 7 rides ............ but given how wethers rode on sunday ............ he should make a mockery of his current 4 point average from reserve2 points

I would actually laugh if the changes are made and it makes you loads stronger. Just can't wait to see Gav post about it!! I agree with Mr Hyabb though. I don't think the British League can attract anyone decent who isn't riding here already and if someone was tempted before then I'm sure the Vac incident at Swindon would have put paid to that.2 points

I will be enjoying the racing this evening. The result on Monday means that progression to the KO Cup Semi Finals is very unlikely for Rye House but that does not mean we won't have a good evening of speedway.2 points

It's how the bike looks as well, the other week, a NL rider and mechanic spent best part of 2 hours piddling about with those spoke straws, all nicely colour coordinated, ish, with rest of guards/covers, but in their quest for making bike look good, they failed to notice a broken spoke!! The one with the balancing weight, which was swinging more than the swinging footrest!!! Very nearly missed his first race....2 points

Spot on. .. And some will say "we have had guests for donkeys years"... And indeed we have, however... The days of turning up at a track, without any prior knowledge, and being peed off to find out PC wasn't there and that another teams' best rider replaced him have long, long gone... Sweden and Poland run fixed nights and don't use guests.... Their Championships therefore have credibility... We run the same system and still have guests... Meaning our Championships don't have credibilty.. It's interesting we didn't use one fixed night like Sweden. So as, I presume, to facilitate the use of guests... And then our version of 'two fixed nights' is actually three, and that all fixtures are arranged, it would appear, to again, facilitate guest replacements, unlike Poland, who with their three nights still don't use guests.. What you got away with in years gone by, doesn't mean in this age of 'instant news' you can still get away with it today... When we found out PC wasn't there after we had paid our hard earned to get in, we often moaned to each other, but it was to the 10 or so people around you.... Nowadays you know BV are missing riders days in advance and instead of moaning to ten people, literally thousands on various forums get to read it... And then make their decision to attend the fixture... With many, 100% understandably, deciding against it.. If you don't run any Sport with credibility and integrity, you simply cannot complain when you struggle to generate decent crowds every week. And when you add on that winning that Sports Championship's mean very little (by the very way they are won), and you have real problems I would suggest..2 points

i still believe the GTR should have been aimed more towards the NL to get riders using the GTR, saving money (after the initial outlay though obviously) and using the engines throughout the levels. top riders are more unlikely to move as they will generally have so much more invested. one of the problems we have in the NL though was mentioned by Shale Searcher, why do you need spoke straws and all the bits a GP rider has at that level??1 point

Denmark in a really difficult position at the moment, in a way very much how GB was a few years ago with riders that have been around a while, maybe on their way down, with no-one really coming through to take their place. At least here there are riders now good enough to give the manager a choice to make, and the future is certainly looking a lot healthier1 point

That’s always been the case, the BWD situation is a bit of an outlier as he’s ridden CL in 2018, simply not achieved a new average at the appropriate time.1 point

If the alleged sender considered the tickets to be of no value, they wouldn't be crying on a web forum. If they did consider the tickets to be of value, surely they would just get a free certificate of posting. (p.s. there's no such thing as registered post or recorded delivery anymore. There is "Royal Mail Signed For" which is tracked and costs £1.10, but for something of low value all that would be needed is a certificate of posting, which is completely free.of charge) Why would anyone not use a free service if they were worried enough to cry on a web forum?1 point

Precisely, they don't know you. They can only go by what is written on here and if they haven't been on the forum long or didn't know you as screamer they will form an opinion on what they have recently read. I don't think anyone's opinion is more important than anyone else's but those who are over positive or over negative will get challenged. Nothing wrong with that as long as it doesn't get personal or abusive. The bottom line is that we all care about our club and our sport otherwise we wouldn't be on here.1 point

It's the attitude of the BSPA which annoys me most. That fans will accept a team of 3 guests and still turn up.Yes I went on Monday as usual but I never thought I was watching a proper Belle Vue team.It could easily have been avoided.1 point
-
Yep how hard would it be.Its this sort of thing( which with a bit of thought and planing could be avoided )that really Ps fans off.Not saying we would have defo won but we would have stood a better chance with Cook and Fricke there. These lost 3 points at the end of the season with this year being a close fought league could be the difference in making the play offs or not.My blood boils at the thought of it. All most fans want is to watch their own riders ride for their team win of loose then the result is down to your own team, and for there to be a level playing field for all and with a bit of forethought and planning this could happen far more often than it does. Just give us our own team to watch and value for money is it really to much to ask. PS just checked i see that none of the G P qualifiers were arranged on a Sunday to clash with the Polish leagues so a bit of forethought and planning did happen.Do the BSPA just sit back and do nothing rather than ask the FIM if they could look at who is and is not riding Monday and fit these riders in another round. PPS Look i just did it mondays missing riders swap rounds for riders not riding for their own team that day Kurtz for Cook,J Holder for fricke,Sundstrom for Andersen and Wells for Howarth just using riders who ride in Britain no one missing for their own club let alone swaping anyone else who rode in any of the qualifiers as none of them rode on Monday1 point

Very good post. If baffles me why teams have the option of a guest or R/R when an unavailable or injured rider is missing. R/R should be the only option if only 1 rider is missing.1 point

It's blatantly obvious that British Speedway is in decline. However, an individual not having a favourite rider isn't exactly a fundamental reason. I seem to have been labouring under a misconception that it was a team sport.....Yes, it shows your declining interest but I suspect the reasons that others have lost interest is rather more complex. Anyway, what does this latest 'knocking' thread offer that the many others on the same subject don't?1 point

A lot of people on here worried about the changes we may make. We don't even know if or when CH is available let alone who may come in to the team.1 point

Rye website is saying the guest for NBJ will be Kevin Doolan. Although I think the Rockets have no chance of winning on aggregate, there is still the prospect of an entertaining meeting this evening. I suppose I'll be half cheering for Swindon since 3 of their team are Hammers too. Looking forward to it.1 point

There is no decline in speedway. It continues to put on the same old show in much the same way ( but with faster bikes with more shiny bits and brighter kevlars ). The decline is in the interest of the general public in speedway racing as a UK sport. As far as I am concerned the racing has declined in excitement with less passing ( or even the prospect of it ) and less close racing. There has been a decline in the way people relate to "their" team because of double upping, guests and r/r. Speedway promoters no longer sell what the general public want ( especially the under 30s ). With now 2 or 3 really exciting races out of 15 and little of interest in the others, the decline since I first went in the mid 1950's is very visible to me ( and others I know ). I still enjoy speedway on TV, especially the GPs, but even watching Swedish and Polish matches last night on Freesports I found I could get on with a lot of other more interesting things in the gaps between races (the Swedish match in particular ). The GPs are a great entertainment bundle with the interest kept high most of the time. If there is a future for speedway it needs to include live streaming ( an abysmal failure so far ) and not only for those who now prefer to stay at home but for those who want to watch it on a phone, tablet or whatever in the pub. They want to watch 15 mins of close exciting racing but not wrapped up in 2 hours plus of their time ( well that is my guess ). I will go to watch my local team, KL Stars, when they next have a full team at home.1 point

The current formula in the SGP with sixteen riders, twenty heats, two semis, and the final, and all points scored counting for the world cahmpionship is simply the best they ever had.1 point

Correct. It's fantastic Woffinden has sacrificed his own personal glory for the good of those coming up in the ranks providing them with a better organisation in which to showcase their skills and reap their rewards. If only more riders were as selfless as Woffinden. Tbf Nicholls and Richardson tried to do the same previously but they didn't have the same clout as the double World Champion does. Still, success breeds jealousy and it's always pleasing to see it spewing out from certain posters. Little point you posting about the Speedway of Nations, as you've said, you won't be watching.1 point
