  1. Not doing something right as probably most fans having a look at Poole threads do it for the comedy value like me. If I need cheering up I always look in here first.

  2. Not fans at fault it's down to the BSPA who have allowed this to happen , fans, have not created this situation , alarm bells have been ringing for years , when the so called top league started poaching riders from the now known championship to double up in reserve positions for the now known premier league , you see they even nicked our league name because they know we have a better product.

  3. Definitely the chicken curry - made by Mr Bishop's own fair hand - the sausage casserole or the steak pie. All home made and way, way better than the usual rubbish you get at speedway. 20% discount on the ferry using the Warriors website and if you are coming on the cat, it gives details of how to book a free taxi from the pier to the track. You won't regret it. A truly superb little club that sets the standards for others to follow.

  4. THE BSPA General Council met on Tuesday at a time when speedway in the UK is in crisis. But, as usual, no word from the inner chambers of ACU House in Rugby. We are not allowed to know what they discussed, what plans they have afoot or any decisions made. They have become the ultimate secret society. And yet they wonder (maybe they don't) why the paying public, on whom they depend, despair and are deserting the sport in their droves. Are they interested in what British fans, those that are left, are prepared to pay to watch?

  5. The results of SMI's 1991 survey reflected the mood but the BSPA has done little or nothing to address these old problems.

  6. At Speedway Mail, 27 years ago, we were echoing the fans' growing dissatisfaction and urging the BSPA to listen to them. All the grumbles expressed today were apparent back then - and beyond. The problems have only worsened over the ensuing years.

  8. Is that the same Chris Harris that wasn't allowed to sign for the Somerset Rebels? As they say: it's not what you know - but who you know!

  9. Same at King's Lynn, free for u16's. Poole seems extremely expensive for kids.Didn't realise any clubs charged for kids of 5 years old. Every club should at least allow kids of 11 and under in for free. They are the future of the sport and at that age is the time to hopefully get them hooked, before they get hooked on all the other rubbish.

  10. Whether it’s 9/11, Tsumami, Katrina or Trump etc, it’s clear to see what makes the most column inches. Given your opinion that injured riders from other teams “reap what they sow” I’m not surprised you revel in disaster. Awful human being.

  15. A very enjoyable meeting with lots of good races. Much credit must go to Sheffield who gave a real battling performance. The two 5-1s in heats 13 and 15 made the score look a lot more comfortable than it ever felt. Fortunately for the Hammers, Lawson and Morris were superb, and it's that spearhead that may make the difference for us when the trophies are handed out.

  17. Got the result tonight despite being anywhere near form. MPT will be taking the number 1 jacket before long. Grondal nowhere near fit imo Credit to Lambert who rode well Bacon is getting better each week BWD solid Nicholls is what he is now a 7-8 pointer which is fine in a team built in this way. Hope Ostergaard is ok but it was another silly crash caused by his erratic style

  22. Because we were under the points limit and therefore could redeclare up to a maximum of 42.50.

  25. I think the mistake was made much earlier on in heat one when Lions won the toss and chose gates 1 & 3. They should have waited and picked gates in the last heat after watching to see which were more advantageous. Even the flying Klindt could do nothing from the back when he didn't gate in heat 12 off four and got beaten by Charles Wright and James Sarjeant, plus his own team mate Jakobsen.

  27. I'm sure I read somewhere that the Kent management AND Clouting's father all agreed that he was not yet ready for NL racing. Cannot disagree because he fell off far too many times IMO. O'Keefe is certainly a better bet although not a World Beater for sure. People I've spoken to about him reckon he's got plenty of guts....hope this shows itself in some good scores so that he keeps his place. This is the aspect of NL racing that really appeals to me, a new youngster trying to make his way. Fascinating.

  28. I am one of these sponsors and I will still support Craig no matter what colour he is wearing or whether my name is here, there or wherever. This move is a no brainer financially for Craig and I hope he can kick on from here His true supporters will get behind, and stay behind him

  29. After a few years, Sky's coverage got slightly repetitive. It was two and half hours for 15 minutes of speedway action - and then it quite often overran! I used to sit through it all, but now I ask how I however did, even standing for two hours at the track itself. There was and still is too much padding out for live matches on the television. Live speedway, and it's only my opinion, helped the sport for a few years, maybe introducing new fans, but I feel it also cost many who actually wanted to attend the stadium and instead save their money and remained at home. Though the ardent fan would say he'd never miss a match at his track, It's an easy habit to get into. And with the Play-Offs as we have them now, the whole season is pointless apart from the last six weeks or so. It is like watching wrestling where you know the guy who's being smashed about is going to eat some spinach and then win out eventually. From day one of the season, a match should be important. The Play-Offs allow a team so many sleepy days before anything matters. And, do you know what, I think fans have cottoned on. I mean, Where do they all appear from when Play-Off Final arrives - surely it's like the fans you see outside a stadium when it's raining, waiting until the last minute to part with their cash in case the match is rained-off and their money is tied up. Unless there was a relegation system to go with it, a serious one and not where clubs can decide if they want to come up or go down, then Play-Offs have probably impacted on the whole seven months of the speedway season for the benefit of a couple of teams that make the Final. Once finished, they leave you cold and empty, all the hype when really they are anti-climatic. The only one that sticks out is 2006 - Reading v Peterborough - and that's because of the dubious double point rule that cheated the Berkshire club.

  31. Teriffic article in the Swindon section by Terry Russell in this week's Speedway Star, bemoaning the fact that Speedway's 'second division' are allowed to call the shots over the top league. He cites the case of 3 of his riders for whom Swindon pay all the costs also being used by Lakeside who pay nothing other than points money yet get priority of those riders when there is a (potential) fixture clash. I couldn't agree more.

  32. Not having team Kevlars makes sense now. Mind you probably would have got a discount for a bulk order.

  33. Its quite simple as to why Somerset couldn't sign Harris to replace Vissing, because it would have put them over the 42.50 points limit (just!). Didn't need a BSPA guru to step in - just someone who could do simple arithmetic!!

  34. We are suffering at reserve this year for a couple of reasons. Last season everyone had to have a 2pt reserve and we had three good ones in Connor Nathan and Danyon. They were beating their opposite numbers successfully this year due to teams like us Glasgow and Sheffield going for two number ones in the team it has forced the other teams to build strength in depth because all the heat leaders were signed up. This has put a lot of pressure on the reserves especially when Nico was struggling after coming back from injury and cams lack of form. We have been unlucky with injuries but we need to act quicker to replace injured riders with short term loans and to nominate a number 8 Saw Josh Bailey on the terraces He would be perfect til drew is 16.

  35. I can't agree with that, watching Speedway live at Leicester is crap, it was less crap watching it on TV the other night... it was still crap though. The TV coverage adds value with the rest of the presentation, rider interviews, replays, (comedy) commentary etc. I have seen a lot of cracking meetings on TV over the years, normally SGP/SWC and play off semis and finals, when there is something at stake and something to ride for it's well worth watching, live or on TV... too often though, especially a league level there's very little at stake. For me Sky hyped a lot of their matches up more than BT do, who remembers the return of Darcy Ward match? A lot of us probably do, but who can remember who the teams riding were, what the score was or who even won!! The point is sometimes you can make the best of a bad job especially when the product on offer more often than not in this country is plodding along through the season building up to 6 meetings at the end of the season

  36. THEY will still get the same exposure as they would if he wasn't riding for Glasgow. It has been tough for Craig and at present his only income is from Belle Vue, and they don't have that many meetings left. Sometimes he is his own worst enemy but the lad needs an income.

  39. Because any rider that becomes available and could strengthen the Berwick should be considered at least. The inclusion of a rider like Ritchie Worrall would do that, but I think he will go else where leaving the Berwick team as it is now.

  44. Well, from an Edinburgh fan..... unlike some from the East..... I wish Craig good luck at Glasgow. He needs to be able to earn a living and he’s not going to do that and compete in the GP (and support a new baby) with a few meetings for BelleVue. It was a no brainer financially. It will be tough to see him in Tiggers kevlars but heyho, life goes on

  45. Riders like Nick Morris come at a price (expensive), the club does well to just keep speedway going in the town, use it or lose it comes to mind. And talk about entertainment other than the Gps how many british league matches on BT sport have been entertaining?

  46. We will see him at the GPs will we not .

  50. As soon as this torid season is over, the first agm on November 1st and the first question is a simple one , do we want british speedway to be a competitors sport like Moto GP, motox etc or do we want to be a team fan sport like it has always been, a team sport on motorbikes, if it’s the first then there is no point perusing the team aspect and make it pay to race with prize money, if it’s the second then the bikes, riders, cost, presentation and the team ethic need to be looked into and changed , currently we are trying be be the fan based team sport but being run like a competitor sport and it doesn’t work, there is hardly any control over mechanical side of the sport and riders and tuners are pushing and pushing but in reality all they are pushing is the cost up and many fans and potential fans couldn’t care less, to prove this point something I would like to see is take a meeting like poole v belle vue and get the riders to all use a basic no frills engine used by all 14 riders but don’t tell the fans, the fact is hardly anyone would notice because it’s not something they care about , it’s all about the riders and their teams, we need to push the team model
