  1. Its a joke that his 4+ average is available for a replacement for Clegg having come in on a 3 and scored less that that in just a handful of meetings

  2. I just can't wait for the reply. Every week for seasons we are told the track is amazing and then when the TV camera's arrive low and behold its bumpy that week but better the next!! Don't get wrong, the meeting was miles better than anything we have seen at Swindon over the last couple of years, which isn't saying much. But maybe it wasn't sour grapes from NKI the other week.

  3. Haha even you cant deny the track was bumpy especially in turns 1 and 2. Everyone saw it plain as day on the TV. But are you saying it wasn't?

  4. Isn’t it crazy how we are praying for good weather to get our fixtures in after the glorious summer we have had with no meetings

  5. In a period of 9 weeks covering half of May, June and half of July, they managed two home meetings! So who didn't see this coming? The same thing happens every bloody year.

  6. So £25 for 25 heats is not VFM, Yet £18 for 15 heats is ok ?..... Can I ask what were your maths results at school actually like ?

  7. Not at all just fed up, like many on here, with you posting CRAP

  8. Odd that, Walker fit same time as Flint and Hume fit, must think fans are idiots

  9. Any newcomer watching on Bt sport would be put off for life after that meeting. A small number of passes during the meeting.. entertainment value 2 out of 10
    4 points
  10. And then you have Guestfest after Guestfest as all three Leagues try to cram fixtures in on the same nights using the same riders.. As you say, "happens every bloody year"... (With less and less people understandably watching it happen)... The best summer for years too.....!

  11. It just shows how important the 'flagship' Premiership is doesn't it? With such nonsense who really cares who wins it? Not really a great selling point with which to attract a crowd is it? Or indeed attract any major media coverage ..

  12. Give it a rest for Christ sake, do you have a b side on that broken record of yours? Even if, and it is an if, Brum pulled a fast one then we sure aren’t the first and most definitely won’t be the last to do so.

  13. Or it could be a completely made up story from the start which is entirely in keeping with the poster in question.

  14. I'm glad the season doesn't run into deepest October..... Saddlebow is not the warmest place to stand out in around October time. Has its own micro climate there and always seems to be 5 degrees Cooler than anywhere else. As for the double header, It is what it is. Buster will be dropping a few quid to put it on. The Riders will be happy as they get 2 pay days in 4 hours. The fans get to watch 2 meetings for cheap money and only have to pay one lot of fuel, one lot of food, one programme. What's not to like ? Seems Like some people wanna moan for the sake of moaning. If the racing is good, what does it matter if its the same team twice ? Most people only go to watch the home riders anyway, so what does it matter who the opposition is ? Come on Guys, get a grip. How much is the entry ?

  15. Quite a lot to do with it. A number of Wednesday's were unable to be used due to clashes with Denmark. If Thursday's were the FRN, there would be no clashes!!!

  16. Er no it wasn't. The best league meeting was the first televised meeting this season and it was from Bellevue. The close score line in last night's meeting kept it interesting.

  17. Thoughts from a Wolves fan.... After another wasted journey, following Somerset (a) rain-off last Wednesday, we stopped in a Pub just of the A14 and discussed the strong possibility of a 'dreaded' double-header next Wednesday. Our ideas for getting the 30 heats run efficiently included:- 1) Moving the starting gate to the other side as it shortens the distance from pits to tapes. 2) Reducing the 2 min time warning to 1 minute. Both teams to agree: Clerk of the course to do his job! * saves 30 mins on the night. 3) First race starts promptly at advertised time. 4) Frank Ebdon as referee. 5) Back-up Medical cover 6) Limited on-track tractor time. 7) Riders to get to the tapes and stay there! 8) Heat 15 line-up to be sorted before heat 14 finishes. ** Team Managers to 'gee;' their riders up. 9) Wolves not to use Sarjeant as a guest! ... yes the 'Church End' beer was good. See you next week for "Midnight In Norfolk".

  18. Zdenek Kudrna: As a Wolves fan I was always amazed to see him turn up at Birmingham Speedway in his Austin Allegro with a bike rack on the back; knowing he had driven from Czecho overnight. I would have been frightened to cover the distance from my home to Perry Barr in an Allegro in that condition. Fair play to him! Sam Tesar: The only speedway rider to have the same nickname as the track lighting at where he rode..... Peterborough - "The Dark Shadow".

  20. watching the stars ride against the same team at home twice consecutively is bad enough, but twice in one evening isn't exactly inspiring. double headers against 2 teams is one thing, and there is always the option of a "spare" rider for the 2nd meeting if anything should happen, rather than dragging a national league rider out of the crowd and Phoning his dad to bring his bike over! From a fans point of view there would be more interest if wolves could come back for a double a couple of weeks later .

  21. The lumps and bumps were there for all to see last night. Vindicated what Iversen had to say a couple of weeks ago.

  22. I liked watching the riders bouncing and bucking around on the bumps and ruts. A true test of the men v the boys, with boys getting badly freaked out. They need to get practicing on ploughed up fields to stop them becoming like a bunch of mummy's boys whenever a track isn't like a billiards table. In fact what speedway in the UK needs is to have more tracks like ploughed fields. Otherwise it gets like the Andrex league in football, full of spoiled little mummy's boys. And don't get me talking about covered wickets in cricket. Incidentally I saw a programme on the gogglebox a couple of weeks ago about some race down a steep hill near Gloucester. The competitors have to chase a piece of cheese and although they start off by running, they soon just roll and bounce all the way down. If Chris Harris ever decides to give it a try, I'm sure he'd win. So why don't these new GB trainers take young riders out to steep hills and get them doing that sort of thing as well as practicing on ploughed fields? This is the entertainment business, so well done to Poole.

  23. Yayyyy some positives, at a guess Buster, Robin n Dale wouldn't be putting this double header on without having their hand being forced., ie only way of being able to get the meetings on before the cutoff date. We're in a great position in the league and need more points to keep us there, I'm pretty excited about it all, I'm sorry that some of you don't feel the same! The team are happy and give 100%. Wild horses wouldn't keep me away from the double header woooooooo, so what if I start work at 6 next day lol... COME ON OUR STARS Just want to add: YOU'LL BE A LONG TIME DEAD PEOPLE, our friend Star Fever would've been loving it if he was here, remembering you m8 xx

  24. Don't think Zmarzlik is a throttle jockey and he is entertaining, pay money to watch riders like him giving 100%.My definition of a throttle jockey is Jason Garrity and that is the reason he spends most of the season injured.

  25. It is to an extent in general although Ipswich's plan to have 5 meetings through the school holidays with 1 reserved date seemed the right call to me (1 was a rearrangement anyway) Dont think you wouldve reasonably expected 2 consecutive call offs in August (and hopefully wont be anyway)

  27. I think we can probs blame the Championship promoters who voted against Mondays and Thursdays for this predicament!! I would move the cut off date, the league should be able to run til the end of October after all and after the terrible weather at the start of the season, it makes sense.

  28. You also said Grajczonek should go! He has been your best rider in the last 2 meetings and Poole would have lost without him last night.

  29. Not me though, only decent races were at the end and you liked my FB post pointing that out. However the result was much needed after all the recent tonkings and that is what maybe affects people's judgement on the actual quality of the racing.

  30. Nice to see a fair size crowd in tonight, thought after the recent drubbings it could have been thin on the ground. Track didn’t produce in the way of passing, which after the decent Poole meeting was a shame. Nicholls in heat 13 round the outside was superb though. Anyways we won a bloomin speedway meeting for a change!! Reasons to be cheerful

  33. Looks like the old policy has been chucked in the bin then?

  34. No, there have been quite a few incidents with aggressive pit crews, eg Sayfutdinov, Holder, Masters to just three. If riders want some handbags, then let them get on with it, but third parties have no right to get involved. Do that in any other sport and you are in hot water, and rightly so. An idiot pumped up on steroids is never going to make a wise decision is he ...

  38. The 'killer instinct' is probably a trait that riders develop differently through their career. Jason Doyle seemed to get his during one winter between seasons. Looking at Max's performances at the NSS recently, he has shown a ruthless side to his riding, and has made some extremely daring and incredible passes. He now has to develop that to a consistent level and at every track he rides - he has the talent to do that and, at his age, has time on his side.

  39. An example of where a riders score doesn't tell the whole story. Cook scored one point which looks terrible for a rider of his calibre but according to Phil the Ace, who was there, In heat one he got filled in badly on 2nd bend, went for a tear off but they malfunctioned so rode the entire race blind. In his 2nd ride he was about to take the lead when he had an EF, then in his 3rd he gave it his all after a poor start. Was really hard on NBJ and then tried a blast round the leading rider and overcooked it and fell. He then withdrew

  40. With the FRN it does make it more difficult. You have to really look at the fixture list to understand. With one of the fixtures we had called off in April i remember looking to see when an available date would come up to re-stage it.And low and behold it wasn't until the end of August when both clubs weren't riding in a fixture.I think it was Wolves actually. When Lynn didn't have a fixture Wolves did and vice versa right up until now.So yes sometimes you should be able to race on an off night. This is probably why Swindon have comfortably been getting their meetings in as they can race 3 nights a week.

  41. Doyle could't 'race' in Ht 15 because the track was so bad - spoilt what should have been a great meeting.

  42. Unfortunately correct and I thought it was a pretty boring match. It must be me though because a lot of Lions fans on Facebook are saying it was brilliant racing, which seems to prove as long as their team wins that's all that matters. Personally I really enjoyed the Poole match as there was some good racing even though Lions lost but now it seems it's back to the normal processions again. 8 points isn't that bad surely?

  43. So. Did you ask him why he was a "disgrace" in the get together after the meeting.. Or did you forget

  46. Who's next out of the revolving door at Owlerton? This to-ing and fro-ing is not doing the promoters' reputation any good. The general perception has always been that Sheffield was one of the fairer clubs - always paying on time and looking after their assets. That reputation must have taken a huge battering with a growing list of riders having been shown the door since May. The rumours of riders being fired in bar-room bust-ups does not auger well for the future team-building policy. If the rumours have any substance, putting together a team for 2019 may cause some unexpected difficulties for a promotion which engages in such disreputable conduct. For the first time in 53 years I can't wait for the season to end so that a veil can be drawn over this most unedifying spectacle. The management should really consider making a statement to fans about what factors have conspired to pull the rug from under last season's league champions. This has been a season of deeply humiliating disappointment for fans and we deserve an explanation.

  47. Think a few more Sheffield supporters will make the short journey up the M18 and M180 to watch more entertaining racing at the EWR.

  48. Most speedway fans are probably not aware that Arena Essex is the home of TWO stock car/hot rod/banger promotions. Having been a lifelong follower of both sports and having worked for Chick Woodroffe please let me explain. Chick opened the track under his Promotasport banner as part of the then thriving P. R. I. organisation. He then started the Speedway. The Promotasport racing is held on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday afternoons. For the last few years there has also been the Rolling Thunder Show events run by Vincent O'Connor on Saturday evenings. RTS do not run Bangers but Vince is a former Promotasport driver in both Stock Cars and Hot Rods and I think still races in Sprint Cars. Promotasport may be finished and the Woodroffe family moving out but I suspect RTS would be as keen as Lakeside Hammers to continue and they might want to move to Sunday afternoons although I have no way of knowing if that is true.
