  3. Threads with the name " Workington " in them are turning more and more like a victims support group with Totally Honest John the martyr in chief lol . Just be grateful there isnt a promotion/relegation play off to consider as well haha . With son of hurricane bawbag due to hit landfall somewhere on the west of Britain on Friday morning , if it's rained off , seriously it isn't our fault , honest , we never paid for the rain to come , swear to god .

  4. Everyone hopes that titles are won by brave and exciting overtaking moves and that you can heap praise on the champions Sadly the 2 moves most pivotal to Pooles success were Kurtz injuring Holder in the semi and Jackobsen injuring MPT in the final No intent for sure in either case but more important than any points won in the completed races that followed Without those 2 incidents no doubt Poole wouldve not won either tie

  5. Got to say that's pretty poor when you consider the number of Star fans and from all other teams that contributed to appeals to help him after his tragic accident.

  6. FFS, two of the worst posts I have ever read. Ward is an immature idiot but you are one sick MF and should be banned from this forum completely.

  7. Congrats to Poole - one hell of a comeback from 3 or 4 months ago. Very impressive how they clawed themselves back into contention, and honestly have looked the best side (narrowly) in the second half of the season. King's Lynn obviously were unfortunate to lose Palm Toft at Poole, but some of their own failures are of their own doing. Why, oh why, would you replace your best reserve (who admittedly was not at his best) when you needed 2 5-1s to take it to golden heats? (where you'd be big favourites!) Howarth off gate 1 had a more than fair chance of getting the 5-1 with TJ, but Dale Allitt decided to bring in Lambert who had done very little over the 2 legs apart from a shock paid win when he looked to have jumped the gate (Proctor certainly did, anyway). Certainly if the roles had been reversed, and Middlo had made that blunder, it would have its own thread on here by now! There's an unreal of Poole hatred which I guess makes it all the sweeter for the Poole contigent. And honestly, so it should given some of the unfair comments they have to endure. Lots of talk about heat 12 at Poole, and whilst it was a dubious decision, heat 3 last night was just as bad. Jørgensen should have been out 100%, and whilst you can't predict what would have happened, that 6 point (approx) swing evened out Palm Toft's unfortunate hand injury at Poole. Imagine we will see some big changes next year. A better standard of tracks (Belle Vue excluded) would be a good start along with eliminating averages, but a better standard of Speedway supporters would be just as good if the childish bickering on the Play-Off Final threads is anything to go by!

  8. as a neutral a thought the meeting over two legs was good and kept me well entertained shame that injuries etc had an influence on the outcome but that is how speedway is Congrats to Poole and bad luck on the Stars shame the thread is full of negativity tho --i thought it was good..... and great to see such a Big crowd in at Lynn

  9. 15.8.1 If the Referee stops a heat, following an incident or accident, where the rider causing the stoppage and his team partner were in third and fourth place and a re-run is called with one of those riders excluded, the Referee has the sole discretion to order that the remaining team partner will start on a 15 metre handicap in gate position c or d (the opposing team does not change positions). The rule says nothing about 'staying down' or intent. In my view it's all about preventing the classic scenario of a re-run resulting in a total different result from that which was almost assured before the stoppage. In last nights case the ref did the right thing, it was highly unlikely that Klindt was going to pass the two Lynn riders. Had he been right behind them, and with a fair chance of passing at least one of them, then I'm sure the ref would have had all 3 riders restart from their original gate positions. I think it's a fair rule.

  10. Think the difference in ability of the riders is one reason the the racing has deteriorated.Lambert and Harris proved that last night. The Premiership is at its lowest standard.Surely can't survive much longer.Either 1 league or Squad System for Premiership is the way to go,this guesting lark is making a mockery of an already Mickey Mouse sport.

  12. Went back and watched Palm-Toft decision in Heat 12 at Poole, and my interpretation was MPT was willing to go down there and that's what got him excluded. Yes there was contact, albeit slight. MPT then runs a little wider and then makes a tactical decision a split second later to lay it down as he knows he's lost the position, and there was contact, so nine times out of ten he thinks a ref will exclude Jacobsen. In my opinion he should have been able to withstand the contact and ride on - we see much bigger contact in the first bend without incident all the time. It's not right to call it a "dive" by MPT, it's more a veteran move by a savvy rider expecting a decision to go his way, which the ref didn't give him. I can totally understand why Poole-haters and Kings Lynn fans are aggrieved, BUT, I'd like to see more ref's take Ackroyd's stance and exclude the falling rider for making not enough effort to stay on his bike after incidental contact. Please note I am NOT accusing MPT of being a cheat. What he did is part and parcel of the way speedway riders act because it's ingrained in them. As for the Woryna incident at Kings Lynn, my take on the matter was that he lost control as he was pushed wide by the clean pass on the inside. Zero contact, but in his efforts to defend the move he went down. Seemed like he was slightly shook up, but it's highly likely if Poole weren't being 5-1'd he have found the adrenaline to at least try and get off the track. He defo had a look to see the rider's position's and that made him stay down. Do I like this? No. I always cheer ALL riders who clear the track after a crash, but is it part of speedway tactics - yup. It's one of those where if the rider does clear the track when being 5-1'd he'll be labelled naive by fans of his team!! I'd add that while Kings Lynn were on a clear 5-1, isn't the rule that the rider had to purposely lay it down to draw a re-run, and that's what triggers the 15m handicap? I don't think that's what happened here... Just wanted to give an attempt at an even-handed Poole supporter's opinion...

  14. Ford probably thinks it's time to get out whilst the business still has some value left in it. And I doubt he wants to stay around and try to help speedway in the UK recover from the mess that he has contributed to in a big way this century.

  15. Well firstly commiserations to Kings Lynn, with MPT & Iversen along with heat 12 at Poole the score would have swayed in their favour. A fantastic achievement by Matt & Middlo to win there 8 league title, and what a way for them to bow out. An interesting time ahead for Poole! Poole Pirates 2018 Premiership League Champions.

  16. The play offs do add an extra element that there is no doubt, but it is very strange having a system whereby the top four of only a seven team league races for the top prize, based on that the team that finished 4th, technically didn't even finish in the top half of the table and that you had more teams in the end of season competition to win the league than those who failed to make it. Seven teams- should have been straight final for the top two only, to have four teams in the play offs, you really need at least nine or more clubs involved in the actual league, otherwise its get even more farcical. just my opinion of course.

  17. Jeez, give the lad a break. He puts up the match advert week after week, done in his own time and very probably for free. He also puts in a lot of time at amateur meetings , in field flag marshalling, starter, ref's box etc. He also does a sterling job on speedway updates site ,again all voluntary. All in all a true fan of the sport.

  21. Not a chance. The fact you sidestepped the post I was referring to shows you are fine with it. For that I have zero respect for you and all the rest who happily dance around the grave of British speedway, a grave dug by Ford and his Poole faithful. Ward could have just posted his congratulations but instead decided on an unnecessary attack on the imagined Poole haters. We hate cheats not Poole get it into your heads! Wards post was typical of many we see on here from down south that are there purely to stir up trouble. They serve no other purpose and it’s not only confined to Poole related threads, they contaminate the whole forum. I hope Ward and others read my response and when they feel hurt by it think, you know what I’m not going to post just to upset people as having read this response it’s not a good feeling. I’m probably clutching at straws but you have to hope. In speedway terms I do genuinely find you lot a hateful bunch and such is my love of this wonderful sport, I’m always going to be inclined to kick back. Just on that you will only ever find me responding to an initial hate post. I never, like you guys, feel the urge to start a fight but even though I bite my lip more often than not I cannot stand idle by whist you poke fun at and wreck this sport I love.

  22. Personally, I don't think Woffinden is the best ever British rider, in the same way that I don't see Lewis Hamilton as the best ever British racing driver They both have access to machinery far and away ahead in terms of performance of that which the likes of Craven, Crutcher, Brett, Boocock N, Carter, Loram, Betts etc / Hawthorn, Collins, Moss, Surtees, Hill (father & son) etc could even dream of Woffinden is the best in 2018, of that I have little doubt, but comparison with those from the past is almost impossible to gauge

  23. Poole have finished top before and lost in play off, e.g. against Coventry who had also been bottom of league but by careful manipulation had Pawlicki at reserve.

  24. As regards NKI's injury, am i not right in thinking he was hospitalised with a head injury which would mean the concussion protocol would come into play and he has to sit out for a specific number of days. He maybe said he was fine and appeared so but medical opinion may have differed and that has to be the over- ruling factor.

  28. A WORD in the ear of Chris Morton about the construction of a new track would be a good idea. Cannot be the same size as the one CM designed and orchestrated at the NSS but a scaled down version is feasible.

  29. Ford said last night it was available for anyone to make him an offer. In the current economic climate, there won’t be a queue of people looking to take it off his hands. Speedway as a sport in the UK is on its knees - anyone would be mad to invest in a speedway club - unless they had very deep pockets and were prepared to lose money!

  30. Fans' leverage? Stop going... You could argue that tens of thousands may have already stopped and nothing has changed....? But it's different now.. Whilst fans left in their droves, Promoters didnt listen, because quality could be cut to reduce costs, and inflation busting price rises were being accepted by those left who still attended. Attending in 'just enough' numbers.. Now, those numbers are no longer 'just enough'... Now, the quality cannot be cut much further... And now, inflation busting price rises will take the cost of entry to ridiculous levels for what is actually on show... It really is at its 'tipping point'... Fans by their attendance are endorsing what they are watching and giving Promoters the green light to keep doing more of the same.. Fans by their attendance are colluding with Promoters that the competition they are watching is a credible one.. And fans by their attendance are getting the sport their endorsement and collusion deserve so shouldn't moan about it.. Customers are a very powerful group in business. Maybe it's time for speedways customers to harness that power and use it for positive change?

  31. Because they're glory hunting, happy clappers with no interest in the Sport. They simply believe the rest of the league teams are there to legitimize their clubs superiority. Sadly the BSPA feel likewise.

  32. Kings Lynn won the league by finishing top but not the championship as per the play off. Hard work was done throughout the year and makes them the true winners and not some lottery meetings.

  37. When you look at Cradley Heath 1983, I don't think there will ever be a team to top that. Just the sheer quality in that side - not even from 1-7 but they had Simon Cross at no 8 instead. Four riders with averages over 9. Two riders over 8. And at number 7, with an average over 7, was World Champ to be, Jan O. Pedersen. Just a remarkable line-up.

  38. Concussion knows no borders. As you say the injury was in Poland so was any suspension. Would you have preferred him to ride, possibly fell and caused himself or heaven forbid another rider to sustain a serious injury? I'm no great fan of NKI but concussion has to be taken seriously. So sorry but you are talking out of the back of your head/ar5e * *delete as appropriate.

  39. Concussion lay off is only a BSPA regulation if the concussion happens in a BSPA run meeting. As Niels injury was in Poland the concussion rule doesn't exist. The fact he said on live TV he felt perfectly fine doesn't sit well with me.

  41. From Glasgow Facebook page FIXTURE UPDATE: Given the weather warning that is in place for tomorrow, it’s highly likely that our play-off fixture will be postponed. If this is the case, the home fixture will take place at 13:30 on Sunday. Should our away fixture against Workington on Saturday also be cancelled, which again looks likely due to the weather, our Sunday fixture will form part of a doubleheader that day, with the return fixture taking place at 19:30 at Derwent Park.

  42. If Chapman thinks that what was served up last night and every time I've been to KL over the last 10 years or so is fine he really shouldn't be running the sport. KL used to be one of the very best places to watch exciting speedway and I'd regularly travel over from Leicester to watch it, that was back in the days of Henka & Loram, Richard Knight... Barum Trophy, Pride of the East (which has a whole different meaning these days ) I really don't know what's happened to the place, as the viewing facilities have got better the standard of racing is p poor... And to bring it back to Peterborough, I don't think it's been much better at the Showground this season, whenever I've been able to attend, usually on a Sunday afternoon, the track has been slick and dusty with little passing or close racing.
