I’m much happier watching premiership speedway this season - would have preferred Louis to still be the owner and buster not involved but I understand why he couldn’t take all the financial risks himself at the time. He’s got a buy back clause so fingers crossed the season is successful and he’s able to justify the risk to take back full control!4 points

Thanks for the update. The crowds seem quite a bit down on last year. I think it’s a combination of the wrong race night (they should have reverted back to Fridays in the lower league it kick started the weekend and had a feel good factor) and the wrong team - no crowd favourites - Wright Allen or BWD . I understand they have also removed or capped the OAP concession (there were always a lot of seniors at Somerset) and this may have turned away quite a few away who are now maybe picking their meetings. Add in the woeful presentation and it’s no surprise the crowds are down. The only thing constant is it’s still a cracking race track and regularly produced excellent speedway races. I had been a regular for 6 years up to the change in race nights to Weds which due to work commitments now means I can’t attend (we used to go as a family of 5) we can now only attend the odd meeting when I’m on leave. It’s also very quiet on the forum from Rebels fans this season - where has everyone gone ???3 points

Lisa, have you got a thing for Gavlar ? Cos you don’t half spend a lot of time replying to him. Just saying like3 points

There may be others I haven't seen but I know that Craig Cook is being very supportive of Taylor on Twitter and Instagram. Good to see and typical of Craig. Those photographers involved in the disgusting behaviour should be ashamed of themselves. It says a lot about them and about the quality of Taylor's work if they're jealous of the competition.3 points

He’s a nice kid. Always pleasant when I see him. If these other photographers are jealous of him and his work perhaps they need to give it up. They have accused him of not originating his own work saying it’s his fathers! They’ve developed their own hashtag on twitter #amow (all my own work) as a bitchy dig at the kid. These ‘men’ by the way are 50+ years old! Times change and move on - Speedway Photographry has too and it’s about the youth. The old guys need to go off and do something else if they can’t hack it. I just hope this bullying doesn’t have any adverse effects on the boy. As a pensioner myself I love to see youth prosper and wish him all the best.3 points

So the riders club fans are discussing it which is what YOU have said. So going by your theory POOLE fans should discuss Worrall, and reserves?? So are you a POOLE fan now then? Discuss it all you like but it is strange you are scared to say your opinion to someone that you are quite happy to say on here? Mr keyboard warrior!!2 points

Very sad to read last few comments, no OAP concession is just one reason I have not returned, don't want to pay more for less, also the presentation has not been good for many years, when I used to attend. There used to be an atmosphere in the early days, but fun things like the jingles and rider music when they won, I asked Deb about it once but was told you are the only one that wants it changed. Also the interval, sometimes 15 minutes or more just when things were close and exciting with 3 heats to go, you were left standing around, not everyone wants more chips. The music is rubbish at all the speedway tracks I have been to, must be something about paying royalties for anything that's not 20 years old. The loudspeaker system needs to be better but that costs money and there may be a problem about neighbours complaining, however appropriate music creates an atmosphere that's why you get music in cinema films and TV programs, and playing old Elvis and country music adds nothing. Somerset obviously don't want to lose money, but other tracks who don't own there own stadium seem to manage somehow, so assume Somerset better off than some. No excuse for the weeds other than you have to pay someone to maintain the place.2 points

Lisa if it’s rubbish, as you state, why do you bother replying? It really does seem as though you have a hidden agenda.2 points

Just seems you do tend to court Gavlar’s attention a lot of the time. Maybe it’s just me and nobody else has noticed. If I’m wrong I sincerely apologise.2 points

Well without 12 good men and true we will never have a ‘guilty’ verdict. However you would think the two Masons would be out there knocking back these rumours. What can you hear ? ....., Quack Quack ?2 points

Agreed. You obviously don’t want to see ANY rider injured, but in terms of the team, he’s the one we’re going to miss on track the most at the moment. Bates is a decent choice though so it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on.2 points

Would a face time call be sufficient ? or do i need to go up to Manchester to tell him ? Is it just Richie or does this new rule apply to any rider ?2 points

I said at the start of the season that this team will shock a few teams. Last night proved one thing that Bellego & Pieszczek can't ride together. Big loss Jake missing Monday as he is number 1 in the averages this year.2 points

Who exactly at the stadium confirmed this then ? You Argos are a complete liar and have zero substance to back up your claims. You may be correct but you are guessing you have spoke to absolutely no one. This thread is more to have another dig at Lawrence Rogers (who i am no fan of) who we know you hate. But this decision has nothing to do with him it would be in no way his call to make .2 points

Personally I sit uncomfortably with the memory Gary Guglielmi and the subsequent suicide of Billy Sanders. I can't seperate one from the other. However I wish the event well.2 points

Interesting to read that there could be some development in the future use of Rye House as a speedway venue again, although this is very much on hold at present, I do believe in my own mind that speedway will return there at some point as long as the track remains in situ. Meanwhile over the border here in Essex, everything has gone quite, the previous limited company running the speedway has gone bankrupt, no word from Stuart Douglas former owner on why he decided to no longer keep putting money in or why riders like Kim Nillsen were never paid moneys that had been owed to them for some time, Jon Cook is back at Eastbourne and if you had been living on the moon for the past decade or so, would never have had an inkling he had been part of the Essex club, no word also on any news on the development of the former site, we have seen a statement that some of the people behind the scenes at Lakeside want to start a new club under the banner of Thurrock but whether that is purely a pipe dream no one knows, but to me it feels like the club has been quickly forgotten.1 point

Ipswich will be in finals if they hold out through injuries, Allen is happy and is sorted this year , big loss with him riding the esky ,hope it’s muscular and not serious ,bates is good replacement ,hard to replace his form as scorpians just found out1 point

Admittedly I've only been a couple of times this year such is my dissolution with the way the sport is run, and it sticks in the craw putting money in Chapman's pocket, but to me the racing was no better than the Championship; the usual follow the leader Ipswich fare. Regarding the buy back clause and the hope that a successful season will justify the risk, you're assuming there will still be a viable Elite League! It's bound to go t!ts up again, it always does. Louis wouldn't take the risk to move up as he knew it wasn't viable and Chapman only did it to buy the Elite league another year. The whole sport needs restructuring but it seems it ain't gonna happen with Chapman at the helm, he hasn't the ideas, ability or vision to do it and instead is happy to paper over the cracks. I realise that in the few posts I've made I probably come across as a miserable, negative old git but I do fear for the club's future. A major decision was made in haste and nobody seemed to be looking long term, it was all about keeping the top league alive for another year. Such hasty snap decisions rarely work out well in the end...1 point

Totally agree. I’ve seen nothing wrong with Gavin’s posts whatsoever. In fact, he seems to make some very good valid points. The reaction from others is bizarre to say the least.1 point

I'm not familiar with any of the photographers involved, but surely if the 17 year olds pictures are as good as or better than those of the old established photographers, they will be the ones sought after by the media and eventually by fans. Just because someone has done the same job for many years it doesn't follow that they are better than anyone else.1 point

They ballsed up, does that really need repeating .... yeah they should all have THE perfect set up from the off, why the feck don't they? It's obviously harder than we think, do you know why?1 point

Must admit I've been pretty impressed with what I've seen so far as well. So far generally we've been able to reasonably cover the odd one or two having an off night, if they all click at the same we we be a very difficult team to beat especially at home. Just a shame that when the TV cameras are there on Monday night they won't be seeing the Massif in full voice. I believe there will be at least 7 or 8 of just us missing. I hope the TV money covers the lack of funds coming in from a reduced crowd! If they had done something similar to Swindon (buy one get one free entry) or a reduced price (maybe a tenner) they would have a much bigger attendance to impress the box watchers. As it is a Golden ticket for one lucky person to win £500 is not incentive enough for me to attend. I'll save my £18 and be watching from my sofa.1 point

Eurovsion was alright when Katie Boyle hosted it, and the likes of Teddy Johnson and Pearl Carr was in it. Gone to pot since. Seriously, I think its time BBC pulled the plug on the show. Surely all the other countries can afford to make up what BBC (thats us) put in. In fact, its about time the BBC licence fee is scrapped and BBC goes commercial. Or at least have a turn off for BBC then dont pay the licence fee. When I wanted to stop SKY I just told them and they "flicked a switch". Thats how BBC should be. BBC showed themselves up good and proper over Brexit. They have their favourite political parties, when really they should be neutral.1 point

Hence why I’m lapping it up Sorry if I’m annoying others but the amount of crap I get from him and then that Lisa pipes up ..... I’m just giving it back Waiting for one Poole fan to congratulate us but no instead it’s excuses and poor ones at that Belle Vue fans all congratulated Poole on the comeback the other day seems Poole fans have no humility1 point

And they finished the meeting with their own set-ups and it still didn't work. Facts need to be face, we're a s#!+ side, end of1 point

I’ve been a Speedway fan for over 30 years, not supporting any particular Team, Just loving the sport, but not anymore, I just couldn’t take any more of the lies and nonsense that as taken over the sport. As for Workington I stand by my post 100%, Speedway at Workington is finished and will not return, In my view Re my question to the Speedway Star, The current situation at Birmingham is typical of the current state of Speedway, We all know the reason last nights meeting was cancelled was because Mr Ellis was riding in Denmark, (he did very well scoring 9 points) There was nothing wrong with the Electric's at Birmingham, as confirmed to me by the Stadium, Supporters should be told the truth, the SCB/BSPA will do nothing, or should it be just brushed under the carpet, In my view the Press should look into this for the fans.1 point
