not good news on the stadium being rejected..... its brilliant news . people in so called high places trying to make their mark on cumbria. i wonder who pays the bill for all the track being dug up . or is it just another money making scam to get more cash out of the system Europe aint gonna be happy , paying for something that wont get built ! that news will keep this thread ticking over nicely until xmas .LOL.4 points

At last common sense prevails Shaz , not going to help us Workington Comets fans though . Why couldn't they have just revamped Borough Park and Derwent Park for all 3 sports . I know affordability is the main factor for losing the Comets , but ripping up the track gave no chance of a possible return .I'm really pleased with the result its been rejected as will a lot of others I know4 points

It says an awful lot about the Isle of Wight promotion that they have landed this meeting and not one of the bigger clubs. What is more remarkable is that they were approached by Polish Speedway, not the other way around.4 points

Do some BV fans honestly believe the Poole promotion waited until they were in front before calling the halt ? Its simple really, they could have called it off at heat 8 ( 24-24), but because the fans had waited patiently , They tried to cram in as many heats as possible before the 10-15 curfew . Poole had no way of knowing they'd gain heat advantages from any of the last 4 races ?3 points

The other weekend in Hull was a 2-day music festival on a local park; first day pop & indie, next was rock and metal (yes!). The sustained noise over the weekend (11am-10pm) was pretty loud and also included a funfair (12pm-8pm) with its own music + an idiot who clearly loved the sound of their own voice rambling constantly over the PA all day long, the fair had been there for the previous week + 2days of monster trucks. I was unable to attend but clearly heard the noise from maybe 1/2 mile away - actually has to be said most of the music, and especially the monster trucks, sounded pretty cool. After prob 10 days of all this activity + a more than generous helping of rain the local park is now a real mess. My point is that, ok, a lot of people had fun and good luck to them all, residents put up with the music fest, Hull Fest actually, but local authorities / NIMBYs won't permit / allow speedway which consists of just 20 mins of noise in short 1minute bursts....3 points

Lynn and Ipswich get Peterborough's heat leaders, Peterborough get a dropped for a reason rider must be overjoyed.3 points

It was the Referee’s decision to impose a 10.15pm deadline. It was discussed and agreed with both teams and the promotion before the paramedic had even begun his return journey. had the paramedic not returned within any reasonable time to allow for any more racing before that deadline it was agreed we would call a halt. The principle consideration by all concerned was for the fans .... (not withstanding the injured riders’ welfare)3 points

And reported broken ribs for Covatti, so both out for quite a while, maybe the season I would think and I wish them both a speedy recovery , Had broken ribs a couple of times myself and it is very painful. They were both scoring pretty well too and will be a big loss to the team.3 points

Well what I have seen so far this year proctor, Jorgensen and kerr need to go as well as S lambert. Team needs a major overhaul Riss, Iversen and 2 others needed ASAP3 points

I went into this meeting thinking " The Bears are going to have everyone firing to win this one against a very strong Lions team. Now, I'm telling myself, " Oh Ye Of Little Faith ". Cracking result for the Bears. How good too, the meeting had to be delayed due to huge queues wanting to get on. How often have you head that said ? UTB !!!2 points

It was agreeded by everyone concerned that the meeting would run till 10.15, and Poole won 37 - 35, both teams had the same chance to win it, funny nobody has mentioned that a Poole rider had to come out 3 races on the trot with hardly a break in between2 points

I hear they were drug testing riders tonight. Wonder if anyone failed2 points

In your own strange way , you're actually agreeing with Sharpen Rake . Whether Ruddick made it to the first corner or not is irrelevant, he scored zero and Coles should score at least a couple which puts you favourites to win even forgetting the increased scoring potential of Palovaara and Howarth2 points

Oh dear new stadium rejected... what now... maybe they will beg the speedway to come back...2 points

If Nico has got through on the inside I felt confident Richie would have got around Berge on the final bend. They spent three laps tripping over themselves trying moves but blocking each other.2 points

Of course you're stronger , Howarth instead of Wethers !!!!! Howarth could score more on his own than what Wethers , Sedgmen and Ruddick scored together in the Shield match . So the usual downplaying of their chances by the salt and sauce mob won't wash this time . But I'll be there tonight in red and white hoping against hope that our boys can do it again .2 points

Having spoken to someone from Somerset last night, they were not happy with the track and an extended meeting was held after the meeting to make sure this doesn't happen again.2 points

Could be a decent guest reserve on Monday!!? He would certainly be up for it - especially if there was the carrot of a team place being dangled?!1 point

The 5 of them will be busy on Sunday when Gap gets his statutory 3 rides so will have 5 extra rides between them1 point

As expected it wells that's gone. Aarnio replaces. Welcome tero. While this does slightly improve us (if he brings his form abroad) it should have bee for berge and not wells. Or at least make 2 signings.1 point

It's as good a change as we can expect. Positive and forward-looking, The right move in my mind. If they all stay injury free that is as good a Stars team as we can hope for.1 point

Would only say we are slightly stronger than last time. Dont expect Coles to score what ruddick would get and Wells seems in a downward spiral at the moment. However Palovaara should score well and howarth too. Narrow monarchs win should be achievable but a Glasgow win would not be a surprise. Expect a heathly crowd as you West lot will smell a victory. If you see a wee boy running around on his own be my son who is a cookie fan and I disown him this meeting.1 point

I think that’s the bottom line. Made a slow start and I think it’s been magnified by his schedule. Not getting out of the start like he was last year which will always have a big impact on a speedway rider’s scoring.1 point

Awful. The only saving grace is that there were no league points at stake. And that two of those riders are to be replaced soon. A few of those remaining need to pull their socks up too.1 point

Latest from Sam Norris We are pleased to say after a very stressful and hectic day Sam is now in Addenbrookes. I flew with Sam with Scotstar who got us safely to Cambridge airport, Chris travelled by train. We would like to thank all the staff at Glasgow Royal children's hospital who cared for Sam and making it possible for him to be well enough to be transferred. They were absolutely outstanding and made us both feel a part of Sam's treatment, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you also to Ronald McDonald accommodation for giving us somewhere to stay and for our lovely chats. Now we begin Sam's ride to recovery. Claire and ChrisThank you also to Peter Facenna for providing accommodation for the days we didnt have other and Jim McGregor for his support.1 point

IF it goes up to 40 (not sure about that, but no doubt someone will know!) we have 2.03 on the July averages (see my post earlier on this page - I wish the posts were numbered like they used to be!!!).1 point

Not sure how they didn't know when the interval was, as it was extended. The riders came around the crowd during the extended interval to do the collection. Think the Redcar manager just Ballsed it up as 3 riders were at gate and Wright was on track for at least 30 seconds but not at line. He should also have gone from 15m imo...far better chance of points.1 point

The meeting being held on the Isle of White is exactly how I'd want all Clubs run. Standard engines, draw lots, stick in your own rolling chassis. Should of been introduced at the very start of Club Speedway...we then wouldn't have the farce of riders supplying their own engines to ride for a Club. And I should imagine a lot less expenditure on tuning. I personally couldn't give a stuff who has the best set up and fastest engine...I don't pay money to see that. I want four riders on equal machines, where their track craft and skill is more important. I can't get my head around why riders wouldn't want it like this anyway.1 point

Oh bugger, Matt has spent thousands getting in a road grader, etc to level the base and it wasn't necessary!! Why didn't Starry tell Matt that beforehand?1 point

I would just like to thank the Plymouth Speedway family for the generous bucket collection last night for injured rider Sam Norris. Everyone dug deep and raised just under £300,it will be topped up to £350 by the Plymouth Speedway riders fund. I will be contacting Sam's family to send the money to them. Thank you for your support. Stuart Kellie, Plymouth Speedway.1 point

Jacob looked more comfortable than Simon does at brough big move for the promotion... Not sure on his speed tho but he looks fast on his Todd as they all do but if he can score his average which I'm sure he will happy days & all people who doubt him.. let's hope he proves you all wrong1 point

Very pleased to get Jacob who I think will be a good replacement for Simon who obviously didn't have the style for Brough. Many were surprised when Jacob didn't get a ride with the Bears both last year and this year. Although his start with the Bears a few years ago didn't work out, he has always impressed when invited to ride in Open meetings and scored well on Friday in a big Redcar Open meeting. He rode well in a Amateur meeting at Redcar on Saturday, winning the top class for 500 cc's, and rode very well in the private practice session at Brough on Sunday afternoon, getting a lot of rides and being one of the last riders at the end. He lives locally now and, being a Dane, will be company for both Tomas and Lasse. I believe he is from Slangerup, which was Jespers home club, so might see Jesper to have words of advice for him. The timing of this move is spot on as Jacob will be at reserve, which will give him an easier run in the Diamonds ranks whilst he is finding his feet. I look forward to a more balanced team now, and hope that others in the team get over their current problems and score the points expected of them. Happy with this signing and team changes.1 point
