Wow wee bit banter and all this nonsense starts (thot emoticon showed that) . I had heard in Oct (while at the golden helmet) that Ricky was going to Glasgow next season so can see why ppl think he was lowering his avg. I don't believe for a second he lowered his average but some can't accept riders move on. Glas may not offer tons of ££ but I'm sure they offer consistent payments and decent sponsorship opportunities that may not be the case at all clubs.9 points

We are still here We are just waiting on the outcome of the AGM which must afford clubs the opportunity to have a proper speedway product which the public will continue to embrace and develop. We will update everyone shortly after the AGM5 points

Brilliant, if Rob Grant reads this forum, he can PM me to sort my commission out lol.4 points

If asked I certainly will be, just waiting for the phone to ring... If not I will still be in the same spot on the terraces and in the bar after the meeting... Plus I am supporting a couple of riders again this year... Regards John4 points

Think you know full well who offered to buy the club last Xmas, and probably the amount they offered4 points

The fact of the matter is, people would rather lose it than be forced to tolerate sub standard entertainment and lack of value for money. Why would anybody attend for the sake of it when they aren't happy with what they are watching?3 points

I take it that the 2 matches against Sheffield will see you maybe more Wolves fans boycotting the meeting, therefore denying your beloved Wolves much needed cash. At the present time, British speedway needs riders like N Pedersen more than N Pedersen needs British speedway.3 points

I'd say it's one of the best trophies to win in Speedway. Giving something back to those that need it most within the sport. A huge congratulations to the Ipswich fans for their contribution3 points

Bent Mudgaard. Name used by junior Alan Hartley who rode at Berwick I think mainly in late 60s early 70s2 points

Sooo obvious!! Can't believe people fell for it! Well you made him go quiet anyway, or he has a ban for calling Starman 4 different names in one post!2 points

I particularly liked the question about his goals for the season. Genius whoever asked that one!2 points

Heard it's Jason Crump on a reduced 4 point average. My brother works at the printers of the Adver2 points

Okay here is attempt No3 and honing it down a bit and working on the premise of who is left and trying to use up all 41 points... and now I have had me Greggs for me dinner I've come up with this lot... oh and a load of crumbs on me keyboard... NEWCASTLE DIAMONDS AVE -2.50% 1 Claus Vissing 8.43 8.43 2 Max Clegg 5.05 4.93 3 Ondrej Smetana 5.00 5.00 4 Matthew Wethers 6.92 6.92 5 Nico Covatti 7.82 7.82 6 Jacob Bukhave 4.00 4.00 7 James Sarjeant 4.00 3.90 Total: 41.22 41.00 I really would like to see Covatti at Brough but that might not happen for reasons beyond our control and I only stuck Sarj in as he fitted beautifully to take the team to 41 points and again because I haven't heard him mentioned anywhere, Other names I juggled with were Todd Kurtz 5.43 Alfie Bowtell 3.10* Tom Perry 3.47* Jurica Pavlic 8.18 Rene Bach 7.19 Bradley Wilson Dean 8.75 Joel Andersson 5.62 Victor Palovaara 6.25 Hans Andersen 9.26. Just to add that as far as I am aware Newcastle don't currently have the required licences to employ Aussies or Kiwis and Pavlic and Bach will potentially be in Poland plus Hans may not fancy it and finally the * comes with a 2.5% reduction. Its a real struggle to come up with names of riders when there aren't many left out there unless the club can pull a rabbit out of the hat and bring in a big surprise name... here's hoping and Good Luck to the up and coming Rob Grant Dynasty. Starting off on the back foot a little this year but if he can build on what is there; going forward I honestly believe the club is now in safe hands... Good luck bonny lad... Regards THJ2 points

Yes but not riding for wolves crowd would drop then. that will never happen again thankfully. When riding for opposition yes as he is so toxic to wolves supporters.2 points

Very good assessment imo, I would just add if he can go from 1 or 2 starts out of 5 to 4 out of 5, he’d quite easily go from 3rd heat leader to no.1 material in championship! No one in this league he can’t beat but it’s easier from the front!2 points

THJ? Probably the most talented Swede since Lindgren & Lindback, but probably a little past his best now. Had a poor 2019 season. He was a GP rider 5ish years ago. Never really fully committed to Britain. If he has no Polish commitments & decides British Speedway for him in 2020 riding in both leagues he could be a revelation. I have my doubts.2 points

Totally agree with you regarding Dan, end of season looking much better, & his trip to Australia banging in some very good meetings. He is a remarkable talent2 points

I would never boycott my team over an individual rider 2006/7 paying to watch Hamill the spoon week in week out was a bit tricky, but your team is the bigger picture.2 points

I had no idea Haru Aoki did AutoRace these days. He was a fantastic rider at 125cc level in the road racing GPs in the 90s, winning the World title twice. He never really delivered in the higher categories, but it's nice to know he's still out there racing bikes!1 point

Incredible natural talent that has not been fully unearthed due to a combination of niggling injury and (at his own admission until last year) personal preparation Stepped up big time last year and showed much more of the rider he could/should be All out racer that will get you off your seat most weeks. Will have the odd completely duff meeting for no apparent reason - and IMO getting rid of that trait is his next challenge1 point

The biggest single factor of why the fans have stopped going has to be VFM. It this world of tight restraints, fans find it much harder to find the extravagant admission costs that the promotions are needing to make ends meet. The equivalent of over a pound a race is excessive. When the majority of those are drawn out processional affairs, it doesn't take an Einstein to realise something is drastically wrong. Our Stadiums are old, our tracks are poor, and not suited to the super fast bikes of today. We are stuck in a rut from years gone bye, thinking the sport use to work, and believe it will again... Comparing Speedway to other sports like Moto GP, Superbike Racing, Formula 1 Saloon car racing, we must be the only sport that uses the said same bike for every occasion. You wouldn't see a MotoGP bike during club meetings, or a Red Bull F1 car during a endurance race, so why do we still use those expensive tuned bikes for our bread and butter league meetings that the crowds cant sustain. Promoters could cut the cost in an instant by introducing a standard, less powerful option ( eg. 400cc), that would be more conducive to our tracks and create closer racing. We could bring back the second halves and/or produce a 20 heat schedule. With cheaper bikes, the admission could be adjusted to an affordable level when hopefully the old fans would feel it was worth giving it another go. But then again, we could carry on as usual, losing more fans, doing nothing.....1 point

Dunno???,,, ok maybe swap him with Josh, local kid that should maybe be given a shot at it.1 point

Well no because they just wont have any home fixtures in the league until they’re 16? It’s quite simple really...1 point

He was being paid. The reference referred to the contract offered to him to ride for the cubs - he said the pay was not enough!1 point

This was a great race and a good advert for the sport. I remember watching it live and being thoroughly impressed by all three racers. I turned to my friend after the race to share impressions when he said, "and don't forget, they're all still 15 years old". The future really is bright.1 point
