Chris Holder to Peterborough, a club owned by Buster, I'm sure that will not happen3 points

Well someone will have the no1 jacket because there has to be one but it's just a mix of were once but never will be again, along with the never will be anyway and the usual wouldn't put any money of any of them to win a race that mattered.3 points

Yes indeed. We often discuss greatest riders ever, greatest Britons and so on. Now whether Tom Farndon could be reckoned the greatest ever is, of course, open to speculation and there are many rivals for both accolades (greatest ever and greatest Briton), but what I think is not in doubt is the legendary reputation Farndon left behind him due to his personality and, to use a word that probably wasn't around in his time, sheer charisma. He was idolised in his day in a way that no other rider before or since has been. I think that has much to do with why his memory lives on.2 points

Seems odd to think that he would be 109 years old now....yet still remembered with reverence2 points

Take no notice of Dick (head) Barrie and his suggestions of Keleher being a better prospect than Kennedy. He isnt.2 points

In my opinion it has been shown time and again that one season proves nothing. Riders can take one season or five seasons to make the grade and move up the leagues.2 points

Depends who is speaking at the time. If it's British Speedway legend Chris 'Bomber' Harris then yes. If it's some random Ippo fan then no.2 points

Where is the proof of the sale falling through. Harris should know who the owner is and who paid Bomber his wages last year. If he say's it's Buster and all the evidence online say's Buster then I will take Bomber's word over a couple of Ippo clowns on the BSF until they've shown me proof of the sale falling through. You send me an article link and I'll say no more. Until then I'll go with Bomber's opinion. Chris Harris' words not mine. You've tried to get a reaction all over the festive period. Word of advice. Wouldn't waste your time. It's got you nowhere so far and that trend will just continue. Happy New Year to you and your family. Have a good one.2 points

Technically Blu is correct. There was no year 0 AD. It went from 1 BC to 1 AD. This calendar wasn't worked out till the 6th century mind you - folks in the BC era didn't know when/if Jesus was going to be born!!2 points

After reading all the various predictions that have been posted I would like to draw your attention to a score from last year when Glasgow suffered the heaviest defeat at home to Scunthorpe ( Scuni won 53 to 37 ) At the start of the 2019 season no one would have predict a home loss like this, so its all ifs and buts again for 2020. All i want to see is some good racing, all riders leaving meetings in the same transport they arrive in and that Scuni make the play offs and the go on to be the league champions AGAIN.2 points

How is Bachelor not an out and out No 1, and how are B Kurtz and J Holder journeymen. Also how is D Bewley not a future No 1. Poole's decision to drop into the CL IMHO is for financial reasons, and the owner unable to sell his club.2 points

Like Alan Grahame who, if my memory serves, set an unofficial track record at Cradley Heath for going the wrong way round. He used to remove the footrest for this particular party piece. Not sure if he was left handed though.2 points

More than offset no doubt by those the club are getting in from rider assets staying in Prem with other clubs this coming season. I would love to see 2 young Aussies come in on top of Josh Mac. Problem is are Poole looking for a league winning team or are they looking to build an asset base and have these young Aussies with a view to the future. Say for example we signed Keleher (who seems the obvious choice of what is openly available and probably the fav based on his comments about ready to do Uk )and then combine with any one of Kennedy (personally doubt he would be the choice) or one of the up and coming youngsters such as Gilmore/Jed List or another young up and coming 17 year old Jacob Hook. Hook just beat List in an exciting Final U21 meeting recently and both look potential young talents as List only recently turned 18 in Nov. If you factor in an exciting looking Gilmore at 19 - plus he is signed for next 2 years by Steiner (POL Lge 2 - Leszno's nursery club) - plus he did well in the few meetings he rode for them in 2019 when on a short visit to Europe. Would the problem not be that we would have a long tail with Nielsen/Josh Mac plus another 2 Aussies ??. Some riders with poss exciting futures but we could pay dearly in some meetings and in our attempt to make the play offs. The flip side is we only have (to my knowledge based on the official final GSA's) 8.97 left anyway which means we cant sign a 5 pointer and a 4 pointer anyway (by 0.03) which kind of narrows the options. As for the comment from someone about Todd Kurtz plus say Hume, I personally think that will be more of an enforced situation on what's left available as Kurtz is the near enough only established Champ rider (besides Bjerre) not to have signed for a Champ team. Not an easy one as comes down to do you want to see 2 young Aussies with potential to improve or a steady 5 pointer (which is all Kurtz is) plus a N/L rider to squeeze into the 8.97 left available. Of course the other BIG question on the Aussies is do they want to come over (besides Keleher/Kennedy who are 26/21) when so young. We know List only lasted a few weeks in 2019 before being emptied but he was only 17 and maybe a bit unfair as perhaps not ready and so far from home. He looked fast in the U21 meeting going 5 rides unbeaten and only just lost to Hook in the Final.1 point

If you really want an answer...Batchelor had a great 2019. But he’s still not a number one, is he? Kurtz and Holder J didn’t really improve in UK in 2019 in what was a weaker league. BK put less than half a point on his average, Holder 0.1. Even Grajczonek improved by more. Holder had 16 home meetings, 10 riding at number 1, 6 at number 5. You need and expect your number one and number five to win their first outings or, if they’re up against a top opponent, at least get 2nd. JH had one win and one paid win out of 16, 7 2nds or paid seconds, 3 thirds and 4 lasts. That’s third heat leader performance at best. Journeyman position. As far as Dan Bewley is concerned, it would be great to see him continue to improve. He should certainly kick on from 2019, a season that started slowly after his bad accident. And he’s having a good winter in Australia. He’s got the ability to improve in 2020, and his target should certainly be to outscore BK and Kildemand. Will that make him a proper number one? As good as Jason Doyle? Robert Lambert? Craig Cook even? Time will tell1 point

Quite right. We all celebrated the new millennium a year early. Each new decade ( and therefore century) starts on January 1st in the year ending in 1 e.g. 2001. Pedants rule, okay?1 point

Thanks Taps - and a Guid New Year to you all too. Doing as well as is possible in the bowels of Narf'k. No speedway at all for me this past year - we are close-ish to Saddlebow Rd but I won't give my pennies to Chapman. Enjoy the high life in the PL!!1 point

He still done a good solid job in his 1st season in the National league and would've learned so much in readiness for next season ( lucky lad is soaking up the sun now on his jollys in Tenerife )1 point

What Pl teams will have Jason Doyle and Troy Batchelor as a top two for a start .1 point

Perhaps the best solution is pay a set fee per position in the race so here is an incentive to push harder for the higher finishing positions? Or additionally compensate for he handicap so riders off 20m get an extra tenner, 10m get a fiver and off the line go from scratch?1 point

But I like the idea of 5% reduction! Would give British riders even better chance of team places. Always felt 2.5% was a bit low1 point

Panthers in the brown stuff in the big heats, if they are still in the contest at that point, but less stewards needed as they can close of half the stand1 point

It is tough but that is how it works until somebody comes up with another way of team building from year to year.1 point

Sad to hear this. Doug was a major rider in the PL which remains easily my all time favourite league. So many huge personalities who seemed to appreciate the opportunity of riding after the near total demise of Speedway in this country. An all in it together time. Very different from the mid 80’s onwards when Speedway became very much a “me” environment by all concerned. RIP Doug.1 point
