  1. Some great racing last night. Phenomenal to be back and see people and live racing again. Credit to all that put on the show. Just need the government to see sense and relinquish their unnecessary control over people.

  2. FFS Berwick, three race wins from the main body. Eastbourne in disguise. Someone needs to have a word, Flint & Bickley cant be expected to carry the team every week but if they could all ride the same in a fortnights time that would be great.

  3. Jordan has great potential. One season as a 15 year old where he averaged just ove 9. Good racer. He will need time to progress in this division.Perseverance is the key here

  8. The rising star system is pointless if you aren’t going to protect their position in the team and look to replace them if not going so well or a better option comes along. It’s supposed to be a long term view to produce good riders to represent GB so ditching one after a few meetings because it may improve your play off chances is daft.

  9. Was his late call off really taken that badly? In some way I can understand his reluctance to commit to travelling when things were as they were. Bringing him back into the team would be harsh on Jack, but sometimes these moves have to be made to ensure success.

  10. Indeed " If only eh? " Quite refreshing watching a good, close, well contested meeting where every point seems important. I'm glad the majority of the Polish meertings seem to have that same ethos. 15 heats of entertaining racing finished in 1 hour 50 minutes, followed by the whole team thanking/enacting with the supporters. Watching tonight, really brings home how poor the speedway spectacle in this country has sunk to. Still we can look forward to Peterborough on Monday evning!!

  11. Couldn’t agree more with your last sentence I like many other’s had to make do with the stream and whilst it is appreciated it is a distant second to being there in the flesh. Unfortunately Herr Furher will continue with her policy of crippling the economy and deprive the majority of enjoying themselves it’s what she enjoys, telling people what they are not allowed to do.

  12. Just to bring a few positives to the forum, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting (apart from all the restrictions). When I looked at our team I thought maybe Ben Cook could be the weak link, just shows what I know! Danyon Hume looked a lot better than his zero score would suggest and I was impressed that Zane Keleher took the opportunity to practice after the meeting. Everybody I think will improve as they get used to the track. And how good did the track look? I haven't seen it as smooth as that for a while! Also, even though I am an old 'un, It was great to hear some music that wasn't from 50 years ago!

  14. Why everyone needs to unite and stick two fingers up to BoJo and the other clowns that run this country. Restrictions won't be lifted until 2024. 4 week delay will then become another 4 followed by a full lockdown over the winter.

  17. Firstly, I sent my best wishes to Josh Auty, and hope any injury sustained isn't major.. Racing got better as the night went on... track prep in hot hot weather must be difficult, well done to the lions track staff... Scorpions did themselfs proud tonight, not many teams will get 40+ at the lions den oh, the chippy was quality too

  18. Kennett was appalling tonight, with his experience at Arlington, no matter how the track was prepared, and it was over watered, he should have able to stay on the bike, 3+1 just isn't good enough. Not a lot we can do really, but won't make the top 6 if we have to keep carrying him. He will obviously drop from No1 shortly, but unless his form does improve whatever position he ends up in will be weaker than now. On a better note, Kyle now looks better than ever, and was so unlucky with the engine failure, and Richard Lawson had some great rides, but at the end of the day we never led it, and Edinburgh did a solid job throughout the meeting and overall deserved the victory.

  20. For me that’s irrelevant. Every track has a minimum limit they can go to. It’s clear the lowest limit for Wolves is extremely higher than the 750 that’s been quoted as a maximum so it’s no wonder the word ‘extreme’ has been mentioned. Wolves are one of those tracks that you never get threats of closure or need to increase attendances with threats of closure so the facts it’s been mentioned is extremely worrying. Hats off to those promoters who were prepared to risk losing money until things opened up again which would have been just over a month. The ludicrous extra sanctions put on clubs like Wolves (and Birmingham) have made it almost impossible to continue much after the 21st. It’s the local councils that are forcing these closures which is beyond barking mad. I can see the UK leagues going on hold again until this nonsense of restrictions is fully lifted. Some clubs may never recover and this a direct result of their councils and the bs advise of experts advising the government. There is no credible science to NOT lift all restrictions on the 21st, and sports/leisure/entertainment/food and drink industries should know that it’s fine to carry on and NOT have to wait till the 14th for news. It’s beyond scandalous.

  23. Just a mention to Lambert who was superb tonight using an engine bought from a top rider(you still have to set it up using other parts of your bike, though, & throttle control). For me, other riders performed well & the meeting was won but I would have given him his glory of a full maximum & not put him in heat 15. A lovely bit of banter between Lambert & Rob at the start line near the Roynon incident, after Lambert came over to check on Roynon's health, Lambert said he wanted a re-run to get another chance for his maximum & Rob replied with "must do better then". Brilliant.

  25. Having the benefit of Drew Kemp at the bottom of their team gives a huge advantage to Plymouth. Danny King for Jason Crump....not much in it I guess. Steve Worrall should compensate for no Cameron but still a tough match for the Kings IMO.

  26. What is the purpose of the no three league idea and why can’t it be scrapped? Surely young riders racing as much as they can van only be a good thing and fixture clashes could be worked round.

  27. Based upon opinions here and elsewhere, it looks to me that everyone wants Isle of Wight to stage their planned meetings - all except a few members of the BSPL, that is (I am far from convinced that it applies to all of them). With one track suspending fixtures, another reporting heavy losses and a very real possibility that the 21 June deadline will be extended, you would think they would have more important matters to consider and being doing everything possible to ensure as much Speedway as possible takes place.

  29. Well apart from the result, I really enjoyed it. The stream (although it went off briefly a couple of times) was excellent quality, decent commentary, interviews and a good production. Well done to Glasgow for providing it. Bears were never really in it but battled hard and were involved in some excellent races, Wright and Allen in particular. MPT started really slowly and whilst both of the reserves gave it their all they weren’t quite on the pace. Anders struggled and r/r only got 3 points so that tells it’s own tale. Glasgow have an excellent, well balanced team and have a cracking reserve in Jensen so will win many more matches, home and away this year. Hume rode brilliantly at reserve too and was more than an adequate replacement for Jack Smith. Track got very slick and dusty at the end but there was some really good races. No disgrace to get beaten by Glasgow (we will do well to beat them at home) and will give some teams a proper hammering I’m sure. They look like the team to beat to me and as was said on commentary things seem to be falling nicely into place for them.

  33. Well another reason I would have changed order is that 3 and 4 are partners for three races which means the only time Newman can get his r/r in is heat 14 and I really don't fancy Newman and Edwards against Josh Pickering. As regards Heat 1 I would use Newman there. It is up to Kennett as No 1 to do his job and Newman should handle Greaves. You have not got to win the match in heat one and it gets rid of one of your weaker r/r's whilst the opposition are working out the track. Fun to be a team manger don't you think?

  34. Because it's part of a government test event. It's obviously frustrating for everyone else throughout all sports who are struggling to keep going with limited crowds but the reality is the only way they'll get back to full capacity is through these bigger events being a success.

  35. Yes agreed, BUT there are very few Premiership ONLY riders . I make it 4 (Batchelor Bewlay Becker H Andersen) Of those they woudl probably complan about extra meetings in the UK due to extra travelling to Europe. The vast majority rely on racing in at least 2 UK leagues, They would take a reduction in meetings.

  36. I would suggest the "no refund" policy is definitely one that is hurting some tracks... Some I notice are doing full refunds so maybe all should just come out and say that full refunds will be given if the match doesnt take place, rather than "use your ticket for another match"... Away fans in particular may not be able to get to a restaging and it seems daft (and no doubt worrying), to have tickets available when capacity is so reduced and not do everything you can to get whatever the maximum is, into the stadium.. Any barriers to getting customers to give you their money are never a good thing..

  38. Any information on why phones couldn't have been used to book tickets? Or were they? Surely people are able to ring up, use their card to buy, and either have them sent to their home, or the barcode sent to their phone? Or even pick them up on the night..? There is a though a myth that 50 somethings dont use computers. Most of us are extremely computer and internet savvy.. Especially when the wife suddenly walks in to the room..

  40. Whilst its disappointing news, I wouldn't say its unexpected if I'm honest. Hopefully this action helps to preserve the club long term so I don't disagree with what they have done. If the government delay freedom day then I would think the season would have to be suspended anyway. I do think there are a number of additional issues affecting the club at the minute. Obviously the vandalism was huge and costly for the management, in that regard its remarkable we even came to the tapes. The road works around the stadium are awful, apart from speedway I avoid Perry Barr all together. It can take 30-60 mins if your come from the city centre in evening rush hour, thats from Aston six ways island to the stadium, probably about a 1/2 miles. In addition there's the sprint bus works being done the A34 from Great Barr. I don't know how bad they are but the ones on the Coventry Road are a disgrace. Then we have the train station situation with no trains stopping at Perry Barr till 2022 due to major work. As bad as these issues are, come 2022 it will be much better if they are completed on time. However currently its bound to impact at the minute of course completely out of the clubs control. The issues around the first meeting with track and the whole experience were really damaging. It was one of the worst nights for me at PB in 14 years of going. I wasn't sure whether to go to the Glasgow match but you cant turn your back to your club in their hour of need. I'm glad I went because the track staff worked their socks off to get it rideable and even raceable given what happened. Fingers crossed we are able to come back whether that's this season or next but sadly i don't feel the Brummies will be the last club to announce this.

  42. Sorry " Ringitsneck", but history has shown that UK speedway administrators have repeatedly failed to change the sport to attract and entertain new spectators to the sport, failed to attract new investment into the sport and failed to provide a fair, transparent and democratic leadership structure. Any attempts of new ideas brought in by "others" have always been debunked. They are still marketing the same old 15 heat 4 laps a race clutch start 7 man team format for every meeting , all riders messing around endlessly before every heat. TIRED is one word that sums up the entertainment offer. They have sensibly made their group a Limited company, in anticipation of the day when they have to wind up. You would have thought that the admin. would bend over backwards to ensure as many clubs line up to tapes every season ...... but we see a steady loss of venues and the remaining "clique" of promoters just shrug their shoulders. Will the Premier League complete the 2021 season ? We started with only 6 and might only have 5. The lack of action on the top table to promote and market the sport in the UK is reprehensible. Speedway will survive IMO, but run by a disparate group of promoters who will rent a venue on an occasional basis for individual invitation meetings, with token prize money offered (just like UK grasstrack). This perhaps is not dissimilar to the ideas of the IoW promotion .... but this is where the sport is heading, and what the public will pay to watch in numbers. People want an afternoon/evening out, to be entertained, with plenty of track action, and not be be subjected to 15 drawn out heats of tyre warming , 2 minute warnings, separated every 3/4 heats by tractor racing.

  45. Believe me, they are very busy trying to swat it away and hide it under the carpet. Rumour has it there's now a special Anlas Lubricant that must be used on the inside of the tyre when fitting to make all the problems go away. You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried. If this lot had another brain cell they'd be a plant.
