  1. Now that the 2nd Lublin Grand Prix is over let me get back to Falubaz, who has no clue about myself and talks utter rubbish. I am not an emigrant, or educated at the primary school level, but the 1969 Poznan University graduate. My first speedway meeting that I watched in Bydgoszcz was in late 50's. Mieczysław "Mike" Polukard, Poland's first world finalist from Bydgoszcz, was my childhood hero, so anyone can guess how old I am. Whilst living in London, every Friday I cheered for Zuper Zenon and Hackney Hawks. For my retirement I returned back home to Bydgoszcz and still follow speedway worldwide..so don't believe anything Falubaz says...just ignore him.

  2. Well THANK YOU for nothing!!! Do he fans EVER come into consideration??? Money wasted on Leicester call off and now this. I sympathise with Birmingham’s problems but this is NO WAY to treat loyal fans. To say I am furious is an understatement ...........

  3. I think we had the product a few seasons ago at Eastbourne and clubs like Birmingham and Kent, with the right balance of good racing and cost, the NL as it was at that time, too successful though for the upper echelon of the BSPA , so they had to put a stop to that. I know this will open up the 'but it's a development league', but it didn't do much harm to for the likes of Brennen, Kemp plus too many to mention.

  5. Well done ref. Lindgren has been riding on the edge far too much in the past couple of years.

  6. This could have reverted to Edinburgh in the league rather than it being on 15 September and it would have followed your logic. But of course visiting supporters don't count do they?

  9. To be fair.. It is UK Speedway.. Hardly surprising is it? I am to be honest, given the clear track record and history, surprised anyone would plan in anything around the UK fixtures given so much can change at a moments notice.. Its brave people who do..

  14. Watching them spend all this time working on the track reminds me of someone trying to give a bald man a haircut..... Hope they cure that fault on bend two - vital race for Kemp coming up. Needs a second to guarantee silver while a win would need Gusts to drop a point in his final ride to force a run-off. It's not looking likely, given Gusts' opponents in his last race. Either way Drew has put in an outstanding performance - only rider to beat Gusts - so far

  15. The fact that the stadium owners have been spending money on the re-shaping of the greyhound track would suggest that they don't have any immediate plans to knock the place down for housing. That doesn't guarantee the speedway will return of course.Time will tell.

  16. That's why you need to keep upto date with the speedway rule book, it changes quicker than the red, amber, green holiday destination list.

  19. Bad management. Why no Hume in Heat12? Hed just won Heat 11. Not rocket science. But then again, it is Havvy................

  23. If the league takes priority as they imply Edinburgh still have to visit Birmingham in the league so why not just change Wednesday to the league fixture and the Edinburgh fans who had planned on going wouldn’t be left out of pocket !!

  24. Well that's that visit b------d! Accommodation was booked for Edinburgh meeting. Thanks very much NOT!!

  25. I think people would pay to watch it if they were getting value for their money and in all a good night out. Sadly they are not.

  26. Why Speedway is failing? .......how about not enough people want to pay to watch it ?

  27. I think when the NL 'peaked' about 5 seasons ago it was probably around the standard of a Championship Lite today, so would be ideal. At one point we had Adam Ellis( on the way up) and Ellis Perks in the team ( and still didn't win the playoff that year). Similar standard today as of then, would still lead to the likes of Brennen, the Thompson's etc improving to heat leader status, and the likes of Abblit progressing maybe more quickly than now, and still leave room for the emerging talent to come in at reserve. Maybe be able to expand the second halves at these meetings and always have SDL and MDL meetings etc after to bring that talent. Won't happen though .

  31. Great to see track covers in use again.. So many meetings get called off prior to race night (now seemingly days in advance), yet the night itself could have easily seen the meeting take place...

  34. Yes, I note the rain is forecast to stop about 4.00pm which could be earlier. Water will already be in the base of the track, so if we can cope with the 'new' rain the track will only need preparing and grading, but not need watering apart from the extra that goes into the starting area. With the new time of 4.00 pm start, it is feasible that if the rain goes on till 4.00pm, the start could be easily delayed, which means we have a better chance of the meeting going ahead, especially with the importance of this meeting and the appeal of our opponents. it is always a possibility, so don't give up if it's still raining in the afternoon. Here's hoping.

  36. The affordable 'de facto' standard that it would appear all clubs could race at in the UK without the threat of closure... Or maybe one level up could be affordable? Championship Lite/NL plus?

  37. I recall that during second halves at Cowley in 1972 Grasstrackers would often perform on their grasstrack bikes...the likes of Julian Wigg, Ken Matthews and the Drewett Brothers. Made for good entertainment.

  38. I think the last 18 months have changed peoples lives forever. Many have lost family and friends, their jobs and in some cases their homes. It's impossible to carry on as normal. I know my relationship with my premier league football team will never be the same. I'm a lot more reluctant to hand over vast sums of money anymore. I'm sure a lot of speedway fans feel the same. For the sport to have any chance of survival, first it must learn to live within its means.
