6:15pm on Sunday. That genuinely was one of the best speedway meetings I have ever had the pleasure of calling. Full credit to the referee for whizzing it through to beat the rain, the riders for an incredible show, the fans for creating an amazing atmosphere, and thanks everyone for watching. A draw was certainly a fitting result - tonight, the sport of Speedway was the winner.13 points

That was outstanding, absolutely light years ahead of anything in this country in all aspects.8 points

With so few riders in the U.K. riding abroad, clubs should ride on whatever night they wish.7 points

Does it really matter. Speedway has no credibility as a professional sport.6 points

The correct section is ‘International World Of Speedway’ but not everyone looks in there - Thought it would be a good idea to let as many fans know of free tv speedway who may not have known about this and featuring Tai Woffenden, Macief Janowski, Dan Bewley, and of course the current World Championship leader Artem Laguta amongst others - For me as long as it means at least one speedway fan now knows about it and will be able to watch it then I think it is justified -4 points

Your right in one respect, the riders do tell the BSPA when and where they want to ride. That’s why the sport is a shambles in GB.3 points

A lot has been mentioned here about the money involved in running speedway. It is purely on this basis that I believe Newcastle will not run next year. You simply have to look at the Financial Accounts on companies house for previous years to see the figures/ losses involved. What gets me is that previous owners must have known about the tax situation, so in my opinion Granty taking over the club only delayed the inevitable as he did try to make a go of things. His business style reflects his riding style, and I have nothing but admiration for the man for what he has done. I would be interested in a fan based donation if one was set up. For my sins ( I say in jest before the snowflakes appear) I live in Glasgow, so have witnessed what the Facennas et al have done (albeit from a distance). One thing I have noticed and admired is the marketing of Glasgow. Various posters, billboards dotted around the city clearly advertising the speedway. I don’t see the same overt advertising around Newcastle….(I stand to be corrected however) but is this something the club has missed? Also Glasgow have a Facebook page in Polish for the Polish community of Glasgow. My point is… has Newcastle missed a trick somewhere? Or has it been a case of fighting other fires from day one and the inevitable was going to happen? If money was always going to be tight, then why was a NL side set up at the beginning? (Note this is not a criticism but a genuine question as I do not know the inner workings and figures of running a speedway outfit). Lastly..did anyone else find the track walk an emotional experience? One minute walking around in awe of being on the track & thinking about the legendary names who have graced the very shale you are walking on…the next moment realising why you are there.3 points

Why speedway continually shoots its self in the foot Birmingham Brummies win away and get 3 league pts at lowly Newcastle Diamonds using 3 guests scoring 22 pts from programmed rides and then rider replacement rides to win 44 - 45 away at Newcastle . This Tally doesn’t leave your number 1 and 5 riders needing to score a lot of points from there 4 programmed rides plus the Heat 15 heat against a weakened Newcastle Diamonds side ravaged by injury and withdrawal riders . Try explaining this to your work colleagues in morning over a cup of tea and biscuits at lunch break. .??? Unbelievable Jeff Basically a sport on its Ars* it has to change2 points

Maybe its not , but why stop a rider from going home to his family in Denmark and attending any celebrations/functions that may of already been arranged to mark the end of his danish racing career , the meeting was in many respects unimportant since the play offs were decided by a meeting , dispensation was given for him to miss the meeting and the facility allowed, the same as Ben Barker for missing a match at Newcastle last sunday due to him not being in the right mindset after the passing of his good friend Dave Tattum should he of been suspended under the rules of a non related speedway injury or should a bit of common sence of been applied, its clear in both cases the latter was the correct decision .2 points

Absolutely pathetic from the Stars tonight.I really don't know why I bothered as I said earlier. No fight from the team,no morale,no team spirit. Why do we have a different captain every week this doesn't help things imo.Why should we bother when they don't seem to. No tac sub,or I didn't see it anyway. No disrespect to Jenkins but why four rides and not 5 for Kasper. I may have gone over the top a bit but this is how I feel about my club at present. And about the sport in general how rules are allowed to be broken for fun.Either you have a rule book or you don't,simple. Well done Panthers, tougher fixtures ahead in the play offs .I hope you come through them with flying colours like you did tonight.Hopefully come along to the semi against Wolves,I take it Rob chose them after finishing top tonight. I hope I can summon some enthusiasm for next season. But team building doesn't look only 50/50 so far for me.Already one of Allitt's boys signed.2 points

I have no alliegence to either club but if Glasgow could see there way to letting Birmingham have a point I’d be over the moon to see Scunthorpe not make the playoffs.2 points

Should have been allowed a guest for Laguta... Artem could have rode for both teams and took his brothers rides.. Would have only needed a letter changing in the programme too... Not a clue Poland have they?2 points

Does this mean premiership meetings on eurosport will now get mentioned in the international section? Like you say if it means that at least one fan knows about it then it will be justified.2 points

Old Bob you need to have a real think sometimes in what you say ? ? Lee Kilby is not to blame in what happened at Eastbourne as for the 500 k houses 500 k you are joking ??? Those people who bought those premises should have no say whatsoever they knew the speedway was there it has been there from 1949 simples. If they are not happy pick somewhere else they should have no say at all.2 points

I agree... Doesnt hold a candle to the UK does it? Get yourself along to Peterborough tomorrow to watch them race Kings Lynn... Now that is a proper Speedway meeting.. With so much riding on the result.. Who would want to watch World Class performers in action, on Freesports, competing for a title that is nationally recognised by many millions in Poland..? If I was you, I would take a tent and a sleeping bag and get myself in the queue this evening for tomorrow nights match at the Showground.... Crowd will be huge....2 points

The demise of speedway in the UK, for me, started a long while ago. Consistently reducing team averages constituted a dilution of the product on offer. Combined with ever increasing prices and value for money just went out of the window. Forget all the intervals, false starts, etc., speedway is in effect around 15 minutes of actual racing and for £18-£20 just isn't good value. I go to Belle Vue every week, because I always have done. Would speedway, in its current format, attract me as a new follower - probably not. For a conurbation the size of Greater Manchester, the crowds we get are really poor. Would they improve with better riders in the league, a reduction in pricing, better promotion in the local areas, well who knows?2 points

The whole concept is inherently flawed isn't it? Riders are paying out huge sums of money to buy what they feel is the required kit, to either get, and hold down, a team place and earn money, or further their own ambitions on the world stage... With the money they earn needing to be of a level to afford the kit they need, and provide them with 12 months salary for a six/seven month job... And to earn that level of money they then ride for all and sundry on an ad hoc basis to get as much as they can.. An ad hoc basis which cripples any credibility that the sport has, and reduces it to a contrived farce... A farce that drives people who loved watching Speedway,, (and still do), away... And if the farce that masquerades as a 'proper sport' isn't enough to drive you away,, admission fees then reflect the cost of the salaries of the riders rather than the credibility or entertainment level on view.. With the farce being so contrived it renders all the competitions worthless, from a kudos point of view, yet costs hundreds of thousands from a salary point of view... And all done on nights and days when the riders, rather than the customers, dictate to you when you should run.. An amazing plan... (An amazingly unfit for purpose plan)... Yet..... What a fantastic core product they have to sell.....1 point
