  1. Don't tell me, when you look in the window you see a reflection of KingoftheTrack looking back?

  2. When they persist in having all the major finals in October, they really do get what they deserve

  3. Toft got double figures in both A and B fixtures, the Panthers only got 5 from his rides last week. RR for Ulrich yielded just 3 points. Care to rethink your post. PS citing Tatum is a bit like using Katie Price as your expert on road traffic law.

  4. As was proven by the huge crowd at the GB/Australia Test, people will turn out in their droves to see top names they cannot expect to watch in regular action. The names of Tai and Bartoz (five World titles!) alone will pull them in, and having the rest of their nations' SON squads on parade as well is just icing on the cake. Full marks to Allied, and to Team GB for honouring their sponsorship. Can't wait!

  5. Well you are the one who bleats on here that they call off the meetings too early so cannot see what you have to moan about. They probably waited till they saw you had arrived and then called it off

  6. Unless you're Peterborough I take it, you're on the other thread saying how happy you are with the call off. You don't half spout some sh1te.

  7. The sport in this country would be better off with no tv coverage at all, it’s descended into a made for tv sport with the live fan very much second in the thoughts. TV was responsible for the tactical ride and the play offs, gimmicks designed to turn it into something artificially closer, never mind who the better team or rider was. Also the only reason why these meetings now run into October is because of TV, everything should be done and dusted before October. TV was supposed to help the sport, not aid it’s demise.

  8. T V has changed the top tiers sports schedule whereas in years gone by the sport and the meetings dictated the result rather than contrived fixtures. How can you seriously believe that a club who is fourth at the end of the league campaign meaning each team has raced against each other once or twice can then become champions because of the schedule and a change in rider averages which coincides with the play offs. Important meetings took place in October but that was after a full summer of racing, not the intermittent fixture list that exists today. The point is that with six teams in a league and not twelve or more, the sport should not be in a position of holding play offs in October. Yes I can remember meetings going to the wire in late October but not with a piss poor league of six clubs.

  9. We had 3 times as many teams in the league back in 1965 and it was well run. Plenty of time for non- league meetings too.

  10. The track at Sheffield looked worse than Peterborough’s and they are still trying to get that on. The sky looked clear as well at Peterborough so didn’t look like there would be any rain for a good while - so you have to question why they didn’t try harder to get it on IMHO

  11. This is the kind of meeting, British Speedway needs at this moment in time. Congrats to Glasgow for pulling it off. Up Team Gb!

  12. Can't see that happening. I think we should make the league winners champions

  13. You've used R/R most the season for a rider who got his average from riding at reserve, I'd say you've been very fortunate with injuries so far this season.

  14. And this year, thankfully, there is no chance of cheating Pirtaes being in the final.

  15. The four Poles qualified, only one Brit did. Bewley is one of my favourite riders, but he doesn't deserve a WC for next year. Maybe ready in 2024?

  16. They are Trees but during the peak of summer we hardly have any meetings, hence they have to be all crammed into the final month where it’s often cold and wet.

  17. If it had been watched by enough people Sky would have kept it going as the advertisers alone would have been happy for them to continue with it... And if tracks had some kind of covers to increase their chances of running, rather than calling off meetings on 'damp but raceable' ' nights, I am sure Sky would have been more inclined to keep the contract open. As it stood, it cost them a lot of money to take all their kit to a track, set up, and have nothing to broadcast.. Bottom line is UK Speedway had 'the cream of the crop' over here and each top league track got over £100k a year for a long, long time, (literally tens of millions was put into the sport), and when the contract ended UK Speedway wasn't any better at all for all that money they had received... And that is simply rank incompetence...

  18. Track covers can actually do more harm than good. They'll essentially make the track "sweat" and bring all the underground moisture to the surface. Once the covers come off and the track is open to the elements, that water will make the top surface like glass. I understand people think that covers keep the rain off the track which they do, but the underground moisture is just a big an issue than rain water.

  25. Remember you were told last season that there would be 2 Rising Stars in teams this year going forward so you will get 4 Stars which will allow for maximum combinations of a 3 + 1 Star or a 2 + 2 Star at reserve if you max out your Star ration.. After all it would be daft to stick in two 1 Star Reserves you may as well use up your star ration to the full... That will leave a figure to be chosen for the team building of the top 5 which due to the shortage of riders last season might be to a maximum of 35 but could be as low as 32 or even 30 for the Championship... The NDL will change possibly to clubs 2nd teams only so I am not sure where that will leave Mildenhall and the IOW (If they come back) and anyone else who thinks they could drop down into this league and thinking of Brum and Eastie here who have done this in the past or Oxford and Bradford if they were to come back and that is purely down to rider availability...Just personal thought that one though... Top league will be ok with the Super 6 but I would like to see a couple more added to this for a league of 8 or even 10 but cant see it happening somehow and let them build to 45 points so they can be as strong as possible... So 5 Stars for their reserves and 40 points for the 1 to 5... Finally I have been reading about this new Glasgow proposal that will be put forward by Michael Max amongst others which knowing Michael will be well thought out and lets face it could it be any worse than what we have at the minute with this rising star thing; looking forward to hearing more about this proposal and seeing how far it gets... lets hope its a winner. Regards THJ

  26. Whilst you are probably right that the numbers coming through is probably a little bit down (even basic maths of less tracks, less track time equals less riders developing through the sport) lowering the bar certainly hasn't and shouldn't be the answer. Riders need to be good enough to achieve team places not gain them because they are "young with potential" how about young and proven or just proven to be at a higher ability. Making concessions for age and lowering team averages has done immense harm to the league this year yet there are still riders who haven't improved upon the base signing 3.00 despite the lower limit meaning that natural inflation should have occurred across the board.

  27. It was a devastating crash. Like Forever blue it happened directing in front of me. Poole needed a 5-1 in heat 15 to win with Darcy and Chris. Ward led but entering lap 2 Chris had gone on the outside of a Coventry rider and slipped in behind Darcy as they entered the first bend. But Chris clipped Darcys back wheel, straightened toward the fence and ploughed in. To make matters far worse, the bike hit the airfence which lifted and Chris at high speed went straight underneath it hitting the Armco. Badly broken bones and months out from which he never fully recovered his previous form to this day.

  28. Who are Glasgow meeting in the playoffs? They are still waiting to find out who their opponents will be! Similarly they have been waiting since the summer to find out their semi final ko Cup opponents thanks to Birmingham cancelling their fixture with Edinburgh at short notice. Finally the GB meeting is being held on a night that is not their normal or alternative race night. Get a life!

  31. Vaculik will get a pick because he is in the top 10-12 riders in the world, not because he is Slovakian. The only way imo he wouldn't get a pick would be if he was Polish.

  36. It's obvious that they'll have at least one camera there, they even used it to show us the tractor work, I would've been happy to watch a single camera showing of the match at Sheffield, Dave Rowe will be there and is a more than competent commentator, it could have been done quite easily and most of us would have appreciated their efforts for doing it.

  37. Yes but your understanding was that Craig Cook was turning out for Peterborough tonight, you wouldn't shut up about it, done deal blah blah. So, on reflection, your understanding of things is completely worthless.

  42. We've got to remember it's a nice "problem"to have to pick between those three to represent GB but I just thought with the final being at Belle Vue it would have been Bewley+1

  43. Crump scored one or something last month for Ipswich at the EoES. Basically Cook is the only 'better' option on paper than Kerr and for whatever reason one or both parties didn't fancy it. Losing MPT is a blow for P'boro but if the track is how they like it and not how it was against Sheffield they should get the job done but I'd never write Wolves off, they are a team full if decent British League riders.

  44. Wolves rode the 2017 final without Freddie Lindgren and Jacob Thorsell, who I respectfully suggest are a better combined package than MPT & Ostergaard. We won away at Swindon and lost at home, losing overall by 1 point...........................................

  45. Good Luck Lewis..gutted MPT is out and with Our top man missing and Bjarne dropping to reserve I fear the worst. All season we've been excellent and I feel robbed that we can't track our main team at the crucial time.

  46. He only rode in the B fixture for Lynn scoring 5pts but hes a rider who could score anything on the night if he gets 4-5 and Peterborough get through hes done his job

  47. Rather Panthers made it through. Don’t want a tricky little track in a final.

  48. If you want TV to help the sport it should be a 15 minute highlight programme. The TV could still show the "best race of the meeting" from four different angles, but the potential punters wouldn't be aware it takes over two hours to run.
