As neither the BSPL Chairman or Vice-Chairman thought the biggest speedway event held in Britain this year worthy of their attendance, it’s no wonder that the belated press release - nearly 14 hours after the event was completed - gets it wrong. Having overseen the near collapse of the NDL, the league that was one of the things that helped all four of the GB riders find their way in the sport, they should now bow their heads in shame and walk away. The disastrous last few years, with problems accelerated rather than caused by Covid has shown that vested interest in decision making is dragging British speedway down the road to ruin. The new GB Team operation shows what can be done with skill, initiative, forward planning and total commitment. They deserve to be supported by people who understand about sport at the highest level and what it takes to be successful.

Slightly disappointing on the official website in the latest post congratulating team GB on their fantastic win, apart from his picture and name in the scorers, not a mention of Tom Brennen by name. Think 7 out if 8 points from his 2 rides deserved a mention, don't think we'd have qualified for the semis if he'd have scored 0,0.

I just can't believe that so many can't just accept that G.B. won fair and square according to the rules set before the event. Moaners is too kind to them they are just sad, sad people. I've seen Dan mature from his Comet days.....in 2018 he fractured his femur into 3 pieces..was maybe career ending..and yesterday... HE BECAME A WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!!!! IMO it was Zmarzlik who lost the Poles the final. He drifted wide cutting off Janowkis’ run around the outside. Janowski has rolled off to avoid contact but he was in the dirt by then and as we saw rolling off in the dirt is never a good idea. It’s a pairs event and Zmarzlik should have had been looking for where his partner was rather than racing his own race.

Just got in... Wow... What a night... Amazing from all four lads over the two nights.. Majic followed Zmarzlik obviously believing that the line one foot from the fence was 'the' line to ride and ended up getting too close to his team mate and actually travelling quicker.. But GB had already defeated them and turned a losing semi into a win so deserved every bit of luck.. And to cap an amazing win off, I had an incredible two days hospitality with Monster.. If Carlsberg made weekends...? Well, Monster did... And much, much better . Dan and Tom will move on from this immeasurably, and Robert will just have confirmed to himself, and the world, that he is truly at a top 10 (at least) level on the world stage.. And when you can win a World Title without Tai Woffinden you do have to feel incredible hope for the future. Special mention too to Hellstrom Bangs, the "worth the admission alone" cliche applies one million percent to him.. Come on now British Speedway. Dont balls this up and waste the opportunity to promote yourselves off the back of it... Oh what a night!!!

Team Rapid in Allsvenskan and Varde in DSL were also on his 2021 schedule. Someone said after today he deserved a British contract. My thought is he must have done something terrible to 'deserve' being stuck in British speedway

Jon Jon White was part of the Glasgow junior set up from late 1986 to 1989. He was always decked out in black with a tartan scarf. Even his machinery and van were black. His first appearance at Glasgow was in the Junior Grand Prix meeting in 1986 scoring an impressive 10 from 5. He was given a couple of outings for the junior side and was non-riding #8 for the senior side at Rye House. Ever friendly and determined to make it as a rider, this snippet from the Glasgow programme summed up his enthusiasm for the sport: "Junior Jon Jon White travelled from his Lake District home to be our #8 at Rye House, did the big end of his van on the way, hired another, and all for a second half ride and the grand sum of a fiver for his troubles!" I'm not 100% sure on this but I think a bad accident at King's Lynn in 1990 curtailed his racing career. Hans Nielsen appeared at Shawfield in 1988 to take part in a series of match races - he easily defeated Shane Bowes, Steve Lawson and Kenny McKinna. A planned 4-rider race ended up as a match race after Bowes & McKinna piled up at the first corner leaving Hans to defeat Phil Jeffrey in what was then a new track record of 65.6.

Firstly, I assume you mean Craig Cook but you don't have the gonads to say so. Secondly, GP superstar and many misdemeanours? When has Craig Cook claimed to be a superstar and when has he let down GB when competing for or representing them? As usual, lets make up a story based on prejudice and stupidity! If you were in anyway genuinely interested you would have been able to discover that the GB management, as in previous years, asked riders who wanted to compete in Grand Prix qualifiers, ride abroad, etc, etc, for season 2021. Some riders like Chris Harris said he'd be willing, Craig Cook decided his days of travelling abroad were over as he wanted more time with his family. A squad of riders were selected including U21s to ride for and represent GB. It is only right and fair that the riders named in the GB squad should be selected. Craig is better around Glasgow than Adam Ellis and Chris Harris but it would be unfair to ask squad members to forego their place, this is assuming that Craig would even want to do it, which I doubt.

SON 2022 SPEEDWAY OF NATIONS RUN IN ESBJERG IN 2022 OCTOBER 1, 2021 BY ESBJERG VIKINGS NEWS Next year, Granly Speedway Arena will form the framework for an innovative format, where as many as four races will be run on the same track in the same week. This makes Esbjerg the first host city for the world's largest event within speedway. A very special speedway summer is planned in Esbjerg in 2022, when the world elite will occupy Granly Speedway Arena for most of a week. It happens in the World Championships for couples (Speedway of Nations), where both semi-finals, the U21 final and the final itself are run on one and the same track for the first time, which makes it a unique event. With a large number of the world's best riders gathered in the new format, there is the prospect of an event that will receive significant international attention. - We are proud that together with Esbjerg Motorsport we have succeeded in attracting an event of the caliber that is of great importance not only for Esbjerg Municipality, but for the entire area. There will be guests from the rest of Denmark, but also from both participating nations and a number of other countries, which of course helps to show what we have to offer. We get a fantastic exposure on Discovery's channels, including especially Eurosport, and these are the kind of events that help to put Esbjerg and the entire Destination Wadden Sea coast on the map, says Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen (V), who believes that it can pave the way for several major races. - A distinguished piece of work has been done, where Esbjerg Motorsport has also drawn on a large, international network, which helps to make this possible. We hope that this will be the starting point for more international races to find their way to Esbjerg in the coming years, says Jesper Frost Rasmussen. And the NSS was a sell-out for both days of the final. But that's positive, so you won't mention that, because you just want something to moan about. How about just focusing on this: GREAT BRITAIN WON!

The whole idea of SON was to allow a lesser nation the chance to win, it works

I think that the BSPL dont have any input anymore to Team Great Britain do they? If that is correct.... It probably goes a long way in explaining the success last night...

Although Brennan was unbeaten, GB would still have won if they didn't use an U-21 rider! Actually Poland would have still top scored with no reserve & Denmark also would have made top 3 with no reserve! U-21 riders made no difference to top 3!

GB finished 15 points ahead of Australia. Even if Kai Ward had ridden he'd have scored 4 points (both Brennan's races were against a single Swede). That would still have allowed us to squeeze into the semis by a mere 11 points. But you can't fault Tom Brennan, and he certainly delivered under pressure in his Sunday ride, and like you I am underwhelmed by the speedwaygb coverage of our victory.

I thought it was a great spectacle which led to a superb finale. If, as you suggest, there were no play offs and final then the Sunday meeting would have been a dead rubber with no anticipation/excitement etc. and virtually nothing to play for. Perhaps some Polish fans might agree with you but I'm sure the vast majority of people including neutrals, TV viewers etc would prefer it as it was. Sport is all about excitement/edge of your seat stuff right up until the final whistle and the SON for me truly delivered on that score.

Maybe he should concentrate on only that.

There are plenty of other sports that the BBC don't mention either. This week we have seen 4 brilliant meetings all live on Eurosport which is a channel that is cheap and easy to subscribe to for many people. So, that is about 12 hours of coverage, plus the highlights are available as well. Whether BBC mention for 10 seconds on the breakfast program is not really that important by comparison.

I love the final as a finish to meeting…speedway is and should be about entertainment and let’s face it this meeting would have been over last night without it…a final keeps it all going to the end and allows a finish like today which was fantastic entertainment regardless on who would have ended up winning…..it was great entertainment…

But it does gb are the world pairs champions.
