Agree, there is a general entertainment point of view. It’s the structure of the sport, which IMO is struggling to attract new fans. It’s just not credible, and it’s mainly diehards which are keeping it afloat.3 points

Great to see Doyle remain loyal to Britsh Speedway. He's more of a Brit than Bewley, Lambert and Woffinden.3 points

I had a great day at the WSRA annual Norwich lunch today. Met up with some old friends, including Ove Fundin, Bert Harkins, Trevor Hedge, Tony Hurren (Hawkeye) and Terry Ripo (former Hackney and Mildenhall announcer). Other illustrious names at the lunch included Cyril Crane, Richard Greer, James Easter, Billy Bales, Ray Bales, Rob Hollingworth, Dingle Brown, Gavin Hedge, Dave Gagen, Graham Miles, Ollie Allen, Dave Allen and the great, the one and only, Buzz Burrows. Good food, good company and, best of all, I won first prize in the raffle!2 points

I actually think from a general 'entertainment' point of view with the level of riders being so similar it is actually worth watching.. I watched lots of domestic Speedway on TV and three 'live' and there was plenty to keep you interested.. Unfortunately it is clear that these riders cannot make one league pay therefore it all becomes a bit contrived and nonsensical, which obviously then takes more than a fair bit away from the event itself.. If only they could get the racing level within a proper team sport structure.. Unfortunately, until they do the sport will continue to underperform against its undoubted potential..2 points

Sorry I Will rephrase that, the standard is higher but it’s the same riders beating each other. There are certainly no superstar 10 pt average riders even though it is a weakened League.2 points

Lions 2019 Championship Shield Winners Championship League Winners Pirates 2021 Championship KO Cup Winners Championship League Winners I regularly attend both tracks, as well others, with Leicester being my nearest and I support Poole. The amount of success that both club's av achieved with both doing the double, either side of lockdown, is a remarkable achievement. In fact Lions cud've done the treble if it wasn't for avin to track an under strength side at Eastbourne in the KO Cup. I'd like to wish all at both clubs continued success, but don't mention the Scottish club! .....was a fine ride by Ellis Perks!2 points

At least if you did sign Basso, he won't be visiting Poole as he'll be riding in Denmark.2 points

For most tracks in the UK regular practice sessions and or coaching events are nigh on impossible Only a handful have few if any restrictions of use My local track for example (Ipswich) are limited not only by landlord expectations but also local authority restrictions The stadium is only allowed to hold a maximum number of events each year *can't recall the exact number but it may well be less than 1 a week on average There is then a restriction of no more than 2 events in any 8 day period as well as limitations as to what times and for how long the event takes place Get over any of that and you then have the fact that the landlord would want in excess of £3000 to open the doors1 point

Not sure Chris Harris would agree again to being told where hes riding instead of where he wants to ride , he did that once with the Panthers to Ipswich move and dont think his heart was in his racing that season as a result1 point

Nobody can confirm it's true although you wouldn't be surprised if it was. As has been stated Wolves don't want a six team league for a start, a lack of variety in opposition for the rest will hit them hard eventually.1 point

Pretty much every European rider calls it England. I remember Stefan edberg getting roundly boo'd in a post match interview for saying he was glad to be back in England after he'd signed for us ha1 point

So if there were more 'domestic' riders then this would save speedway? Isn't the fact that no-one comes anymore and/or most stadiums are under threat of closure the most pressing problem???????????1 point

Poole's prices haven't increased for 4 seasons. Its just crazy to increase admission prices just to overpay riders. - ask Eastbourne!!1 point

Its a matter of fact that if any 'top' riders are attracted back then admission prices will increase - FACT!1 point

I dont think the Premiership is 'far better', I never said I did. What I did say is that apart from the number of teams ie the lack of variety in the 'top' league there is very little difference because the riders are essentially the same, and both leagues have good tracks and crap ones. Both leagues are overpriced, that's why I very rarely go any more. I expect the Premiership is a bit more expensive as the riders get paid a bit more. Its been suggested on another thread that the Prem will remain at six clubs because they don't want to share the TV money with anyone else and that's very disappointing.1 point

Those of us who support teams in the second tier have known for ages that it’s the superior league. Adding Oxford will only strengthen that and I am very much looking forward to seeing them at Armadale and also hopefully paying a visit when Edinburgh race there.1 point

When it came to the crunch in the semis against us Pirates it was the Lions lower end that just cudn't mix it. Mountain or Hume alongside one of the twins would've been the way to go. My mates are Lions fans and they were very surprised, and so was I, when Mountain was released and he performed very well despite the teams he rode for ending up at the bottom of their respective leagues.1 point

Look forward to hearing the 'rules' for next year, points limit, rising stars, etc. Until then it's all just a bit of fun and people creating rumours and winding up other fans. Hope we stay in the championship or the promoters create one league of a championship standard.1 point

Hope that everything goes well Brian. We don't want to lose any more Tracks.1 point

How can you reconcile those two statements? How can you claim to know more about the Rye House campaign than those running it? Our 'optimism' is based on simple fact, not blind faith. There HAVE been new, important discussions and a new attitude towards possibly incorporating speedway in the redevelopment. These are facts. Now I clearly stated that a door had been opened, not that we already have success. You sit on the sidelines offering your pitifully ill-informed comments. All it does is steadily destroy your credibility, not ours. Yes we could fail but certainly if we took your approach we would, It would be appreciated if people like you could keep their damaging opinions to themselves rather than try to pass yourself off as some all-knowing authority. It's hard enough dealing with the authorities and new landlord without having tom deal with those supposed speedway supporters undermining it. It would be easy to suspect that you actually want it to fail.1 point
