Agree, there is a general entertainment point of view. It’s the structure of the sport, which IMO is struggling to attract new fans. It’s just not credible, and it’s mainly diehards which are keeping it afloat.3 points

Great to see Doyle remain loyal to Britsh Speedway. He's more of a Brit than Bewley, Lambert and Woffinden.3 points

I had a great day at the WSRA annual Norwich lunch today. Met up with some old friends, including Ove Fundin, Bert Harkins, Trevor Hedge, Tony Hurren (Hawkeye) and Terry Ripo (former Hackney and Mildenhall announcer). Other illustrious names at the lunch included Cyril Crane, Richard Greer, James Easter, Billy Bales, Ray Bales, Rob Hollingworth, Dingle Brown, Gavin Hedge, Dave Gagen, Graham Miles, Ollie Allen, Dave Allen and the great, the one and only, Buzz Burrows. Good food, good company and, best of all, I won first prize in the raffle!2 points

I actually think from a general 'entertainment' point of view with the level of riders being so similar it is actually worth watching.. I watched lots of domestic Speedway on TV and three 'live' and there was plenty to keep you interested.. Unfortunately it is clear that these riders cannot make one league pay therefore it all becomes a bit contrived and nonsensical, which obviously then takes more than a fair bit away from the event itself.. If only they could get the racing level within a proper team sport structure.. Unfortunately, until they do the sport will continue to underperform against its undoubted potential..2 points

Sorry I Will rephrase that, the standard is higher but it’s the same riders beating each other. There are certainly no superstar 10 pt average riders even though it is a weakened League.2 points

Lions 2019 Championship Shield Winners Championship League Winners Pirates 2021 Championship KO Cup Winners Championship League Winners I regularly attend both tracks, as well others, with Leicester being my nearest and I support Poole. The amount of success that both club's av achieved with both doing the double, either side of lockdown, is a remarkable achievement. In fact Lions cud've done the treble if it wasn't for avin to track an under strength side at Eastbourne in the KO Cup. I'd like to wish all at both clubs continued success, but don't mention the Scottish club! .....was a fine ride by Ellis Perks!2 points

At least if you did sign Basso, he won't be visiting Poole as he'll be riding in Denmark.2 points

It’s really not complicated. Scott Courtney runs Berwick Jamie Courtney will run Oxford harris has signed for Berwick and has agreed to ride for Oxford when they were planning to run in the premiership Oxford will be championship so Harris will no longer be in the team as he already signed for Berwick2 points

He was an almost complete let down. A couple of superb meetings (one at Lynn) aside to say he was mediocre would be kind He can be brilliant when all is well but appears clueless as to what changes to make when things are not going so well. Quite baffling for a rider of his experience1 point

Not sure there will be any team announcements in the immediate future, while the stadium rent issue goes down the legal route. May find out something later this week but not sure if I'll be able to share. One thing I do know is that the planned 2022 1-7 has changed already - with the unexpected availability of a rider.1 point

Unfortunately I have a big big feeling he will be at Ipswich,,,, as we do seem to like an Aussie that doesn't live up to expectations.1 point

No they don't unless it is a hospitality thing, I sit in the "posh" seats under the ref box, yes I paid extra for the privilege on top of my season ticket, that is my choice as I struggle to get good viewing unless I am at the front1 point

So Kennett, MPT and Lawson as your heat leaders (announced on Plymouth Facebook page).1 point

Just another example for me of why Polish speedway will be the death of other domestic leagues1 point

I think there will be more than six clubs in the top flight next season and I'll await the rabbits out of hats they produce each AGM.......1 point

If were to go down that route would be looking at something like Musielak Cook Brennan Nicol Basso Bailey Edwards Just over 41 I think not taking into account 2.5% reductions. (Guessing at Connors average at 3.8)1 point

It could all be nothing, but Tobiasz Musielak has replied to a comment about Glasgow potentially hosting the 2022 GP Challenge with the following: "A baza w Anglii będzie …. :))" Roughly translated: "and my base in England will be..."1 point

Or Batch before Kent, his was a later signing than Hans I think! So up to 6 at start of the season.1 point

I know that but I’m just summarising about the “interest” in reading the Oxford thread!1 point

The speedway shut in the early/mid 60s and the greyhounds shut down in 1969 after problems over the lease with British Rail, who owned the site. There were plans to use the site as part of a redevelopment of the Millwall FC Stadium next door, but they came to nothing, and the derelict New Cross was just demolished.1 point

I often look through maps online to try and work out where old stadiums were. Never found this site before, so very interesting for me. Bristol: Explore georeferenced maps - Map images - National Library of Scotland (nls.uk) New Cross: Explore georeferenced maps - Map images - National Library of Scotland (nls.uk) Reading: Explore georeferenced maps - Map images - National Library of Scotland (nls.uk)1 point

Guess that be first thing to be sorted by the new management committee then before any open meetings can take place? Fingers crossed something takes place in 20221 point

Only TWO of the top scoring riders in the Premier League don’t ride in the Championship……Jack Holder and Dan Bewley….So what makes it Premier?……..1 point

Think stewart will pull a few surprises. That team is decent but not strong enough for a title challenge but that's just my opinion.1 point

Leicester is my local track so looking forward to Pirates and Lions doing battle again in 2022 no matter who rides for who. But thank you and other clubs for over looking Danyon Hume in 2021 as he proved to be a key rider for us in our double winning season Here's to 20221 point
