Until a major league sponsor invests enough money to take the sport forward, and insists that their investment is professionally run. It will continue to lurch from year to year. The failure to attract a major sponsor is the biggest failing of the powers that be and should be recognised as such5 points

You won't get a major sponsor with such a Mickey Mouse operating model... Unless it's Disney.... Imagine Tesco sponsoring the Aces and they fail to qualify for the play offs by a point because Dan Bewley had the previous meeting scored a maximum for the Wolverhampton 'Sainsbury' Wolves in a victory for them. .? You simply won't get companies putting "big money" in when that can happen... There's a reason Poland runs its Speedway properly and that is they know if they don't then they too will struggle to attract crowds, media coverage and sponsors. . Several teams will contest the play offs next year, four will reach the two finals, two teams will win, and two teams will lose... And hardly anyone out of 67 million people in the UK will even notice, never mind care.... Yet they will, once again, persist with an operating model which clearly doesn't (and can never) work, if you ever want to move the sport forward... What we have is really all there is, and ever will be I would suggest, given the clear reluctance to implement the radical changes that the sport desperately needs if it is ever to be considered again as relevant and credible, within the UK's overall sporting hierarchy...4 points

I think it should also be borne in mind that Craven was around at the same time as Fundin and Briggs - and Ronnie Moore come to that, but still managed to win the World Title twice. Hancock, on the other hand, didn't seem to fare so well when up against Rickardsson, Crump and Pedersen, who dominated the early 2000s. I would venture to say that all three of them were better than Hancock.3 points

Brilliant effort from Glasgow with the announcement, additional exposure and donations for the charities is great. Good signing also.3 points

Biggest error the management made was replacing Stewart Dickson with cami Brown. does cami have any input on team line ups ? But Glasgow do seem to sign older riders with supposedly bargain averages who fail to improve as age catches up with them.3 points

And to think we have chosen George and another 6 pointer, when we could have had Archie and an 8 pointer. Oh well.3 points

If only we sign Buczkowski instead of Ostergaard we could get Crump at reserve. Has an identical look about the 1-7 from the title winning side this year imo. 1. Michael Palm Toft 2. Krzysztof Buczkowski 3. Chris Harris 4. Scott Nicholls 5. Hans Andersen 6. Jason Crump 7. Jordan Palin3 points

Have to agree with you. I'm pleased you mentioned Crump, as he certainly warrants consideration...2 points

Not quite. Scaled it based on Leicester cycle speedway. DH won world championships on 3 different tracks. Worth noting the Lions circuit has been significantly altered since then hence the much improved racing now seen at Beaumont Park2 points

What’s the arguments against then? Since they’ve taken control they’ve won a pairs event and a KO Cup by my reckoning? No doubt they’ve achieved great things as a club getting bit meetings to Ashfield and creating a great supporter experience but the results on the track have been disappointing.2 points

Sorry I don't buy false average chat. That is the average he achieved with Plymouth over the season. The "false average" was the 12 pointer he had at start of season. Could he improve with an injury free season? Possibly a little, but not to a 102 points

Spot on. Would imagine we'd get lots of positive PR and I'm sure the younger riders would benefit AND if he was signed as a second string could probably do a decent job.2 points

I'd agree. Certainly a better business brain than messers Chapman and Godfrey. Came into Belle Vue at a very precarious time and has stabilised it, and made the club look more professional. He claimed to know nothing about the sport when he first came in, but he's respected the history and traditions of Belle Vue. Even staged meetings behind closed doors in 2020 to keep the unbroken record going. He hasn't changed the club colours and rebranded it The Manchester Machine. Sponsorship has grown steadily and they seem to run to a sustainable budget, despite running 2 teams. There hasn't been any question of running or not running the following year. I also like that he walks round the stadium during meetings talking with and listening to fans.2 points

So we just roll over and die, it's time Speedway stood up for it's self, when people buy homes nears our stadiums. The law is there for everyone not just those with money and just now discrimination is high on the list.2 points

And that's just the latest in a long line of things you've assumed and got completely wrong. You don't seem to have a good word for anyone. To you everyone is a clueless clown.... I'm afraid that's called projection.1 point

He was a nodding dog. He nodded then did his own thing. Got found out and then walked out.1 point

You are an Edinburgh fan; your expectation of how Glasgow have performed or not is of no interest or value to any Tigers fans and for that matter most speedway fans.1 point

Lol well it's a machine that sprays roadline marker paint... all I have to do is walk behind it and push it... doh... There may be trouble ahead... Regards THJ1 point

There will always be question marks... I just have a problem with people who refuse to accept how good someone was BECAUSE they retired early...1 point
-
Agree in principle though Hancock had a 20+years WC career, while Craven’s career was tragically cut short. So... can we really say with certainty Hancock was a greater rider than Craven?. Penhall retired far too early so can we categorically say Hancock was a greater rider than Penhall?.1 point

Who won the premiership to become the best team in the country for 2021 using your rejected method of team building1 point

Ha. I'm only half joking! Be a bit rude of Glasgow to announce riders in his attendance if he isn't one of them imo. And as long as he is in attendance when there are announcements, there is a small possibility he is one of them1 point

Crump would be a poor signing the model should be young hungry riders on the way up with one older head with Cookie.1 point

Eveey person i have ever known thats run a tipping line has been vermin, even i was sucked in tho, i thought , like md that he was the bloke to take the club forward, a confidence trickster would be a fair summary of what he has done .1 point

In my opinion they have a decent team but a lot depends on mid season changes, most teams don't finish with the team they start with, don't think we would have won without Ben Basso.1 point

Definitely prefer MPT than Killer. If its not MPT, then there must be better options that Killer on a 7pt average, can only see him going one way these days, and even when he was a decent rider, his riding style, although appearing exciting, meant he spent far too many times on his backside1 point

Not up to date is wrong as there SHOULD be a different final set of figures Shoddy and amateur1 point

So the SGB site is wrong down to shoddy updating or ineptitude Yet again something very simple is a complete mess and what should be clear and transparent is opaque and shrouded in confusion1 point

Buster Chapman is not on the Management Board. He’s not had any say since he stood down two years ago. Having been a member of the BSPA, it’s my view that having a sports’ professional with no affiliation to any club as CEO would be far better than the current situation which tends to rely on well intentioned - and hard working - amateurs. Running a sport needs different skills to running a team, and needs to be a full time job1 point

Honestly This new venture is sparking some interest as it even made the Look North segment on the morning news today They showed a segment of the H18tory treble winning meeting celebrations at Derwent Park Regards THJ1 point

I think you misunderstand the role of the SCB. It is certainly not independent as it comprises two representatives from ACU and two from BSPA plus a non-voting chairman, nor has it any responsibility for promoting the sport. It is purely an administrative, operational and disciplinary body1 point
-
Today: fans complain promoters are too driven by self interest 1964: the single promoter most driven by self-interest: Mike Parker The last thing we need is a Mike Parker type of administrator (and some would say we already have one in Rob Godfrey) Parker had some exceptional qualities, but not ones that would have made him a suitable director of the sport as a whole1 point

I may have remembered this wrong, but I think it was closer to 50k per track per year. Terence got his cut of course, and I think I heard that aside from the fixed amount paid to each promotion, additional payments were made to teams when they were shown live to compensate for lower crowds.1 point
