Very pleased to see Plymouth have a team that can challenge for the play offs. There are only two teams in the south of England Plymouth and Poole. Why some people seem to dislike Plymouth I do not understand. My name on this forum has always been Sherbornegreen. That is based on where I live and the football team I have always supported. (Plymouth Argyle). My first knowledge of speedway was at Pennycross in 1962. All my family started to go to Weymouth in the early 1980s and season ticket holder at Poole from 1983 till 2001. Still a Poole supporter going when I can but also very fond of Plymouth and go when I can. Poole will always have a very strong team and Plymouth have a team that is improving year on year. Support in Plymouth is increasing, thank goodness. We do not want to lose this great sport in the south so good luck to both teams. Don’t forget we’re have already lost Trelawney, Exeter, Weymouth and Somerset from this area. Also nearby Newport and Swindon. Let’s keep what we have got at least.

In all seriousness Buczkowski to Panthers instead of Ostergaard and a 5 pointer at reserve makes real sense.

To be fair the dislike as you say is only coming from a certain few , personally I like the look of Plymouth will win most home meetings which is your bread and butter. Tidy side they have assembled.

Skidder keeps liking posts regarding Douglas/Poole and he's got a few ITK's so I would put my money on Poole going with King, Lawson & Douglas as the three HL's.

https://youtu.be/wB-RHM2ZJmw Congreve looks a great prospect. The opposition wasn't up to much in this meeting with Terry-Daley being a recognisable name. He was on the pace with BWD though, in one race Congreve passed a couple then kept up with BWD. That said, the track in NZ was totally different to wot he will face at Brough Park. Hope George adapts well & helps Newcastle build on their future.

He will do well to ride to his average,riders in the video wouldn’t even get a NL spot over here.IMO

No white lines today unfortunately... job was abandoned... rain and snow stopped play... however I popped down today before going to another call out in Durham and in the hour and a bit I was there the lads had put down 180 ton of shale... in fact the shale was going on the track that fast Steve Lawson was struggling to keep up grading it in... however knowing Steve as I do and him being a bit of a perfectionist that surface will be spot on come next March... all 1200 ton or so of it... I agree, but what is more I would say he was the ultimate tactician, with an amazing ability to out think an opponent. My outstanding memories of him, on the rare occasions the missed the gate , was that he would sit just outside someone’s tail until the last two bends then as the opponent drifted wide to cover his run in, Hurri- Ken would suddenly switch lines and come through on the inside. I thought he was brilliant, but I was young and impressionable and didn’t see much of the other top stars on a regular basis. From What little I’ve seen of Ronnie Moore, and considering he was past his best by the time I saw him I think would have to have him in my top five or six. Its also been mentioned that the so called top 5 had to contend with each other but while we are speculating I think If Tony Rickardson had never been born we would be talking of Jason Crump in the top five. He really was ,to my mind , one of the true greats, more so than Greg Hancock.

As a Hammers supporter I have to agree with Ken McKinlay being the ultimate team rider. His partnership with Simmons produced many valuable 5-1’s for the team.

Im sure Mr Godfrey and Mr Chapman are very hard working chaps and have their best interests at heart but the road Speedway is going it is not sustainable in its present form.

I think it should also be borne in mind that Craven was around at the same time as Fundin and Briggs - and Ronnie Moore come to that, but still managed to win the World Title twice. Hancock, on the other hand, didn't seem to fare so well when up against Rickardsson, Crump and Pedersen, who dominated the early 2000s. I would venture to say that all three of them were better than Hancock.

Brilliant effort from Glasgow with the announcement, additional exposure and donations for the charities is great. Good signing also.

Palin leaving Peterborough for Belle Vue would sum up what's wrong with speedway. You would never see athletes in other sports leaving the champions to go and ride for 2nd best.

Agree with the last bit in brackets. Spending lots of money on all new stuff every year is completely unnecessary. A new van every year is also unnecessary. There are so many costs to clubs and riders that can be cut. A 10mm bolt will last for years but many will have all new every year because they're shinier - totally unnecessary. Four helmets a meeting in each colour, totally unnecessary - did anyone see how many Emil S had accumulated?

Gating tart and we would have to change the track to suit him like last time,to the detriment of the rest of the team who did not want a slick bare track.

I really hope Birmingham can come to tapes in 2022, the start up costs are large and that rent sounds pretty big too.. If they do manage it and we all hope they do, get out and support your club!

In a sport where team events are seen as the primary "form of the sport", it always amuses me when we talk about the greatest that we focus only on individual achievement; numbers of world championships and so on. I would go further. Many of the names mentioned here were involved with successfully teams. However, I would ask the question, "were they great team players?". Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed watching some great riders achieve outstanding individual success. But as I look back over the decades, my fondest memories are of those riders that have lead my team to success. I've watched those that score a 15 point maximum and ask what more they could have done when the team are defeated. That didn't thrill me much. And so, in that context I would nominate Ole Olsen, not as number 6, but as number 1.

Should just bury the hatchet with Cook and get him in.... Fricke, Wright, Cook, Batchelor, Kurtz, Palin, Brennan... Excellent top five and two of the best young Brits to cheer on....

Maybe not ALL Australians, is it not just the Newcastle ones

Which other 8 pointer could we even attract though? Realistically... Plus, now we have 2 very strong reserves, whereas, no offence, it's a couple years too early for Archie... I know he's the local hero, but if we keep signing weak riders, we're never going to win anything... And the fans will never return, it's a business at the end of the day I'm sure if George is not pulling his weight by the mid point of the season, Rob isn't going to take any prisoners... Just got to hope if it does come to that, that BWD doesn't walk too...

He has always rode Brough well, and agree he is a top heat leader on a false average. I think a change will do him good (if in fact he does ride UK next season).

Forums are about opinions and everyone has a view as to who has the best team before a wheel has been turned. I am not sure everyone thought Poole would win the league.

And chill.... Some of your fans have said that Plymouth will be unbeatable at home but not do much away. Interesting it is only a problem when a Poole fan says it! You can actually have close racing in a comfortable victory like Poole vs Glasgow in the regular league fixture. As long as the racing is good that is the main thing followed by a home win, no one wants to lose home meetings as that will affect future crowds at most places.

I just don't get it John. What is your motive? On the Memories of Rye House Facebook page you make an ambiguous but provocative post, which then sets off a negative chain of events. After that causes an argument you delete all your posts so no one can see the trail, and then you make apologies. You then set up an alternative Facebook group which you call Rye House Speedway- the Fabulous Rockets. Yet on this Forum thread you admit that you haven't been since 1963 and you left because you were bored, and that having posted a link to a picture of a Rye House legend you don't know and don't really care who he is! However, that also means that this Forum thread has been diverted away from the positive news that there is actually a chance Rye House could return. I try not to post negative things in relation to your posts, but boy, you do make it difficult to come to any conclusion other than that you are trying to damage the possible Rye House return.

IMO all riders should be on the same money per point, including bonus points and none on a guarantee.
