Take it you know nothing about tracks? Like I've said just for the first few weeks it will need to be slick and packed hard, then after that you can start making more grip. Not one for slick tracks , but I've seen some great races on a slick track just look at bell vue.5 points

In very simple terms, the winner of the F1 World Championship is the world's best driver. The winner of the men's 100m is the world's fastest man. The World Heavyweight Champion is the toughest man in the world. Those things will always cut through because they are meaningful to most people on the planet. Being the best to slide a bike round an oval dirt circuit on machines no-one has heard of, is meaningless to the vast majority of the planet. Excitement is a matter of opinion, I have always found speedway a whole lot more interesting than F1 and always will. It's preaching to the choir on a speedway forum of course. We are obviously in the minority globally and that won't change. Speedway just has to present itself a lot better in the key markets who are interested. Of course the marketing and packaging leaves a lot to be desired. But - in my opinion - BSI are the least guilty party in this area. Most of the SGPs are at least comparable with most other "global" sport series in terms of spectacle. Anything served up by the BSPA is a notable step down from any major domestic events from other sports.5 points

Theres no wonder fans of other sides want Poole to fail as there fans have an arrogance about them4 points

Easy to get confused though when the Poole and Glasgow threads have merged into the same topic! I keep having to check which thread I'm in lol.4 points

If Anders Rowe was to be the final rider for the Lions I would consider this to be a good signing for the available average. Not many would know this but both in 2020 and 2021 Anders was a regular at Leicester winter training sessions sometimes riding in awful wet conditions all to improve his skills and I am sure Anders will be will back practicing at Leicester this winter no matter where he rides in 2022. He always has immaculate equipment and takes his racing very seriously with long term injuries hampering his progress in 2021 along with long drives up to Redcar & Edinburgh for home meetings probably not helping as well when not 100% fit. Another thing to take into consideration is Anders relationship with Nick Morris only a few seasons ago Ander’s and his dad Del were full time mechanics for Nick and Mozza gave Anders a lot of advice when he was starting out riding Speedway so if Anders was to come to Leicester I am confident that Nick would be able to get the best out of him.4 points

You're asking far too much for something so simple to be made transparent and public by the BSPL...3 points

To be honest the track will not be grippy for the first few weeks, because of the amount of work that has to be done to get it right. It will need to be run on the slick side to start with. But with the right amount of work every week it can get back to how it was when JL was No1.3 points

Who would benefit from Speedway becoming a global money making machine like F1? A very small number of riders, maybe 10 who competed at the highest level without paying for their ride. Grass roots motorsport gets no benefits from F1 so a super high profile Speedway GP series would have no benefits for the sport in the UK apart from 1 meeting a year attended for free by a lot of people with no interest and thousands of others for who it would be the only meeting of the year, just like F1. No thanks!3 points

Think there will be a few on here moaning about the first two signings, but the club have got to get it right in the way the club can afford, and run not just next season & future season ahead.3 points

A billion pound Global sport run for years by the likes of Ecclestone and funded by Global sponsors and massive Global brands. At least give Speedway a fair competitor to match it's prowess against??... Something like Rugby League may be a fair comparison.3 points

Hi THJ I've been away for a couple of weeks and was dismayed and angered to read about the vandalism and burglary that has gone on in that time. Your above post though has helped lift the gloom a bit. Andrew and the team must have been demoralised yet again by the low lives who carry out these actions. It's fair to say that the travellers see this area as a soft touch, this is in no small part nurtured by the Police not making use of the powers they have under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. The Police do have powers to move a site immediately without recourse to the courts while Allerdale Council does not. Cumbria Constabulary is able to move more quickly and take far more robust action. The claim that Police have no authority to move travellers due to the absence of a dedicated place for them to go in Allerdale is also false. Apparently the fact remains there is no requirement to find the travellers somewhere to go before moving them on. If the Police made use of the powers available to them immediately in response to criminal damage and antisocial behaviour then this would surely act as a powerful deterrent and they would soon get the message. They have been allowed to get away with behaviour that other members of the local community wouldn't get away with for far to long. With the number of Police Officers in Cumbria reported to be at a record high it is good to here about them taking the above action. I hope it's the start of things to come going forward. I did think the travellers would find there way back onto Northside sooner or later especially since the intended CCTV security cameras were not installed at the same time as the security gates. Hope your keeping alright fella.3 points

How is our great sport a million miles from F1. I watched today's classic race and it is so much more exciting than speedway. The BSI have failed speedway.2 points

If that is remaining 3 riders then between them really just need to maintain their averages with potential in rest of the team. A fully motivated and focused Craig Cook can put a point on his average2 points

I doubt there was a single club lining up to sign Shanes other than Birmingham - certainly not a few!2 points

Difference is there is credibility in either Max or Lewis being World champion, more so than Team GB winning the SON, or a team finishing in the bottom half of the league becoming champions, that is the difference between F1 and Speedway. Speedway is - lets have a long drawn out competition and then just toss a coin and render all before it meaningless.2 points

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we can't be playing team building games without @Dandelion - I hope she hasn't left us, iirc a few people played a little rough last season and she may have taken the hump...2 points

Slick track A slick track did for Birmingham back in March 2007 on the night of the rebirth. 6000+ in attendance expecting the “BRUMMIES ARE BACK” as it was promoted. However they ended up seeing a bunch of individuals (most new fans in the crowd had never heard of) play follow the leader. No Birmingham Brummies team to support, instead of leaving the stadium thrilled with seeing the home team winning many left thinking I have no idea what just happened, did Birmingham win?. I called it at the time and stand by it today, the choice to open with an individual meeting on the back of all the publicity and hype about the return of the Birmingham Brummies Team was shocking and totally destroyed any chance to gain new fans. The following week against Stoke was much better a comfortable team win in a Midlands derby, how pleased would the 6000+ fans have been to see that. Sadly the 6000 had become 2000 and the chance had been blown.2 points

Actually 6.03. Adding three points would put him above the current CMA of Craig Cook, Bomber or Charles Wright -- and Scott Nicholls is 9.07. Tom Brennan is a fine prospect, but pushing his average up by three is a step too far in 2022. IMO.2 points

Not at all. The Danish season is quite short comparatively - hence how Poole were able to sign Basso up mid-season.2 points

While Morris, Shanes & Newman may not have a lot of improvement in them, they can certainly put something on their averages. I'd certainly say they are more valuable to any team than the likes of Tobias Thomsen or Nick Agertoft were when signed in 2019!2 points

Because it is run by amateurs who have continually failed to market the product. Those in charge would have trouble making a corner shop successful let alone an entertainment product that could be so good if they had imagination and the foresight to promote it for what it is, four riders racing hell for leather for four laps on machines with no brakes and that in itself requires a specific set of skill sets. No instead let’s piss about with rules that no one understands, teams that are not unique with double up/down and a series of league meetings which mean dick all as you have a system of play offs that mean you need only ride to a certain standard, get guests and win the championship with a group of riders who have been brought together to boost the ego of the club owner. The sport is a joke and until it is managed professionally with clubs towing an external party line, it will never attract serious sponsorship or attract main stream publicity be it press, radio or television. It has a group of hard core ageing fans watching the decline in this country of sport that in its current form is part of a bygone era.2 points

0.16 doesn't stop Scunny signing Jorgensen, just stops him signing with the other 6. Replace Kinsley with a 2.00 man or Kennedy with MacDonald & Jorgensen fits - simple! There will always be potential teams just over the points limit, but if you allow a team to be 0.16 over, another will want to declare 0.25 over & so on!2 points

Just bought my season ticket and might miss two matches but I do not mind as long as it helps the club out.1 point

On his day Sedgmen can really race and he'd have an 8 point average if his head was screwed on properly but sadly it isn't. In his last meeting for the Tigers he was on for a five race maximum but got excluded in heat 15. He looked really focused that day but the following days saw him kicked from the team and replaced by Brennan. Worth a shot on his average I think.1 point

Not interested in formula one racing. I watched formula two at Crystal Palace when i was a kid, but it never grew on me. I always preferred speedway.1 point

What happens when another team is just 0.16 above scunnys 0.16 and so forth. There has to be a cut off point somewhere!1 point

There is no way Musielak will do a Batchelor. He’s a better calibre of rider on the whole for starters and a hugely consistent performer nowadays. Musielak will end up as one of the highest averages riders in the league I am pretty confident.1 point

Think you will discover the Poole promotion are by the proverbial mile the best and most successful in the sport. I believe the Poole promotion spent many, many hours costing a small fortune managing to bring him to the U.K., against the wishes of the UKIP govt we currently have in power. They managed to get the lad a 2 year visa, which I have heard cost the club financially. End of the day the lads head has been turned by the big bucks offered by Glasgow. A shame. Glasgow trying to buy the league. Only chance they really have. But we all know what happens to clubs who spend a fortune on riders. Seems at the moment it’s sod what it costs, I want a title.1 point

Well Well Well… oh ye of little faith eh... I didn't think it could be done but here you go... News hot off the press so to speak... The travellers have been evicted (again)... the gates have been repaired and locked (again)... there are now CCTV cameras in operation (good)... and three of our little friends have been arrested and locked up and another two are on the run (Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas)... so there you go three nil to the police and two off the crossbar... nice when a plan comes together and the boys in blue get a result... Carlsberg don't do News Flashes but if they did... (and its official I will be smiling all day) Regards THJ1 point

Based on working at a couple of Team GB // British Youth training days at Leicester earlier in the season only Brennan & Flint were quicker than Rowe around Beaument Park. Also isnt his Champ avg actually lower than his Prem avg? If you ask me, if it is Rowe as the final rider, it could be a masterstroke.1 point
