I visited REDCAR for the first time on their opener. Not often would I wax lyrical about a promotion, its stadium and the way they do their business, but this was an eye opener and an example of how to PROMOTE. Redcar offer a great product, a neat, clean, stadium and racing surface. All officials smartly attired in quality uniforms. A stadium with great viewing, well signposted and extremely supporter friendly. They plainly give Sponsors great value for money and run their show to a high standard. Well done to the promotion, the fans and an excellently balanced team Thank you for making me most welcome, and I hope to return again James Easter9 points

On the subject of the Stream… Can I pay a huge tribute to Andy Hague and his brother Paul of Speedway Portal. I can’t begin to tell you of the hours and hours of dedication and commitment from these guys. They have put so much planning, preparation and thought into the project setting the highest goals for quality. They have overcome countless technical obstacles and spent, literally, days on the infrastructure and studio set up. The result is a product that is highly professional and should shine amongst it’s rivals. WELL DONE GUYS. you have an equally committed team alongside you, going forward, and you should ALL be proud heading into Pirates TV’s inaugural season. Wishing you every success, much deserved!4 points

There is one thing having a personal gripe but to take it onto a speedway track is disgusting. Speedway bikes are dangerous enough without any other motive and I have neither side to take in this but I hope it’s dealt with appropriately.3 points

Plenty of footballers having signed for new clubs are injured during pre-season and miss the first (few) fixtures. In the case of Adam, he was signed with the full knowledge that he would be unavailable for the Lions leg, but this is hardly a reason not to have signed him at all is it?3 points

Peterborough signed Summers on a short term contract whilst we looked for a heat leader. One was never found, Summers stayed all season & it was a disaster.3 points

I wonder how many more matches Ellis will be missing for Brummies?2 points

Plus football is a squad game speedway isn't so any comparison with football is irrelevant2 points

Still no need to possibly injure Adam . Might be old fashioned but keep your off-track problems off the track.2 points

My first meeting was in 1972 as an 8 year old.We had no car back then and used to walk the 8 mile round trip and get a bag of chips on the way home.2 points

Brooklyn Nets NBA team paid Kevin Durant $30 million knowing he was going to miss a whole season. Cleveland Browns NFL team have signed DeShawn Watson knowing he will be facing a big suspension this year. It happens.2 points

This is a consequence of Brum building their side a long while after fixtures were compiled but it's a kick on the nuts for the most important people, the paying public.2 points

I have no idea why no drawn matches isn't good for "TV"? What's wrong with a draw?2 points

No wonder speedway is a mess. Here's our great signing you've been waiting all winter for and by the way he won't be riding in our opening meeting2 points

The late eighties and early to mid nineties were my golden era at Lynn as I'm a little too young to remember the seventies and early eighties. Henka, Loramski, Brhel, Richard Knight, Bobby Ott, Lofqvist, Emerson Fairweather etc. Always seemed to be last heat deciders and the racing was awesome with proper shale. And on Satuday nights!2 points

There was a feature last night on ITV's local news programme about the start of the new season at Sheffield. It's sad that any feature on speedway now all seem to start from the the default position that no-one watching has ever heard of the sport - you know the drill - cue rock music with quick fire editing of riders flying around the track and then the wholly predictable 'these bikes have no brakes and can accelerate faster than.......' well, you know the rest.1 point

Not all that absurd, plenty of cases in football where a new player signs plays a.match or two and then goes missing for something like a month for the Africa Cup of Nations. However, the teams can normally call on an adequate replacement, unlike being unnecessarily penalised as in speedway. Liverpool don't have to call up a player from their under 16 squad. Everyone lost tonight, but the sport of speedway was the biggest loser.1 point

Even if Ellis had only scored 10, at least the tie would still be alive. So not only have the Leicester fans been mugged off tonight, the Brummie fans will be expected to turn up to watch a dead rubber at the 2nd leg and they wonder why nobody goes to Birmingham... No winners1 point
-
When he sees tonight’s score he’ll be wondering what the hell he’s signed up to. Brum were quite simply woeful and only Ash Morris seemed to be up for it. I know the track gets criticised for it being gate and go with riders strung out after a couple of laps, but you have to look at the quality and attitude of riders. Poor entertainment tonight and I’m putting that down to Brum. How much better is Ellis going to make them?1 point

Honestly Turned up to a Workington and Cockermouth Hound Trailing do in a spot called Twiname Club in Brigham? World's End? Anyway hadn't been in the spot ten minutes and three different folk have asked me when is the Speedway starting back up... and that they can't wait to see the sport back in town... Couldn't make it up... only in Cumbria... Regards THJ1 point

I think chrome is meant for other android devices, apparently it can be installed but not in a standard way. I've looked at Puffin TV browser but i think there maybe a limit on free usage to 1 hour a day. It'd be good if somebody could recommend something1 point

Keep the points system simple. Winners get 3 points, drawn meetings teams get 1 point each, nothing for a losing team.1 point

Think belle vue will be alright they have Brennan and I believe Blodorn is good enough to get a 6+ average as well as Allen Kurtz is injury free this season so should kick on, Fricke will be among the highest average in the league On paper it's not the strongest side but racing isn't done on paper It's like people asking why the witches built below the limit, they got the riders they wanted who they think can improve considerably1 point

TV should not be allowed to dictate the outcome/final result of a meeting they should only be streaming it they should not be allowed to change the rule book. Speedway is in a bad enough state at the moment without interference from outside bodies who just happen to be able to show money talks. No wonder speedway fans are walking away from rather than to meetings.1 point

After last night's performance, I'm guessing Plymouth could beat Newcastle without a 7th rider!1 point

It's rediculous that different teams use different rules - only in Speedway eh! Rules should be made simpler not more difficult to understand for sure!1 point

Only surprise was that the Redcar heatleaders dropped 4 points (3 due to an engine fail). I'm sure Wilson Dean, Complin and Congreve will get better and Starke might have got more than the R/R five but it's a team which is never going to take points from a team with three strong heat leaders. Home or Away. So if your opposition is guaranteed nigh on 41 points from three riders plus another guaranteed 3 from heat 2, 8 and 12 or 14. The other four riders only need to add another 2 between them to win. This is what happens when the teams aren't evenly matched. Hopefully the on track action was better than the scoreline suggests.1 point

Well I suppose it won't be long before we find out if that confidence is misplaced or not. I personally would have put Morris at 5, although he increased his average last year, I somehow felt it was a disappointing season. Time for him to step up and take responsibility and become a genuine heat leader again (if he has it in him). Becker at no 2 not being used to our best advantage I feel.1 point

It's a shame Newcastle couldn't see fit to host Robbo's meeting with him being a Diamonds legend. He only had 1 stunted season at Redcar (and a short spell at Middlesbrough) but he has been a great servant to the sport and deserves his farewell meeting regardless.1 point

Hard to read too much into that really. No idea what BWD was doing wiping out Roynon after heat 1. Very poor. Clegg rode well for the Diamonds and was the main threat alongside Wright. Complin showed enough that he will do OK I think. Kerr was never going to be beaten if not for bike issues, and all three heat leaders looked good. Roynon did well, and impressed with the reserves - Edwards deserved more for his efforts. Cant really read too much into this I don't think - but should be a good battle for the Bears number 1 spot this year.1 point
