I fly with him normally a few times a month but wasn’t there when it happened. Still can’t believe it. Yes he did what he enjoyed but his poor family. Young daughter, son working in Falklands is just flying back. Hard to contemplate as like me he was safe. Ah great guy full of fun with a wicked sense of humour. Enjoy your time on earth folks. You don’t know when it could end.5 points

Knowing what I do now Steve you are probably correct... it's a massive undertaking to set up a new venue and it needs a person or persons to dedicate hours of time to the undertaking... Things would have had to rumble on at Brough which isn't ideal and the commitment needed to move to a new track in either time or money is unbelievable... if you commit full time to the project you can save cash but will struggle to run a business or hold down a job... or you can go the other way and throw cash at it which will save you the time element but you are paying for the service provision... It's one hell of a juggling act to get the balance right... so one or more of three types of people required... someone who has a business making money and they can park that and have someone else run it to put 80 hours a week into building a new track and running a Speedway venture for little or no return... someone with mega bucks who is a fan of the sport who is prepared to put something like 500k in up front and happy to lose around 100k a year thereafter... or something like the Worky effort with one man's vision spending some cash putting in all the spare hours and relying on some good will and support from a network of friends... Because the returns from the sport are limited unless things change it's going to be a big ask and risk to get someone to come in for the club now... IMHO... Regards THJ5 points

I knew there were a few, but didn't think there were that many "door pulls" in our midst!3 points

It’s surprising where the crowds do come back from though. Middlesbrough/Redcar had 10 years missing and the crowds came back, went again, came back again etc. Fans will still be there if the product is right. Oxford another one, 15 years? And seem to be doing ok. Workington will probably be the next northern barometer to go by.3 points

Probably waiting to hear confirmation of our Guests and their own. Most Clubs do a preview the day before and some on the day especially when Guests are involved and most of the riders report in safe and sound from the PL matches the night before. Speedway GB only preview on the day. They seem to be generating a lot of excitement down there and so they must be doing plenty right. Poole seem to be a bit jittery of their small neighbours all of a sudden3 points

Are you related to Nadine Dorres....certainly Comedy value So you are suggesting Athletes who have arrived in to a very secure environment with an itiery based around their Sporting Events should leave the Secure village en masse and go to a Speedwat Match?. Would you expect them to pay or to get a free Pass. I'm sure that they would be flocking back to Birmingham or even extending their visits after the Commonwealth Games to stay on and watch some Speedway??.. Where also are the top Class riders going to come from to take part in the Commonwealth Event, a few Aussies?, the usual Home Contingent, maybe BW-D ? Parallel Universe time.....3 points

Watching the speed generated at the NSS tonight and to think in a couple of weeks the Panthers go there its going to be so embarrassing again, especially for Hans ,Nicholls & Ostergaard ,2 points

Realistically Connor is unlikely to get any better than what he is now (in view of his age) and seems to struggle at the next level up. Whilst there may be more to the situation than we know, the way Scunny have treated him after just one month however is awful. He must be thinking is it all really worth it. I hope I’m wrong though and that he battles on continuing to do something I assume he enjoys.2 points

Well the season has gone. NKI wouldn't of made much difference. We are not winning enough races. The Kerrs and TJ's are the McFred of MUFC. Tel will know2 points

I thought that was an excellent meeting in terms of racing, the best tv meeting for a long time.2 points

Heat 4 was over the top riding from Kurtz who could have caused an injury. Bashing riders out is not part of racing.2 points

It was just a bit of ribbing don’t be so touchy. Yes BV the best place to watch speedway in the U.K. just a shame not many Mancs know about it.2 points

Knew someone was gonna say that! lol. School is very close to the track these days (backing on to the 1st and 2nd bend) pretty much. There is an agreement that not allowed on track till a certain time.2 points

Shouldn't be dusty at all or is there a hosepipe ban in Poole, decent track prep should keep the dust to a minimum. Practice session for the superstars, panic has really set in,showing very little faith in the riders imo.2 points

Not so sure about Tai in his present form, very poor in Polish League this season and it’s not happening for him in GP.Very Doubtful that he will be World Champ again.(only my opinion).Personally think Lambert and Bewley have been more consistent than him this season.2 points

They could of course name Coles as number 8 and allow him to take 3 of the RR rides and let the other go to the rider with the average above Dan.2 points

One of the problems with the reduction in no. of matches on which GSAs are based. All things being equal a team whose GSAs are based on 7 home and 3 away is likely to have a higher combined total than one with 3 home and 7 away. Over 20 matches that was far less of an issue.2 points

Think it was more "luvverly" The voice of Cleveland park - a master of his craft RIP Bernard many happy memories2 points

Instead of panicking ( allegedly) he should have closed it last season & accepted the help which was on offer & moved on to a newer venue & reopened in 2023 with much better team etc & all money took from the turnstiles would have been the club's & not a mega payout for the stadium rent2 points

Good point: 5 and counting! - if you need to save money there'll be plenty of opportunity after Sept 15 & beyond.2 points

Last Birmingham team match is scheduled for August the 10th though. As for the Commonwealth Games meeting, simple a Commonwealth Riders Championship featuring a line up of British based Commonwealth riders, heavily promoted in the athletes village the night before the opening ceremony, hardly rocket science2 points

Hans needs releasing for his and the clubs interest. Bring a youngster through for next season. Same for Scott, can't make the play offs so build for next season. Basso won't want to ride for us.1 point

Hans is a Club legend and it's now become sad to see him like this. I really don't want to see him go out like this because the performances and scores simply don't reflect his ability and it's only going to get worse with every passing week now. Hans is far far FAR better than this.1 point

On our current form I can’t see past a ten point Glasgow win. We are not starting meetings well, give the opposition a healthy lead before we actually start to compete. We are not gating and if you are chasing the opposition out of the second bend you are in for a long night. It’s strange to see a lacklustre team but that’s what we currently have. Not going to make the final on the form we are currently exhibiting. And certainly don’t seem to have the passion to actually win it this year. Hope things improve but we would need all 6 riders to click to win, and it hasn’t happened for a while. Be nice to be proved wrong.1 point

Last Friday justifies some of the comments does it not.He rides regularly at Redcar during the off season and practices. He’s certainly struggling at the moment.1 point

Run by Steve - steve@gbspeedway.com who has the "About" page written in the first person singular, so obviously a one-man effort. Well done Steve!1 point

No denying that Berwick were very unlucky last night not to win the meeting after Chris Harris`s clutch gave up the ghost, now to find Danny King suffered a puncture in the same race just compounds the bad luck, still never mind, you`ve got to give Poole credit fighting back from ten down to a draw. One or two iffy refereeing decisions to, I was surprised that Danny King received a warning at the start of Ht15 for moving when I saw no movement, maybe referee was just catching up with things as the same rider got away with a clear jump start in Ht3. All in all Berwick yet again failed to win a home meeting, their season is now dependant on making up the points against Redcar next Saturday.1 point

I am sure Bomber would give it a try.. And... You never know, maybe an air fence panel or three will need fixing, meaning he could possibly get there in time to ride in a few of the last five races or so... Tac Sub, Heats 13 and 15.... Be like Phil Collins on Live Aid Day.... Edit. (Not the Heathens' Phil Collins, the "other" one)...1 point
