  1. As far as I know, a temporary injury replacement has to be a 1-for-1 change. You bring in a temporary replacement with a lower average than the injured rider, and when the injured rider is back fit, he can retake his place. But that's not what Ipswich have done. They've made a redeclaration of the team, combining the averages of two outgoing riders (plus a bit that they were under the points limit) and redeclared with 2 new riders up to the points limit. It's not a 1-for-1 temporary injury replacement,. In fact Tungate's average is quite a bit higher than Riss. As for the "IRR" on the BV website, that's just a cock-up. "IRR only comes into play if a rider is injured during a meeting and withdraws. Whoever wrote that on the website hasn't a clue what they're writing.

  2. And still we wait for him to tell us who the better guests would have been...... " Kent need to be disciplined for putting out such a terrible team"..... Yet still unable to tell us who the better team would have been

  3. Too many guests? Surely, one rider from another side is too many. But when it guests to three or four... That's why speedway now is ruined, as too many riders are now trumped up guests and have more than one side. The doubling up/down rule is surely just a wheeze to operate guests for a lack of advanced planning. Watching speedway with guests is like those Top of the Pops albums in the 70s, sold as the proper thing but in which the songs weren't even covered by the proper artists.

  7. Ben failed a drugs test & will be banned so he is not losing earnings nor can he have any claim to compensation. The B sample taken is merely to dictate what illegal substance was in his system to then decide what form of punishment will be handed to Ben. If its recreational or performance enhancing drugs then his ban will be much longer then if it was an excess or banned painkillers. Some painkillers are banned in sport on safety grounds due to side effects such as drowsiness which is far from safe & endangering the other 3 riders on the track at the time so it’s reckless to sign into a meeting as safe to ride if you have taken such strong painkillers which won’t go in Ben’s favour.

  8. Kent are entitled to build whatever team they want upto the points limit! The problem is, that you were oblivious to when making slandering comments against the club, was that you are only allowed 2 guests and must use unattached riders thereafter. Dan Thompson & Blair are about as good a top 2 as you could find because remember this is real life and not every single rider that ‘on paper’ looks better will want to or would be able to ride. Then they had to pick 2 unattached 3.00 riders and tbf none are going to score many points, if any points at all. So what difference did it make whether they picked Shimelt, Douglas or someone else? The best you would’ve hoped for is only 1 or 2 points anyway!

  9. Ah yes but to be fair to the ref he is not allowed to look/use the replay and was pretty close on the line. Still feel imo like he is making up for the race when Alfie jumped and was near the back and brought it back and then Alfie won. H8 I think it was, but anyway you didn't win so

  10. I think its because we are major cities, its very rare that we get things like Beach Volleyball, world class swimming, world class athletics, its something new for the locals and it carries a lot of memories to look back on, I think Speedway as long become a sport that you will only attend if you know what its about, Speedway will never be a massive spectator sport in the UK ever again

  11. Seriously? Look at how many Lawson got at Oxford last week. If it was taking place at Poole you may have a point!

  12. Have to agree, there's a massive gap between the NL & Champ. Just look at the scores of Bickley, McGurk & Coles. All 8-9 point riders in NL but are struggling to score anything in the Champ. Pijper being a sub 7.00 rider would be out of his depth as things stand. Champ needs to be weakened imo

  13. No, but maybe you should go back and read your comments on this forum when the meeting was originally staged. You didn’t even mention about the dust until Shovlar did, and even then you commented about how it happens a lot, and was similar as a Leicester meeting you went to. The ‘43 years’ comment just makes you look a bit silly - at least it does to anybody who was actually there. We know the truth. Stop being deliberately negative and trying to put people off.

  14. Absolutely ridiculous, the result should be only a matter of days surely, Ben, if innocent has lost a lot of earnings because of this fiasco, if guilty the. He deserves the outcome but at least let the guy know one way or another

  17. If they'd put out that team, they would have been fined. Since only 4 of those riders are legal. Connor Coles cannot guest at Belle Vue as he has already had his quota of guest bookings. Josh Embleton is in the Armadale 1-7 with a 3.54 average. So couldn't come in as an unattached 3.00 rider as he is neither unattached, nor 3.00 Not so easy is it? Want to try again and see if you can actually come up with a better team that actually complies with the rules?

  20. Covering their pride and joy state of the art tartan track would cost a lot more than stripping some turf up. Plus it would be an open air temporary track. Way too risky. Surely BV NSS with 15 to 20bk temp capacity sold out is better.

  27. Glad you’ve finally realised this is an irrelevant conversation. Just a shame you had to mention it in the first place. I just hope that people reading this thread don’t take what you’re saying seriously. This forum has enough doom-mongers, without people having to bring negativity to a meeting that should be a huge success. What the promotion has done at Oxford has been amazing this season, and they don’t deserve outrageous comments such as yours.

  29. Belle Vue are a mightily good side at home end of. They build well utilising riders from last season who were gaining in ability and track knowledge, scooped up Ablitt on a small average and are properly dialled in at NSS. They have put 60+ on 3 sides this year and 50+ on the other 3. Even Leicester who have a strong squad this year will have their work cut out to come away with anything.

  34. In one way I agree, it should be a great match, the best possible advert for British Speedway. But I wanna get home before midnight! Yes loads of urban roads around, even if you can't park on Kirkmanshulme lane head towards Longsight market and there will be somewhere to park.

  35. I'm not going to argue, I wasn't aware than the replacement for Jamie had to be an unattached 3.00er which in itself is ridiculous, still plenty of better 3.00ers in the amateur scene than Dean. How can Kent's team be built with 4 riders at a 3 point average anyway, it's ridiculous and this type of team building is what creates such strung out races. But like I said, if you enjoy watching lapped riders and riders who can't beat broken down riders then fine. Enjoy the rest of your season British speedway really has gone down the pan... Tonight we have a very inexperienced u-21 rider (although having a decent season) guesting as a number 3 in the reigning league champions!! It's just a joke and embarrassing and is never going to attract new fans The whole sport needs looking at, to create better racing

  36. Riders who would have been a better option than Dean Douglas on an average less than Jamie Halder (3.53): Gregor Millar, Kyran Lyden, Alex Goldsbrough, Josh Embleton (3.56, guest for Sam Woolley, RR for Jamie instead) All of these riders easily outscore Dean in the NJL/Amateur scene, and speaking of the amateur scene, there's A LOT of other riders who would have done a better job also. 1. Dan Thompson 2. Josh Embleton* 3. Danno Verge 4. Jamie Halder (R/R)* 5. Connor Coles (an ex Belle Vue rider with a high average and much better than Greg Blair) 6. Chris Watts* 7. Jack Shimelt* (Local to Manchester and has some actual potential in the future, so makes sense) This team may not have been competitive, but at least it gives fans some semi competent riders to cheer on, but like I say, if you enjoy watching riders get lapped and failing to beat broken down team mates, then so be it... Not my problem. But throwing incapable riders into the NDL with zero experience and little control of the bike and asking them to race the likes of Jake Mulford, Jack Smith and Nathan Ablitt is just downright dangerous. No wonder there's so many falls and injuries in the NDL. The gulf between the top riders and the wobblers at the back is a joke.

  37. Rumours and a lot of hear say. Our club need to be clear with the fans on intentions for the rest of the season and confirm next year, Birmingham have. Obviously things can change so it can't be final. They're just very slow when it comes to anything this season it seems. Ully injured on Sunday, confirmed the day after by Glasgow, most fans knew the news and then club announce it Wednesday.....

  41. No chance I'm afraid. Its actually the Home base of British Athletics and has been for some years and also the world famous Birchfield Harriers. It's a shame they are removing the portable seating in one respect but welcome in another as it will become a ready made excellent Stadium for Athletics and other Events. Don't see where the demand is for a second GB in UK to be honest when they can only half fill Cardiff one a year.

  42. I knew Alan most of my childhood and adult life from growing up in Kingstanding, and also when he had his own shop in Erdington. Alan would be appalled if his name was being used as a publicity stunt, he would want any moneys raised to go to a charity which suited a lot of good causes. Joe Thurley was a well respected man at Birmingham and without him in the 1970s there would be no Birmingham Speedway even today and he even was helping out at the reopening in 2007.Joe's name should be honoured at Birmingham but for some reason his name and memory are not even recognised in fact its been dumped in the bin(shame on Birmingham) it's a shame because no one is more befitting of a memorial at Birmingham than Joe.

  43. Your obviously close to Lewi. If they had stuck by you for 10 years despite your form hasn't been the best. Then you had £1000's from a testimonial. Left before the parade on our last win.... Has said he was relieved to go. Why not step down??. I think a professional should of done the right thing. We all know last years collarbone didn't play up for a day . Why not ride your last meeting, say thanks to the fans, ride your arse off to show them they made a mistake??

  44. With six teams in the league it’s a joke that we have to have a cup final in late October

  45. Completely agree, imagine if he’d have got injured Thursday night riding for a club that has already sacked him and effectively halved his earning potential for the rest of this season, and then his earning potential falls to zero

  46. Poor professionalism?? If I got sacked from work but they asked me could I help them out and work a day I would tell them bollocks. He’s one of the most professional riders out there. If you had won on Thursday it wouldn’t of even bothered you about lewi not being there.

  47. Maybe one day the bspa or l or whatever they call themselves these days will wonder where all the riders have gone and wonder if they had any part in it, if they solve that they can then start on finding the missing fans and wonder if they had any part in their disappearance

  48. He wasn't injured, Lynn had sacked him

  49. Being a professional he should. As BB has said we have stood by him for many years when other clubs most definitely would have moved him on.You would have thought he would have managed one more meeting for the years of loyalty showed to him from Lynn.If Lynn hadn't have stood by him for those years how many weeks/months/years wages would he have lost through not having a club in the top flight.
