It seems to me that trying to place any firm parameters on rain-offs is futile. Local knowledge is the vital thing - stadium access, track conditions, machinery available (and if it can actually get on the track) all point to what might be possible. Add in weather forecasts and the financial considerations I outlined above. In the end the buck stops with the Promoter, who has to make a decision* - right or wrong. I’ve postponed meetings that could in the end have been raced, and not postponed ones that led ultimately to either a very late call off or an abandonment. The one thing I hope we all agree on is that in the current climate no Promoter can afford to incur all the fixed costs of a meeting without a high level of assurance the meeting can be staged. * Prior to the arrival of the referee who then assumes the role of decision maker.5 points

Yes but you know the bspl will screw it up somehow, one female rider will be unavailable and they will get bomber in drag to guest in place of her4 points

No it doesn't. It just needs common sense, effort and will to get the meeting on when possible without excuses that don't stack up. When you're not doing the organising and paying the bills though then logic and solutions usually come easy. I wish they'd called this off at 10am in the morning. I also gave £50 to the collection but I thought that it was collection to take the mic off the bloke making all of that noise pollution up to about 7.10, as well as locking the DJ in the bog for the evening!3 points

Switched it on at heat 8 - more entertaining speedway then quite a few meetings I've watched this season.2 points

Yet again the inside was the place to be if you made the gate with very little chance of anyone making an outside pass. I am sure Kings Lynn were delighted, Not sure Peterborough fans would be of the same opinion. Fast race times generally mean a grippy white line, a trapping contest and a follow the leader from start to finish.2 points

As all three Ekstraliga matches will be at the same time, as Racers and Royals said, Kergel's ucoz link will be the place to find them all. The VK links we will have to wait and see, but they obviously will likely only focus on one of the 3 meetings. Once they come live, I'll add them.2 points

When I arrived at the track around 5pm, the track staff were just getting access to it as it had been too wet to do anything with, the surface was bladed off and they all restarted laying a fresh surface with additional new material, once relaid it looked quite good but very grippy, once the riders and management s looked at it, it was all bladed off again, difficult to imagine who requested that. But that left it slick with pretty much nothing left and a trappers paradise, times were good but the racing was complete shyte and didn’t suit anyone on the home side other than Basso who was riding with a shoulder injury. It certainly didn’t suit Bomber and with Andersen and Nicholls on their usual steeds it was very predictable which way this match would go. For the record I still don’t think Lynn will make the Play offs2 points

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery? .......poor form once again from the mafia, at least make reference to the work started by IOW rather than trying to pass off as thier own idea. Embarrassing once again by those in charge.2 points

There lies the problem as i think its better if they ride the bikes myself,2 points

My immediate thought was "isn't Barry Bishop doing this already and with far more passion and sincerity than the BSPL could ever muster"2 points

Max has had an average as far back as 16 July. ( and higher than Vinnie). I would suggest Vinnie is in because there was a qualifying round at Mildenhall on 10 April. Although not qualifying he scored enough points to be elevated to the line up following withdrawals by those who finished ahead of him. (Max was too young to ride in the semi final.)1 point

Plymouth Glasgow won't be staged b4 cut off So Plymouth have just match v Redcar to count in play off calculation. Presumably they'll have to race after cut off to avoid a hefty fine.1 point

Number 17 in this meeting, Mario Häusl, is quite an interesting character. His father is German but his mother comes from the Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean, and Mario is quite proud of that fact, and usually he wears the national flag of the Seychelles on his kevlars. In the SGP3 though he represents the DMSB and Germany.1 point

I believe it goes to the 3rd decimal point first, then who was higher in averages previous month. At least what I was advised when questioned ulle and Tom for us1 point

I thought the track was fantastic considering, Buster did an absolutely cracking job once again! He wasn't going to be at the showground yesterday, but obviously he was needed to come to the rescue after the rain (and I'm glad he did!)1 point

They did you proud last season!! If I was a Boro fan I'd want to know what's gone wrong, injuries have obviously played a big part .....1 point

That's an interesting question, as back in the 1960's and early 70's, the "market" for speedway riders was basically Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden. Denmark didn't really emerge until after Ole Olsen, Norway and Finland began emerging in the late 1970's plus there were one-off's from Germany and Holland. Russian, Polish, and most East European riders were tucked up behind the Iron Curtain until the early 1980's when a couple of Poles and some Czechs were allowed to earn some western currency, for themselves and their host clubs. British promoters were able, back then, to dictate who rode for which club, and the terms upon which they were employed. British league racing was a weekday evening affair, with the best riders free to ride FIM events, long-track grass track or other individual meetings at weekends "on the continent". The only time "western" riders got to see Polish or other Eastern European tracks was for FIM World Championship (Team, Pairs or Individual) meetings. The rest of the time, travel there and back was forbidden, or more agro than it was worth. Speedway on TV was a once-or-twice-a-year treat, with highlights of the World Final and possibly the WTC Final on World of Sport on a Saturday afternoon. Eastern European riders were pretty much tied to JAWA machinery whilst the rest of the world benefited from the developments of Weslake, Godden and latterly GM engines. A lot has changed since those days. Poland has changed immensely as a country and speedway in Poland has adapted to change a lot better than the "we're British and we know best" promoters in this country have managed to do with the sport over here. Just as Britain is no longer the epicentre of world football or world tennis, so it's lost that dominance in speedway to Poland, where they get huge attendances, huge television audiences, and huge sponsorships that are powering them to a position where they have to take measures to protect their investments. And understandably so. We have to resign ourselves to having lost control of the sport in Britain, and just as British promoters dictated to the rest of Western Europe how it could conduct its affairs before the Iron Curtain fell, so now we have to accept that we're just minnows in the sport and that we have to fit in with what other countries are doing.1 point

Let everyone make their own judgement. The view was overwhelming at the time that it was unfair riding. The impact on Plymouth, Peterborough and MPT himself has clearly been dramatic. There are far more dangerous people walking round in society and on speedway bikes than a partially fit MPT aren't there!?? He never touched him - I was there, some 30 metres away with a clear view. Has about as much credibility as Boris saying there were no Parties in 10 Downing Street to my knowledge1 point

After a ropey start BSN definitely upped their game and been a good product for the most part. Certainly preferable to Eurosport imo and as I've always said think championship racing is better in general1 point

I thought it was very well done. I thought the presenters were very good - light-hearted, chatty and knowledgeable. They kept my interest during the long gaps much better than happens on Eurosport. I thought Dave Rowe and Adam Roynan complemented each other well too.1 point

I want to watch the potential future stars, young as they are. Where is the GB up to promoting 250 racing? I watching qualifying for MotoGP/2;3 and scheduled for this afternoon is Moto-e, and Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup which is the youngsters. DORNA see the need to move forward, apart from what I said above, they are introducing next year a shorter Moto GP race for Saturday afternoon, which will give points to winners. The new promotors of F1 started a new short race on the Saturday last year at certain tracks and going with it this year.1 point

But it's not a "gimmick" is it? To accept cash they would have to build turnstiles, find/employ volunteers/staff comfortable with or willing to handle cash, security to protect them. Someone has to find a bank branch open and queue to withdraw cash for a float. Somewhere secure has to be provided overnight to secure the cash or arrangements made for it to be collected by securicor or similar. Then another queue at a bank to deposit the next morning. All against downloading an app onto a phone and scanning a QR code. Card payments are probably down to the charges from the collecting systems - between around £1.50 per transaction as they are based around volume - the charges start to fall dramatically once you handle 250,000 transactions. I think a lot of clubs envy Oxford's position of handling minimal amounts of cash and the fact that tickets are available online until 15 minutes before start should accommodate last minute decisions. 2021 post Covid proved the numbers unable to buy tickets online were minimal. Anyone genuinely struggling should contact their clubs directly and I would suggest that in 99% a solution could be found.1 point
