It's not the riders wage demands that puts the club or any other club at risk, it's the idiots running the club who choose to pay what they can't afford that puts the club at risk. It isn't the riders responsibility to make sure their wages are affordable to a club. If someone is stupid enough to pay stupid money, that's on them. I mean, who the hell would pay £15K for 3 meetings? Depends on what it's worth to them. Promotors need to stop blaming riders wage demands for the insolvency of their businesses. If you can't afford Rider A, don't employ them.10 points

Who are the idiots though, those who see modern day speedway as a bit of a joke and have walked away to spend time and money on other things rather than speedway or people like me and others who continue to spend money and be happy to be watching any old rubbish.7 points

The majority of the people on this forum moaned about how the 2022 season was run, yet the same faces are moaning that the results of the AGM have been delayed. Good grief...if it takes a couple of days longer to get it right for 2023, it's worth it isn't it? I'd much rather they took their time and improved the product. Whether they actually do improve it is another thing, but give them a chance at least. Moan afterwards if necessary! And personally I'm glad they said there's been a delay, that's already an improvement on keeping everyone completely in the dark for two days.6 points

Never going to happen and probably for the best cause we’re not in the 70/80s anymore.4 points

Lets hope they have stopped any team for using a guest for the whole season, after losing their Number one at the start of the season4 points

I really wouldn't mind Castrol R40 coming back -- that aroma was heavenly!4 points

No because most of the idiots who do critical posts on here don't attend anymore just hark on about the old days when everything was so much better . Upright engines ,13 heats ,wooden fences ,open face helmets with monkey masks , Castrol r, open silencers,4 points

Unless our former owner has managed to get an engine & gearbox for his food van he won't be able to go to the AGM & sell food & drink so we won't be represented4 points

Bjerre and Anders Thomson now that would be a good 1 & 5 whichever way round. Sounds very much like good news is around the corner for panthers! Fingers crossed for an announcement soon…. I certainly feel like the new owner could be the man too take panthers forward and listen too the fans more aswell.3 points

You mean Prescott was a politician who had a real job before entering politics as opposed to the the useless arrogant posh boys who use their sense of entitlement to blag their way through Eton, while fornicating with pigs, prior to landing a cushy number as a party advisor.3 points

Makes no sense to drop down. No local derbies on bank Holidays, watered down product in the Championship that would see attendances take a hit. Basically no point in Tomlain buying the club just to throw away his own money and run at a big loss. Pretty sure we're in the Prem and the AGM statement is just being delayed so they can release it on SpeedwayStar day.3 points

Never before has a truer word been spoken. If people want to discuss and debate any other situation involving bickering between the two clubs then create a thread for that. let’s just focus on the Gladiators and what side is announced for 2023 first of all Interesting to see what signings are announced in the coming weeks3 points

The shortage of eggs at the pre AGM Wetherspoon Breakfast Bash caused chaos as egg replacement wasn't available. Premiership promoters claimed priority, but were out voted and had to scramble for more bacon. It all made a hash brown of things! The Chairman was blamed for the deal that had given one egg supplier (Hen-ilass) an exclusive supplier agreement.3 points

Panthers new owner has big plans and has provided a budget he claims will at least be equal to Belle Vue. Apparently exciting times ahead for the club and this won't be the last year. Expect an announcement soon. Oh we'll be wearing purple it seems2 points

He was a waiter who crept his way up the union ranks, then up the government ranks, and when he was Deputy Prime Minister it was obvious that he was just a waiter.2 points

I think points should only be scored for finishing ahead of an opposition rider. There shouldn't be any reward for finishing 3rd and 4th and would avoid the inflationary problem of bonus points.2 points

People would be expecting news after the AGM, to say nothing would have been worse imo.2 points

The same "idiots" that everyone will be expecting to put their hand in the pocket to watch meetings next season. Great stuff.2 points

I was at a Chargers match at Oxford, and there were a lot, lot more than 300 there. I would estimate close to 1,000..….1 point

Ha, ha.......Not really that relevant but this has brought back memories of seeing the first ever Comets superstar Bob Valentine (Bluey was his Oz name) when he was living in a caravan too........right outside the Crewe Kings track, think he did track work as well as starring for Ian Thomas/Jeff Brownhutt and their Comets. I was on way to see Worky Reds v Crewe soccer match and had made a diversion to have a butchers at the Kings speedway track.......Bob appeared, prob to check us out, and we certainly had a great craic with him. Think Reds won too. ..1 point

For me personally the race night isn't a problem. It was a few years ago but not anymore. But I get that 90% of Poole fans need/want it to be on a Weds. I just can't see how you can work that with Denmark though.1 point

There are rules to stop this as is deemed "not Racing" but is hardly ever enforced by the referee as difficult to prove(ha).1 point

Well I am sure he only said what he thought was true at the time. That may have changed but that isn't necessarily his fault.1 point

Maybe all this delay is down to Leicester not moving into the prem ? Which would mean alot of team's team building thrown into meltdown1 point

It’s a sport wide issue and a result of bad planning overall. Not just down to Leicester. Edit: This is one of the major flaws of the sport being self governed. Clubs should declare any dates their home stadium is unavailable on their race night for the season then be given a fixture list to adhere to. No fannying about because Rider X is riding in his national championship, that’s the meeting taking place that week end of. The fixture list should contain a few blank weeks to fit in rain offs. The league and cup should be wrapped up by the end of August. September and October can be used for individuals, fillers etc.1 point

The AGM should be nothing more than a "nodding exercise" given everything would have already been discussed and pretty much agreed.. Danny Ford said as much in that Echo interview didnt he? Gone are the days of the room becoming a "bear pit" where the promoters end up arguing with each other to get across their own agenda.. Hence, all the "leg work" is done during regular meetings during the season.. Therefore. "Strange" that no announcements were forthcoming immediately... Have they put a "deadline" as to when the announcement will need to be made by? One that they can then fail to meet... Wonder if it was the biscuit choices that were the stumbling block...1 point
