Had Ivan Mauger, Barry Briggs, Ronnie Moore or Jason Doyle not ventured to the UK to further their career aspirations, then potentially we would never have witnessed some of our speedway greats. At present speedway in the UK is in turmoil and struggling financially and a dire shortage of NDL riders capable of being competitive. What we do not need is every NDL filled to the brim with riders sliding down the scale into the teams, but yes realistically every team needs a level of experience to help and steer the youngsters. So after our Premier League was stripped of stars by Poland`s dictatorship why can we not help develop riders from the Commonwealth and give them opportunities. Surely the likes of Jacob Hook, James Pearson and George Congreve could be given the green light to ride in the NDL. However convoluted it maybe, Connor Bailey is riding, so good for him to have a team place and hopefully progression to higher levels through the NDL experience.2 points

Emil.....Won't be at Peterborough. That's an absolute given. Don't need Sources, just need to know the right sources.2 points

I must admit I'm now unsure because of other rumours but I'd still go with what I was told weeks ago tbh. There must be a reason they're waiting out though. The Pedersen, Sayfutdinov and Andersen rumours just confuse matters. NKI Worrall Tungate Basso Holder Cook Jenkins2 points

It actually doesn't matter what this country believes. It is the FIM who made this ruling in March 2022.2 points

the old NL used to be British & Commonwealth only until Rye House screwed that up, British speedway would have been in a much better position now had that not happened2 points

Michael Tomalin on Facebook 3 riders confirmed with 4 more exciting coming very soon!I I’m a winner we will be in the race for sure2 points

Sorry for being repetitive as I keep repeating myself, but I do believe people know stuff on here and they’re not blagging. But a rider can be “in” on the Monday, and then “out” again on the Tuesday. Still, as frustrating as it can be, it’s still giving us some interesting stuff to talk about while we’re waiting for March.2 points

Still 12 weeks to our first meeting! We are not dealing with dad's army here. Don't panic. Maybe Ipswich fans will get to see Emil at Foxhall early season after all or maybe not.2 points

If memory serves me correctly, the entrance to Derwent Park was no better. Nor, for that matter, are the car parking facilities at places like Edinburgh, Scunthorpe or Ipswich. Buxton was like a minefield, trying to avoid potholes and chunks of concrete. I do take your point, though. If the speedway club own the road - or at least have responsibility for it - then they could be liable. Isolated is a better word than remote, but I'd say the track is the best part of two miles from the centre of town along main roads or unlit paths. I really can't see many walking it, especially early or late season. I thought the track was, in no uncertain terms, superb. If people do have expectations higher than the basics to start with then they are being entirely unreasonable. Building a stadium from scratch in this manner takes years, as can be seen at Plymouth, Redcar and Scunthorpe.2 points

Yeah was pretty crazy that a rider pulls out of a race injured and then you bring in a rider as a TS. Never get away with it now!1 point

Can we keep Glasgow and Cammie knickers out of this comets post, even if it's funny they can't win a trophy1 point

Nothing wrong with camie . He's not a bad manager. There have just had a bit of bad look1 point

I've read comments like that often, but when was Kasprzak last beaten by a "rising star" granted his last GP season was dissapointing - but there's no RS in that, same with the Extraliga, not the force he once was, but the Premiership is a far weaker league!1 point

Nearest thing to Crump at the EoES I've seen but that was over a decade ago.1 point

That still doesn`t alter anything- Emil is riding on a Polish licence and they will not give start permission for anywhere other than Poland.1 point

It might be that Commonwealth riders would/could ride for an NDL side only if they are already included in a CL 1-7 (and thus have visa approval)?1 point

If you get 100 in the 100 club @ the £100 each that works out @ 10k not a bad little back-up I should think. It will be very interesting how you get on.1 point

Geoff , can you explain jyst what is this supposed tm say , please translate ! LOL .1 point

This is a non debate, like many before him I would expect Morris to be no more than back up for Grindsted, riding the odd match when Birmingham don't have a fixture.1 point

He's hardly going to say the team looks distinctly average and will be bottom half lol! I'm happy with JJ back, deserved it after end of seasons performances1 point

Jenkins was starting to progress well towards the end of last season, hopefully that trajectory continues.1 point

Poole to strengthen and/or Leicester to weaken for this one. As a Poole asset, Lawson to ride for Poole maybe?1 point

It's interesting to see that there's no mention of the dates for the Jubilee Trophy Final against Poole in the Lion's fixtures published today. Does anyone know when they might be?1 point

These are the exact riders that SHOULD be riding in the NDL... So many unused British riders who could pass on so much knowledge to younger riders... It's ridiculous they're frozen out for being too good and too experienced1 point
-
I see it different to you mate even though I'm not opposed to this in principle if every club had a commonwealth rider that would be 8 British riders without a place . Should only be allowed after all British riders of a competitive level have a spot1 point

Halifax ran on a Saturday and it was ideal,as after the speedway a lot of fans drifted off into the local pubs and clubs, and fish and chip shops,so it was a winner all round.1 point

All it needs is a slip trip or fall and where there is blame there is a claim... once upon a time it was your fault if you tripped over... not now... and the walk to Northside is riddled with potential trip hazards... Also no one said it was remote however it is in an isolated position in the town without easy (walking) access at present but I can see that changing in the short to medium term... but it is much better if you are in a vehicle to get to the track... Folk will need to temper their expectations as this will be a work in progress for a number of years and a multitude of factors will need to be looked at as part of the on going process... Take away the no lights issue . then we have Friday will be a no go as some of the comets or away side will be riding in the championship, so can't ride for 2 teams on the same night, and mr Godfrey does not like Workington to run on Fridays Sundays are when a lot of the under 21 etc meetings are ran, so some of the riders may be missing from home or away team, so that leaves Saturday afternoon, so roll on the new season UTC give us a C1 point
