Should have just binned this off if you’re not going to hold it at every track. Three clubs get a home advantage while the others don’t, just devalues the whole thing.5 points

Its such a good signing, i dont think kyles been 100% fit the last few seasons, absolute bargain average too.5 points

Not according to the interview with Ablitt in the Star.. A two year plan was drawn up re team averages it states, hence they had planned in this seasons team and then had to make changes.. However, let's be honest, thinking a plan would last two years is probably a bit naive... Having plans lasting ONE year is an achievement sometimes...4 points

In fairness it was the Danny Ayres meeting where he got 1. By comparison Morley scored 2 and Hook got 3 and the podium was made up of Lawson, King and Heeps. As ive said previously im glad Congreve has got a NDL chance but its going to feel a lot worse if riders on comparable signing averages like Hodder, Simpson, Butcher and even Bebee miss out because of a dubious loophole that has been slammed shut previously.4 points

What he was or wasn't last season is entirely irrelevant. By virtue of the Diamonds expulsion he effectively didn't exist last season. There was a lot of misinformation from the Diamonds promotion so who really knows but my understanding was that the Diamonds promotion didn't have a licence to employ work permit riders but could sign Congreve because he was able to take out an ACU licence. Not sure on what basis. There was plenty of content about it on the Diamonds 2022 thread at the time with most expecting his to be an assessed 2.00 as a result. The fact that he ended up being an assessed 4.00 didn't really matter as the Diamonds were incredibly under strength anyway. As I stated before it probably made the Diamonds line up look more acceptable than it ever was in practice. I think the key point is he couldn't have been a foreign rider because the Diamonds promotion didn't have the appropriate sponsors licence to employ such a rider. There really is no point in trying to make sense of any of this. The fact that he appears to have been given an assessed NL average which doesn't fit any known criteria tells you everything you need to know. It's all just made up to suit.3 points

Lol. That’s right. Ben Cook will be a fans favourite within a month of the start of the season. A better rider than Batch next season and certainly better than Hans. Averages might not yet show it but potential is big. Fast gater, never gives up and is fast. But remember, he is a pirate first and foremost.3 points

Credit to the lad, travelling half way round the world to race in the NL. We have had some English lads not willing to travel a lot shorter distance in England over the last couple of years. He deserves a chance in my opinion, just be good for someone in authority to clarify how he ended up with a 4.5 average.3 points

When you're paying £22 for 15/16 minutes of racing you want to see Emil racing not Worrall and Hans!3 points

Correct, although it would be nice if the management named the team asap to stop all the drivel being posted on here2 points

Hope there's a bar as it's a tradition that Team Harrison and Mcgurk have a beer after any meeting there at together.2 points

I think I’m the only non - Birmingham supporter who likes the look of there team sedgeman turned himself around massively from a season where he was dropped by both his championship and premier team into a two point increase in his average and performing well at Sheffield too. Nick Morris scored himself out of position elsewhere this season, should be getting at least 5 rides a night so I’m hoping he does well. surely everyone can agree that the side looks stronger than what I did in 20222 points

Peaky Blinders and Happy Valley outstanding in my opinion. As for American football, having endured it on holiday... Any game that stops for adverts is a joke. I'd love to see them play either code of Rugby or Gaelic or Aussie Rules too full on for 80 mins without being able to stand watching for 80% of the game. Pansy game2 points

Richie?take it you mean Lawson.Think they would have kept the same Heat-leaders though.Think that was the reason for the “lowered averages”.Riders have been doing it for years.2 points

Easily on pace with Morley, Atkins, Coles on the Island....maybe not ahead but on pace. Certainly looks capable of NDL heatleader and only thing that is likely to hold him back will be his inclusion in my dream team.2 points

Hume had opportunities and offers elsewhere this coming season but Louis refused to release him just in case he was needed. I wonder if Louis feels he owes him a team place now that all the others have moved on and completed their teams. He should do to be honest. You can’t deny the lad the opportunity to earn a living elsewhere and then not end up using him yourself.2 points

Not quite... Michael Lowrie won the Scottish Under-21 title on 13 September at Powderhall (Edinburgh) which was part of the Scottish Individual Riders Championship, won by Scott Lamb, with James Grieves winning the Under-18 title. The Junior Championship was held at Shawfield on 13 Oct 1991 (points scored carried into the final - I don't have the race times) Heat 1: Grieves, Fraser Smith, Paul Taylor, Raymond Fosbury Heat 2: Stuart Coleman, Wayne Park, Stuart Crome (retired), Stewart McDonald (fell excluded) Heat 3: Coleman, Grieves, Fosbury, Crome Heat 4: Smith, Park, Taylor (only 3 riders) Final: Grieves, Coleman, Smith, Park (fell remounted) As Grieves & Coleman both scored 8 points, a race-off was needed, which Grieves won.1 point

Okie Dokie,,, now let's see if this back up plan held any water,,, I doubt it very much,, we will soon find out1 point

That's the last time I ever stray off subject on this Forum . Can't believe I have opened Pandora's box last night just prior to Newman's announcement. Won't make that mistake again1 point

Batch instead of Cook would make Peterborough even weaker ,Cook at reserve could produce the same results as Basso last season Cook has more scoring potential and a better attitude than Batch as you will soon find out when the dorset mafia find out what your saying about a pie rats rider you'll be sorry1 point

As it stands you have Richie Worrall and Hume. Red tape holding up any move for Sayfutdinov but they want him1 point

Official ranking now. 1. Poole (Strongest reserve pairing in the league, Very reliable top two and both Cook's are only going to improve again) 2. Redcar (Really like everything about this team outside of James Shanes, Can easily be replaced by Dan Thompson or something after the first set of GSA's) 3. Glasgow (Very good 1-5 but the reserves may see them fall short again next season, Complin's real 2022 average was 3.08 I think so that's a poor signing imo) 4. Plymouth (Very good side and they're the dark horses in 2023 if Barker behaves himself off the track) 5. Scunthorpe (Should go very well at Home as always, Poses a threat to the teams above if Jake Allen finds his old form) 6. Edinburgh (Consistency could be an issue with this side imo, Castagna, Fredriksen and Hook can all be hit or miss, Craig Cook has to find his old form as well) 7. Oxford (Tail end is far too weak to do any damage, Nicholls has got one eye on retirement as well so Scotty could be set to drop his average again imo) 8. Berwick (Too many question marks over the top two, Weak reserves) 9. Birmingham (Lacks Heat Winners and the engine room isn't good)1 point

Of course you get people who won't but Foxhall will be good crowds majority of the time if the racing's good! Of course we all want to win but watching Doyle and Emil would be worth the match fee alone. Nobody's paying the entrance fee to watch Danny King ride on a non existent racing line or Richie Worrall fitting it out at the back1 point

But not speedway in general I’d guess. Hume was trails and motocross before he had a crack at speedway quite late on. Completely different skill set. Pointless predicting anyhow some riders progress some don’t. Best just to wait and see.1 point

Perhaps not a number 1 but a commonwealth rider on a 4.5 average maybe. Riders like Congreve or Azza Jackson look a bit of a steal on those figures.1 point
-
Yes that is a good point although I would be confident for our reserves to outscore them on aggregate.1 point

With reductions last year's team is 42.28. So just a little over the 42. If you replace Drew with Jack Thomas then it would be 41.86. So if limit did stay at 42, I think we would have just had the one change as quite close to the limit!1 point

Think Kennedy and Thompson at Scunthorpe are pretty equal to ours, think maybe ours shade it on experience though thinking about it1 point

Always amazes me when clubs say they may not be able to afford to run next year and then a few weeks later are building a potentially title winning side great that they are coming to the tapes though of course. Also not their fault but Congreve's average is farcical!1 point

I think you’d both be in the minority and not even close. Would you get more of a buzz queuing for the first meeting knowing you’re about to see a combo of Ritchie Worrall and Hans Andersen or Emil Sayfutdinov? I think the vast majority of supporters up and down the country would take the hit of having a weaker second rider if it meant watching Emil every other week.1 point

Reading the piece in the star this week I genuinely felt sorry for the lad. once the Poole team line up from 1-7 was ready for the playoffs and cup matches he never got his heat 8 ride, then depending on the opposition 6 and 7 he could lose his heat 12 ride to Zach too. So in reality out of his programmed 4 rides against his oppositions #7 he was in only getting 2/3 to try and make/improve on his average. From the outside looking in and seeing his scoring he wouldn’t be very attractive for teams for 2023 which is a shame as most teams are taking a 2 pointer at reserve. Had he been allowed to actually race in all of his designated heats maybe his scoring may have been a lot more impressive. Not that I’m hoping for anyone in the league to lose there spot for 23 but it would be interesting to see how he performs when given all four of his rides in the designated heats.1 point

Regardless of being an asset a rider is self employed and does not have to wait if he got fixed up there would be nothing poole could of done . the asset system is entirely for the purpose of the bond to the Bspl1 point
