  1. Poole doing their bit for youth development by going with reserves who have a combined age of 65

  2. No one likes arrogance either and Poole seem to have a fair few amongst their fans.

  4. Good signing should clean up with all the 2 pointers .

  5. Management have to do something because they'll run at a massive financial loss otherwise. They won't shift many season tickets with just the 3 riders announced and barely anyone will buy one if the team is 2 something under the limit containing both Andersen & Worrall. Our management have talked a big game all winter so they've got to deliver the goods now.

  6. I'm assuming you mean the USA Vs World event? Unfortunately the timing for this has landed right between our transitioning of websites so this one will be on the old website. We will post direct links to the meeting to make it easier to sign up, all accounts on the old website will be transferred to the new website though so you won't have to sign up again at a later date. As for pricing, this will be a one off fee and won't be included in any of the Season Passes as they are for Premiership and Championship coverage. Drop us an email at support@exstreammedia.co.uk and I will give you access to the old platform once you've bought your new pass if you wish to view last season's footage. We will also be moving all footage to the new website and making it available for all Pass holders.

  8. Looks like Poole fans don't like speedway!!! All they do is call each other names. No wonder everyone hates Poole

  9. The top GP boys no doubt are on top money if the rumours from last season were correct and that Lambert was on 5k a meeting for Belle Vue, but it's the guaranteed bit i don't like about these deals, no riders gonna bust a gut if he gets paid the same if he scores 2 points or 12 points.

  10. as has been said before the problem is the next step up is clogged up with 1st division riders

  11. This is where the NDL has a problem as its doesn't know what it wants to be. Higher limit, "higher standard" or a Lower limit and be a conveyor belt pushing riders in, through and up into the next levels?. Unfortunately as the NDL is now governed heavily by higher powers and has few standalone teams to back their own corner it will continue to lurch to and fro with a succession of more radical changes rather than a long term plan of stability. The NDL has long been the saviour of British speedway and yet it is rarely treated that way.

  14. An amazing coincidence, but I’ve just released a podcast chatting to Adam Roynon all about his speedway life..! https://pod.fo/e/15e4d2

  15. Maybe not clean up but they should easily beat the 2 pointers and i can't see Pearson and Hook beating them on a regular basis . This is not arrogance but confidence.

  16. I'm sure it's been said before but if that was any other teams 1-7 people be picking holes in it all over the place. But being Poole's have to expect be up there. Not convinced roynon and Newman will "clean up" as has been suggested. 2 injury prone riders on the wane imo and some of others teams youngsters (Edwards, Pearson, maybe even hook) to improve past them. No doubt score well at home but not so sure away.

  18. Our "management" haven't said ANYTHING all winter, apart from announce the signings of Basso, Cook and Jenkins. Any other riders linked with us are somewhere between informed rumours and pure guesses.

  21. I think there is going to be some changes made. I know I said we’ve signed 7 riders… which we have but speedway is brutal and I believe we might see one or two new faces than the team we all believe before the season starts

  22. I think it goes deeper than marketing. We have to be really honest and say the overall product isn't up to the mark. And I don't mean the racing, I think the pure sport is actually pretty good compared with some more successful sports. Then again, I am biased. I mean the overall experience of going to speedway in the UK. Catering, spectator facilities, entertainment, crowd interaction, presentation..its all light years behind what other sports and other attractions offer in 2023. I'm sure there's plenty on here like me that have had that awful uncomfortable experience of taking newbies to speedway and seeing it through their eyes. All the things you have come to accept - dirty terraces, bars in portakabins, poor presentation, standing around waiting between races - is so very dated to people outside the sport.

  23. Seen some great action there when the dirt line builds as not too many will use it but when they do its a fantastic spectacle, especially when you stand on the back straight, so close to the action. Track sizes are a moot point as you can see riders spaced out over 200-300 yards on some big tracks when slick so it's personal choice I guess.

  24. 156 grand over the season. Nobody is paying that kind of money if those demands are true. Better off chucking Rasmus Jensen his 20k to set up in the Uk and then a decent pounds for points contract. Would probably come to half of that 156k.

  25. I had to laugh at this comment though: "By retiring the Armadale Devils moniker, young riders can now fully focus on their development in the sport with the Monarchs. We hope they will dream of reaching the Monarchs Academy team and then graduating into a fully-fledged Monarch thereafter." Are they suggesting young riders weren't fully focussed on their development because the team was called Armadale instead of Edinburgh?

  26. They are not going to boot a rider they've announced

  27. ...to be honest I can't recall the outcome now or how it was resolved? The Stadium owners weren't that concerned and it wasn't treated as high priority because the stadium was managed by a Dog racing fraternity (GRA?) and nobody used to stand on the back straight during meetings...all residing in the grandstand.

  28. If you look at most Ipswich sides put together since the 90s then my god have we signed some guff riders! All the more reason for the management to take their time and get it right.

  29. I would suggest it is the biggest issue with regards to getting big sponsorship on board from major companies... Betard would drop Wroclaw like a stone if Majic went guesting for another team, and top scored for them in a win, with that team then subsequently beating Wroclaw by a point to the last play off place.. Something that easily can and does happen over here... The league too will never get major sponsorship given its "Mickey Mouse" reputation... There is a very good reason Poland hasnt followed the UK operating model and its because they have seen the results of it...

  31. Yawn! Wake me up when the final rider is announced! Why are Brum, Plymouth and Poole taking so long?! Are they arguing over the same rider?

  32. I would generally agree...15 heats of racing isn't really acceptable in my opinion. However the biggest problem with speedway is that many promotions just lease the stadium and have no real control as regards the lack of facilities. Take catering for example. I learnt thru' Steve Purchase (nice bloke by the way) that all catering and bar sales went to the the stadium owners and he didn't see a penny. Many promoters have their hands tied and in a perfect world they would own the stadium in which they operated from and everyone would benefit? As a matter of interest how many stadiums are actually owned by the speedway promotion in this country? Buster Chapman comes to mind...any others out there?

  36. Think the whole point of moving away from the devils and to the monarchs academy is so it all links with the first team being the Edinburgh monarchs. Bit like a football system where you have the academies who will then move up to the development sides and then eventually the first team. Similar here with the new system the club have put in place where we have the academy the now monarchs academy NDL level and then the Edinburgh monarchs. Nice stepping stones for the kids to look and aim for.

  37. I thought it was a really good meeting. But then I’m not a supporter of either team. It is a very tight track and was clearly struggling with it being a very hot day but most of the riders got stuck in thought clearly some - McGurk, Morris and Pearson - found it too tough. Birmingham just lacked the riders to be able to compete. 2 heat winners all night isn’t likely to keep you close. But, if you look at the league result a few weeks later, you’ll see Pearson learnt from his first visit

  38. Totally agree...it's personal choice. This is just my opinion. I got dizzy watching the online meeting. I'm sure it will probably be a 50/50 split on spectator enjoyment etc... It's just not for me!

  45. Me too, absolutely no way I could attend Speedway at the worst track in British Speedway. However, I’m pleased there are Wolves supporters that do. Small track Speedway is not for me. Each to their own.

  46. A nice little piece from the BBC when speedway was the 2nd biggest spectator sport in the country and riders were paid £3.40 per point. You also catch a few glimpses of a very young Jamie & Jeremy Luckhurst who would both ride for the Monarchs in the late eighties at Powderhall.

  49. You're so right with a good perseived product in whatever league you start/ end up in, get that right and people will come. Also as an away fan always preferred going to an out of town venue rather than a town centre type ( being an Eastie fan I suppose). Went to Tralawney a couple of times on holiday when they were running, that really was remote in a disused china clay pit, but had a pretty good track, a young Chris Harris and pulled in good numbers. Your new track looks to be a winner so sure you'll do fine.

  50. They need to make money somehow... And if travelling from Kent to Edinburgh once a week (not to mention any away meetings in the likes of Manchester) isn't financially viable, they would be dead in the head to accept it, there's no money in speedway and it's not worth financially crippling yourself for years for the sakes of one season in the NL
