It's much less of a conflict than having the same people owning more than one speedway club in competition with each other. So the Facennas choose to invest in Speedway in the UK and all they get is S##t from people. I guarantee they've put more ££ in than they've got out of it.13 points

This is hilarious. You expect the paranoia from the other end of the M8 , but the affliction goes much further than there . Speedway fan - wish the league had a sponsor Speedway God- it has now Speedway Fan - yeah but its a Glasgow promoters company , surely that's a conflict of interests Speedway God - how ? Speedway fan - i dont know it just is . Thats them trying to buy the league again Speedway God - how ? Speedway fan - ( getting more worked up ) I dont know it just is . It seems well dodgy though . Speedway God - in what way ? Speedway fan ( reaching for the valium) i dont know it just is . So there you have it , the league and the sport badly needs sponsors , but only.if it's the right kind of sponsor . If Vladimir Putin owned Cab Taxis , nobody on here would bat an eyelid . But anything to do with splash the cash Glasgow and its , " oh no no no we cant have that "12 points

good for Allied, wish more companies would get involved, speedway needs every penny it can get instead of slagging off for no good reason9 points

Define the conflict of interest, please, as I don’t see any. I see a group willing to invest in British speedway at not just team, and league but also at national team level and goodness me, we need more like them.9 points

Ffs the facennas throw more money at British speedway and the first responses are the usual negative bs. Must wonder why they bother. This is a conflict of interest but Godfrey and ford on the manage committee that's no issue. Couldn't make it up8 points
-
Of course British Speedway is a wash with possible league sponsors so they should turn the Allied money away and get another sponsor6 points

Any money going into the sport is more than welcome. How many times have many of us have said that we need sponsorship for the Leagues. As for conflict of interests is there not other conflicts of interest. Sheffield (My club) and Leicester having the same owners. Kings Lynn and Peterborough having the same owners. Sheffield and Ipswich both sponsored by Guy Nicholls companies. For me it is good news.5 points

Excellent stuff. Speedway is full of conflicts of interest anyway (Campbell compiling the fixtures anyone?) but to have a sponsor and one who will spread the word is great news.4 points

Thank goodness the chairman of the BSPL has no conflicting interests either.4 points

Come on. You don't see that the Facennas owning Glasgow and also sponsoring the league is a dodgy conflict of interests?3 points

Sadly, it was announced tonight that Steve Casey has passed away after a battle with cancer. A wonderful man, a wonderful speedway FAN. After his riding career ended after spells at Ellesmere Port and Newport he returned to his spiritual home at Belle Vue where he performed a superb job as a presentation manager. I was proud to know him when he worked with Allied Dunbar (along with Chris Morton) in the 90s, and used to love our chats at the NSS every meeting in recent years. He always had time for people, and there's no greater compliment that I can give him. It's a lovely coincidence that he passed away as his team are finally the champions again. RIP Steve. A speedway legend who will be missed by many. Thoughts are with his family and friends.2 points

People making a joke of it, and making light of it, but sadly it is speedway shooting itself in the foot again. Imagine the BSPL have to make a big decision involving two teams... One of which has given them a big wad of money, and one of them which hasn't. If the BSPL management committee rule in favour of the team handing out the cash, how is that going to look? It's not even that the BSPL have to be biased, it's just that there has to be the perception that they could be biased. Whchever way you look at it the BSPL ar now conflicted by this. It wouldn't happen in a professionally organised sport. And yes, there are plenty of other conflicts and matters of self-interest in the sport. But ask yourself, is adding another one making things better or worse?2 points

The Facennas must be wondering why they bother in this sport. The constant sniping is just a joke.Conflict of interest what a joke.Try owners with more than one Club that’s more prevalent IMO.2 points

I love how you're all talking as if there's any prize money available... Is there any?2 points

What a place that was. One of my favourite visits as a kid. We got down really early and stayed in a BnB or pub in St Dennis I think it was. We went to the track for a reccy around 1 in the afternoon and got shown all around the place, taken up into the ref's box and really made to feel welcome. Think it may have been Seemond that showed us around. The track was a fantastic watch.2 points

If I was at home I could tell you exactly how many - about 145 I think - but at present I'm in Buenos Aires, having just returned from Bahia Blanca, my latest addition to the list.2 points

NKI must be in the frame. Still fast if he gets away. I think if Buster has next to nowt to do with it, you might get Holder, hate i say it on a bargain ave in this league .1 point

Haven't seen any permutation yet to make me sit up and take note so will wait and see what is eventually served up. Andersen is in as far as I know and virtually everyone keeps leaving him out?1 point

If all 8 teams were entered stand-alone teams would get an extra fixture as an extra round would be required.1 point

Youre finally seeing the light re Tungate deal currently being at a stalemate...... May need to start looking at yet another option at the top end too. A tough few weeks ahead - fingers crossed something works out - dont want a 7 team league thats effectively still 6!!1 point

Grudziadz have received the news that Wadim Tarasienko's Polish citizenship will be granted, and he will be available for selection for them. Massive boost to the club!1 point

I am guessing if Edinburgh win the league in 2023 out of protest they will refuse to accept any prize money Aye right1 point

Good for 6 points a match.....reliable...Not quite as good as S. Worrall ...but will do a good job ....1 point

Totally to do with the standalone clubs wanting more fixtures. Ideally there should be a National Trophy for standalone teams, but with Workington being so far away from Mildenhall & Kent, doesn't suit the league geographically.1 point

Used to love driving down to Bradford on a Saturday nite in mid 80's early 90's after the comets closed on 1981.. a proper fast speedway track1 point

Every bit as exciting as F1? I hope not... Good to see money coming into the sport regardless of where it is from.. At least it is not a middle eastern, misogynistic, homophobic, racist state that is doing it, riding roughshod over any FFP rules....... Ohhh. A little bit of politics there, yes indeed, ladies and gentlemen.. Now give it up for Stavros... Let's hope the top league can get a sponsor too... It's been long enough without one..1 point

You should have tried Brooklands at Romford for getting close to the action. The "Safety Fence" there was interesting.1 point

Agree on the first part if not the second. Iversen is far too brittle these days. Hopefully one of Tomalin's objectives will be planning for when Iversen is on the sidelines. Chances are that it will be needed and a useful exercise.1 point

They've solved the farce of a rider who rides for both teams. Lawson will ride for the Lions and the Pirates will use a guest to cover his absence. Bomber is the favourite to step in.1 point

It won't bother Marcin - he only knows about 10 words of English anyway! I don't think any of the side will be lacking motivation to be honest. The biggest question is going to be, how many foam bags are going to need replacing? I expect the racing will be wild.1 point
