With respect to a tin pot club like Grudziadz, we we are the Peterborough Panthers.6 points

That would be good mate it's fantastic ,been able to manipulate the rules openly is a good tool to have in your locker. Beats paying a rider to do 1 lap then use rr all season (worlds worst kept secret )6 points

Your sounding like Ben Basso Fan there.. As WTF said you have it all wrong. If Tomalin bought the club and backed up what he said there wouldn't be a problem.. You might of well had Holder and Tungate. Talk is cheap, and where is he now ??. Very quiet...... MT f@cked up by jumping the gun on Holder, trying to undermine Buster on the Holder signing, and bragging about buying the club and cocked it up .Buster then went and got NP @£3.5k a meeting. If i was him i would of got a bum and told the fans why... I feel sorry for him if im honest..4 points

You’re about 180 degrees wrong on that. If you had any idea how much harm Tomalin and Johnson have done by promising what they can’t deliver and how much Buster has stepped in and covered their backsides so you actually have speedway at Peterborough you wouldn’t be jumping around like you are.4 points

The Colt's racing filled the gaps well... The Triumph Owners Club was a "bit different" from the run of the mill meeting presentation.. And the National Anthem gave the meeting a bit of "gravitas".. The five and six man races were definitely good to watch and also maintained interest for at least 8 riders through the meeting.. Also noticeable was how many Aces fans were wearing club colours ranging from hats, caps to replica tops, and fleeces... The Aces seem to have got their act together off the track in this respect.. Still lots of opportunity for fan engagement, but the Aces do look like they have moved forward in this area.. The track is a huge bonus which should underpin everything else they do... A very professional set up at the Aces I would suggest...4 points

Mate you’re way off here. Buster has bailed you out more than once in recent years, and even built you a title winning side the year before last. The disrespect he gets on here from some of you Panthers fans is staggering. Be careful what you wish for springs to mind here.3 points

Time to make amends with Tungate and throw Buster under the bus if we have to, Just pin the entire blame onto him. Not being nasty but the team is already proving to be a disaster after one meeting and it's all down to Buster because the Nicki P situation doesn't arise if Tomalin got his side and Worrall wouldn't be having shockers in a Panthers race suit either. Would Holder accept a team place if Tomalin and CJ had a word with him and explain that it was all down to Buster and that Chris won't have to deal with Buster in any way, When it comes to payments and stuff because they'll personally take care of it. If not then we've got to pay Dudek the money he wants because we can't chuck the towel in after one meeting.3 points

What an awful poster this is. It’s 2023 and people are still running with the “no brakes no fear, fun for all the family” line. Why not go the whole hog and advertise the opening match of the season with two guests too?3 points

For goodness sake, everyone calm down. One meeting in and it's gone nuclear...2 points

If I was Michael then everyone would know about it via a statement on the clubs website because I wouldn't sit back and take the bullet for someone else's decisions. I'd go full on Antonio Conte mode.2 points

I never said he couldn't,I just said he struggled with the 3rd bend at times and when he fell it was more often than not on the third bend. Anyways we've got speedway back so let's enjoy it and hope the all riders stay safe.2 points

Work than less than half a mile from the stadium and weather still fine. A bit overcast, but no more than it has been all day.2 points

Raised the question of why must the highest average ride at 1? Shane rode at 3 and 5 vast majority of his time in the stripes, I believe he hated riding at 1 memory serves. Yes it means top riders clash in heat one but given best racing occurs generally later in the meeting is this best time for them to clash?2 points

I am honestly not Scunny bashing, I usually attend as an away supporter when Redcar are in town and your club definitely need a ring master. Roy Clarke does a fantastic job for the Bears just as he did for the Diamonds. He is the type of character Scunthorpe need with his mixture of Speedway knowledge and humour. Your announcer is probably a very nice guy and his voice is a dead ringer for Jonny Vegas but sadly without the wise cracks. Honestly there is an atmosphere at Redcar that draws people in everyone is so friendly fom the guy in the car park to the promoters and owners and if all of that could be replicated at Scunthorpe your fans would love it !! After all you have a great track and great facilities.2 points

Really enjoyed that, the racing improved after a slow start. A fair bit of rustiness on show but a competitive meeting with the cream rising to the top in the later stages. Always a great speedway experience and night out at the NSS.2 points

All too often in British Speedway, you hear reports of tracks not being up to scratch at the beginning of a meeting and riders unhappy with conditions - whether this be poor prep, weather conditions or any other factors. I notice from today’s match at Redcar, riders were given a chance to spend 1 minute out of track according to speedway updates. Before the start of every league match in Poland, every team can nominate 2 riders to go out on track to check out track conditions etc. Why are we not doing this over here? This can help to eliminate a whole host of potential issues on the horizon (like Peterborough the last week with heat 1 and riders not being happy with the exit to turn 2) and give riders a chance to get on track before heat 1. This adds abit of a tactical element too - do you send out your experienced guys to pass on knowledge or send out a junior to get some much needed track time before their first ride? There is no shame in following in the Poles footsteps if it helps to solve problems and benefits the beginning of meetings. How often do we see matches where the first 4 heats are follow the leader around the inside until the track starts to bed in and dirt moves wider? This one seems abit of a non brainer to me and can only be a good thing.1 point

I’m not sure it’s Grudziadz who are pulling the strings here - I think the rider himself may of seen enough on opening night to do half a lap and call it quits!1 point

I think those who where hanging off every word from the used car salesman where always gonna be let down sooner rather than later, let’s just focus on the team we have. Kings Lynn got pumped the other night and they aren’t in meltdown, one swallow doesn’t make a summer1 point

World Championship Qualifying Round 1974, Swindon I was 14 at the time, and a fanatical fan, so much so, that I used to walk from the centre of Swindon (not far from the Magic Roundabout, and the hallowed turf that is the County Ground) all the way to the Abbey and back again. A round trip of about 9 miles according to Mr Google. My morning paper round (up at 5:30 every morning) didn’t give me enough cash to get the bus and get into the Abbey stadium, so something had to give. I seem to recall it was only drizzling when I set off, but by the time I got there it was hammering it down. Everybody, bar one fanatical fan, was under cover. I was up by the pits (on the cheap side of the Stadium, they opened a gate at half time so you could stand by the main stand), watching all the riders, warming their bikes up discussing the torrent that was submerging the track. The powers that be wanted to wait to see if the rain relented, it didn’t, and after about 30 minutes stood in isolation by the pits , it was off. My thinking was that I couldn’t get any wetter than I was, so I trudged off home, with my faithful programme clipboard with me. It was homemade chip board type of thing with a big bulldog clip. All it needed was a few stickers to brighten it up I thought. So, on my way home I must have passed countless shops and off licences. As the incessant rain kept everyone indoors, I thought I would “borrow” a few stickers that these shops displayed on their outside windows. After peeling off three I thought that would justify my completely sodden attire. My clipboard looked resplendent in these new colours, although I did have to sellotape them on, as they had lost their “sticky ness”. The other thing I got from this evening out was a severe case of man flu. Didn’t make the morning paper round all the next week and missed two days off school. So it was worth in the end……..1 point

Where’s all this come from ? Nicki committed to a full season and he said himself he’s not stopping yet.1 point

They obviously trying really hard to run it. Have my fingers crossed the rain misses or doesn't hit til 10pm.1 point

Met office still saying 90% chance of rain from 7-10pm. This is why having no tracks in Greater London sucks so much, such a trek for the risk of a rain off.1 point

Well that's got nothing to do with Oxford. It's down to Poole & Leicester to organise their inter-league challenge. Which can be fitted in whenever. Did preseason challenge meetings get rained off or did they not bother arranging them?1 point

Normal procedure at the late lamented Coventry was for both teams to bring out their bikes and be presented in front of the main stand. When the intros were over, they would all get on their bikes and do as many practice laps as they wanted until the CO (or later Colin Pratt) appeared on-track to signal the end of practice. Usually 5-10 minutes. Strictly no practice starts on the bends or the CO would have your wotsits for garters.1 point

“Yep exactly,if that was the riding order of ipswich, lions look good, shame it’s off as I was looking forward to the first meeting lions giving them witches a lesson to shut some of these forum warriors up“ This was your little rant on the other Leicester v Ipswich thread so you’re fooling nobody here Spidey old bean. oh, and if the Witches “all fire together” it won’t be a close one at all, it’ll be a thumping home win lol. Can’t see all the Witches firing in their first home meeting anyway so I actually think Leicester will make a decent fist of it. Witches by 6-10 if it goes ahead.1 point

Bullets begin their campaign this coming weekend. This from a comprehensive media briefing issued by the club: The new-look Berwick Bullets can call upon a wealth of inside knowledge during their weekend road trip to Belle Vue and Leicester. Their third season in the National Development League begins with a Good Friday trip to the National Speedway Stadium (1pm) followed by Saturday evening’s clash with 2022 and 2019 double winners Leicester Lion Cubs in the east Midlands (7pm). It’s a challenging start for last year’s beaten play-off semi-finalists but the GHT Bullets, powered by STS, can call on the experience of teenager Archie Freeman who returns to Manchester following a successful 2022 in Colts’ colours while Josh Embleton was a member of that 2019 Leicester double-winning side. A third new signing, Connor Coles, rode for Leicester in their all-conquering 2022 campaign and also enjoyed a year with the Colts while Jamie Halder was a member of the Coventry side was based at the east Midlands circuit in 2018 and was named in the 2021 Cubs’ side only to miss the whole season after suffering a broken ankle in a fall at his home while the fifth new signing, Danny Phillips, rode for Belle Vue in 2019. “You couldn’t have asked for two tougher opening fixtures,” Embleton admitted. “Having said that the 2023 Bullets are probably less experienced around our home circuit than on some of the away tracks, especially Leicester, where four of us have spent some time. “I jumped at the chance to sign for Berwick and even with just the press and practice and launch night behind us you can feel that there is a really good buzz about the Bullets. “Having raced against them I know just how much help and support the management and riders give each other and I’m looking forward to having the advantage of that guidance.” Embleton’s preparations for the new season were given a £500 boost last weekend thanks to a generous donation towards his costs by the Newcastle Speedway Supporters Association. “That was a really nice surprise,” Embleton admitted. “They might not have their own team to follow this season but are still looking to support the city’s riders and I am very grateful for that backing.” Freeman, who like Embleton is Newcastle-born, added: “Belle Vue is seen around the world as one of the best speedway racetracks and I really enjoyed my season with them last year. “But the opportunity to join Berwick was a real no-brainer. There’s a really good mix of experience and potential in the team and this is going to be a really good opportunity to get the season off to a flying start. Like the Bullets both of this week’s opponents have brought in new faces for the 2023 campaign. Jack Smith, son of multiple British Champion Andy, and highly-rated teenager Freddy Hodder are joined by 2022 Oxford man Sam Hagon and Australian-Brit Matt Marson and Luke Muff from Mildenhall while British Speedway Network pundit Paul Bowen has come out of retirement. Belle Vue have also taken advantage of new rules allowing teams to track one Commonwealth rider this season by naming asset James Pearson – who will also race for Birmingham in the Championship – in the seven. Defending champs Leicester are again built around the Thompson twins, Dan and Joe, and have a very youthful look with Vinnie Foord and Max Perry also returning to the fold while a pair of 17-year olds, Max James and Norfolk whizz-kid Ashton Boughen are handed regular team places. “Look around the league and there are no weak teams,” added Jedburgh-based Bullets skipper Greg Blair, who along with Berwick-born Mason Watson is the only other surviving member of that 2022 Bullets squad. “The focus is on developing riders for the Championship and Premiership and there is no better way that making every ride in every meeting competitive. “It’s been a long time since we were together as a team – more so for me as I couldn’t ride in the play-off at Mildenhall due to suffering dizzy spells. “I think that most people know that my links to Berwick stretch right back to my great-grandparents Danny and Liz Taylor, who brought the sport here in 1968 and it will be something special to lead a Berwick team out as captain. “But we’re not here just to take part. We plan to make a serious statement to the rest of the league this weekend. With the new scoring system this season it is important to battle for every point and look to collect aggregate bonus points as well as meeting wins.”1 point

Bit deceiving really as Tai and Robert still have represented GB in speedway cup of Nations and assume the will in the world cup. So I would assume Bewley, Tai and Robert are GB's 1, 2 and 3?1 point

Promoters will be worried about home track advantage being reduced. Poole have always had practice laps after the parade. Actually only time they might not is dodgy weather.1 point
-
With majority of the boys not having had any track time and no laps round Armadale till they get to the tapes on Friday with practice being off I think track time and race rust might be a factor in the outcome of the result. Think it’ll be close, think either could win this by around 2/4 points.1 point

3 of us made a 2 hour journey we wouldn't have done without the returning riders. It's obvious better riders better racing. Monmore gets a lot of criticism but when all the top riders were here the racing was fantastic1 point

For all the moans on why crowds have dropped its always been quite clear to me that the main ireason s that the standard of rider has . The most stupid thing I kept hearing on here is that we don't need top riders. What other sport would work like that. If Emil or Nicki are riding at my local track I'm going its as simple as that. .1 point
