  1. Think you are the only one that can interpret that post as gloating. Its actually a sad indictment regards to yourself that you can come to that conclusion.

  2. Scunthorpe is run by Rob Godfrey, chairman of the BSPL who have done everything to make this as difficult as possible for Barry and Martin. I understand your sentiment though, I’ve stopped attending BSPL/SCB events and save my money to go to as many on the Island as possible. This latest ‘stunt’ is quite disgusting. How on earth has Si Kellow landed a fine when he’s had nothing to do with this NORA league, all he’s guilty of doing is leasing the same track that Barry did for his event. There’s no other way now than for some other UK promoters to be brave and pull out of the SCB league next year altogether and join the NORA league with the IOW and run meetings for the fans like the good old days we all remember and enjoyed. Lets hope Sittingbourne and a few others can be tempted. Keep going Barry, there are hundreds of us that applaud and support you. Don’t let them grind you down

  4. Just a side note to the meeting, looked really a bit shoddy and unprofessional Douglas not being provided with a Kings Lynn race jacket or shirt as a guest, just a duct taped number 5 in his back

  5. Some British fans seem to believe that it's a god given right that all British under 21 riders be in all competitions such as this, no mater how good or bad they are compared to other nations under 21 riders. Who is this Norwegian guy? They say, he must be awful because he's from a country not known for developing speedway riders, must replace him with *insert random British rider who happens to be under the age of 21 here* because clearly all Brits are far superior to everyone else. If they actually took the time to study the under 24 league in Poland, they'd realize just how far the likes of Tom Brennan and Leon Flint need to go to start pushing for places in these types of competitions... I would say on European tracks (Polish tracks) our best hope is actually Anders Rowe, which is why I think it's sensible that the likes of Drew Kemp are chosing to ride Poland over Britain, that is the way to make a name for yourself in the sport these days unfortunately.

  6. If he is injured, and has received treatment or is taking anything - perhaps even advised a rest, don't see the issue with Worrall taking a short holiday, most families have to sacrifice during the season for speedway, if he has had some R&R and comes back firing then happy days

  7. Vadim Tarasenko has just confirmed on Polish TV he is coming to Peterborough soon. My prediction June 1.

  8. They use covers - but if you watch how they put the covers down each week after they have been folded up from the previous week, they turn them upside down, thus depositing all the shale from the previous week onto the dog track to leave a clean surface on top You just can't make it up

  9. To be honest buddy, I fell out of love with speedway years ago. I got fed up with our riders getting injured riding for someone else, leaving us having to use guests or R/R. I came back to the sport after covid to experience it’s now even worse, with everyone pretty much doubling up. I’m just enjoying the Brummies while they are around, if they close I won’t miss speedway. The sport has really lost its spark.

  10. Not sure if we were brilliant or KL crap. Maybe abit of both? Klindt and MPT were trying their hardest. Edwards great ride in heat 4 held his nerve well against a fast Musielak. Holder level above everyone else tonight looked ridiculously fast. So good to see Ellis back at it genuinely looked much smoother, Bellego must be sore was a bad one that. shout out to Dan Gilkes, classy tonight rode well and attacked the track. Can see him only getting better and better

  12. Well I didn’t expect that result after last week but very happy from a Bears point of view, much better team effort. Every Bears rider paid for a win and Hume, Mulford and particularly Bailey rode with a determination we hadn’t seen before. 10 points from the bottom 4 last week, 23 paid 26 this week, makes a massive difference. For Glasgow, Basso is spectacular to watch (superb race with Wright) and Pijper looks a cracking young prospect but Harris had a poor meeting and they lacked the second string depth that Poole showed last week. Some great races, much better meeting than last week. Bears have given themselves a good chance but Glasgow are formidable at home and we will need a good performance to go through.

  14. Enjoyed that albeit not the result we wanted but a very good meeting. Redcar have a great setup down there. Well done too the Bears they were very good and well we weren’t , tall order to claw that back but you never know.

  17. Sensible signing to bring in Dan T. I only wonder why it's not a permanent change? Dan had a better average than Stefan last year, plus Stefan hasn't been on form this year.

  18. Pretty sure Paco doesn't trek bikes backwards and forwards between Italy and here every other week! He'll have bikes that he only uses here. Doesn't really answer the question of why he he couldn't of ridden tonight.

  19. Dan Thompson signed as injury cover for Nielsen :- BIRMINGHAM have signed talented teen Dan Thompson as a 28-day injury replacement for Stefan Nielsen. The 19-year-old joins twin brother Joe in the Curtis Sport Brummies’ line-up – who was also snapped up by the Club earlier this month. Nielsen crashed in the recent win at Plymouth and suffered a broken foot. He visited a fracture clinic on Thursday and was told his foot is showing small signs of healing and that no surgery will be required. However, he is facing, approximately, at least another month on the sidelines, forcing Brummies bosses to make their move. Former British Youth Champion Dan Thompson is the rider they have turned to – and team manager Laurence Rogers is backing him to make an impact. “Dan is really, really unfortunate not to have started the season with a team spot in the Championship,” he said. “It’s only the good old Speedway numbers game that forced him out of teams plans I would say due to the fantastic year he had with Leicester in 2022. “He’s come such a long way over the past couple of seasons and this is a big opportunity for him. “It’s a chance for him to come in, hit the ground running and remind everyone just how good he can be at this level - hopefully he can give us a nice little headache! “Stef is doing okay and the news he got from the fracture clinic on Thursday was probably the best he could have hoped for under the circumstances. “We had to sign an injury replacement to cover him in the meantime and we, of course, wish Stef a speedy recovery.”

  20. Not sure Connor at reserve is the answer. He didn’t always look very comfortable when riding at the AFA. Craig Cook would be my choice as he’s capable of winning races home and away. Again it all depends on his mindset but if we could get him in at reserve, that would make us stronger than Connor imho.

  23. Doesn't seem right to be able to drop and replace 2 riders and retain the r/r facility when 1 of those being dropped would fit in that last slot....... Another example of why speedway isn't taken seriously as top line professional sport

  25. Given the demise of hundreds of magazines these days I think speedway is lucky to have a quality magazine out there , regardless of paper quality etc....costs must be high for the return in this online era so fair play to them

  27. I am not going to another speedway meeting in Britain ever again, this is absolutely disgusting and I can't support it. If I want my speedway fix I will go watch the amateur meetings at Scunthorpe or go to Denmark. Absolutely sickening and unless it's changed, the SCB can forget my custom. I hope others follow suit until the SCB pull their heads out of their arse at least. I will keep an eye out for any future NORA events and I can guarantee I will be in attendance.

  30. Just cover the straights and leave the bends. If the dogs can build up enough speed on the straights they could be trained to lean and slide the bends (they’re clever creatures you know)…….I’ll get my coat.

  34. Funny Tom Brennan can ride for Glasgow tonight yet Paco cannot make Armadale when they're in the same SGP qualifier at Lonigo tomorrow. Kye down for R/R makes Edinburgh vulnerable, especially if Douglas keeps winning races. Maybe Max Clegg can get in amongst the points tonight

  37. I didn't think you could regain the 28 days for a recurring injury to the same rider. In the same way that, had he been in the main body last night we wouldn't have been allowed IRR either. The injury would have to be completely separate from a previous injury. May have just made that all up to be fair
    1 point
  38. But he’s not fit - could be a BWD case again - both with shoulder injuries I believe. Look how long that took!

  39. After last week's mauling I would gladly take that !!

  40. If Pickering goes to fifth in the averages then he needs replacing even iffir just 28 days as R/R won't cover him at all. Mountain and Laguta for KK and Jorgensen would be good changes. I get the argument about winning at home not away but it would be nice to at least be competitive on the road.

  41. But who would've guessed James Wright would have returned after a few years out or Lee Complin after an even longer retirement? Plus there's riders like Rory Schlein & Aaron Summers who had very short retirements. You go ahead & keep guessing @Ryan555

  43. That’s Ipswich, helmet too tight? So close next time for the lions, Morris off nite, cup not won in May ,lions gathering momentum
    1 point
  44. Only followed the updates, but it seems that the Lions can hold their heads up tonight. Fewer last places than Ipswich, but when scores are tight, they will almost always outscore the opposition (home or away) in heats 13 to 15. R/R yielded 9 points, so can’t really use that as an excuse for Lawson’s absence. At the start of the season the gaffer said that Sedgmen and Allen would be jockeying for a reserve berth. The way Justin ‘Sedgsation’ (cheesy I know, but tabloid journalists make a living conjuring up such crap) is going, he’s more likely to be troubling the third heat leader slot.

  46. Okay, thanks! Find out in July! Prob best to put Basso at 5 at Poole though. Speak for yourself, I'm fine with it. Though @Gazc is another level, but just about got used to that one!

  47. Really? You or he may not be aware, but we’re living in a cost of living crisis where people are struggling to pay their bills and put food on the table. 20 odd quid maybe peanuts to some, but for others it’s a lot to fork out every other week. There’ll be die hard supporters out there who live for their speedway, who will make sacrifices and go without certain things to go and support their club and then you get absolute pr!cks like Johnson talking down to those people like they’re something he’s stepped in!? Thick as pig sh!t is being kind!! Look at the dross the supporters have been dished up with this year I’d say they’re more than entitled to voice their disapproval without have to clean the ‘kin bogs and put up the air fences!

  49. Brayden came over from his base in Denmark for the day and certainly showed his class as befits a 22 year old rider competing in Poland - well done to Barry to get him over at such short notice to replace Henry Atkins. It's always great to see new riders. The other late substitute was Luke Harris who replaced Jake Turner, and he ended up topping the Plymouth scoresheet! Not bad for a lad who I believe mainly rides on the grass nowadays. I've always loved the fours format and congratulations to Barry Bishop and his team for overcoming all the obstacles to get his show up and running. Hopefully he can grow this concept from this beginning. One issue he has is that team speedway depends on fans getting behind their team, and that can only grow in time - especially where yesterdays teams largely had no connection. One question to Barry - are the same riders likely to ride in every meeting? Well done to all those volunteers who got yesterday meeting on. A special mention to the track staff - on such a sunny, windy day, it could have been a dust bowl - it wasn't.
