Hi guys Barry ayres here lol think I’m being picked on a bit aha pc is a legend I’m gona get his Book let me clarify a few things - I didn’t make it some of you are saying !- I agree a bit but what is the general thing about not making it ? - not being world champion is that what not making is ? I made a decision to quit in 1986 after a bad injury arm and broken shoulder wrist elbow while riding for Belle vue at Sheffield, also in 1984 I broke several vertabrea in my back I had my share with injury but made a recovery ti ride in British British junior league in 1985 and had one of the highest avges in that league riding away in 1985 we visited Oxford Cowley 3 times I had 9 races and was unbeaten their in the 9 races infact my only regret was to not sighn for oxford as Simon wigg the very same day I sighned for Bellevue aces was on the telephone to Stuart bamforth wanting me to sighn for Oxford but by that time I had sighned for Bellevue the very same day - stuart bamforth did not tell me this - naturaly I was not exactly happy but decided just to go along with it anyway I’m sure some of the old timers may even remember this as stuart bamforth announced it at the signing day at Hyde rd but yes it is my biggest regret in speedway - Belle vue first meeting away at Wolverhampton in 1986 I had a good meeting I think I scored 7 plus point infact I beat Sam ermolenko thst night also - after thst meeting yes I had my moments but I did find the going tough the team spirit thst year at belle vue was not great either just the way it was - I myself made the decision to quit as I knew I either wanted to be very good or not bother I had offers in 1987 from some second div clubs but decided it was not for me my decision no one else’s ,,I’ve made another succesfull career now as a gas engineer / powerflushing company — you guys need to understand that speedway is a very tough sport as riders we do make sacrifices because we love the sport but this sport can also tear you apart and demoralise you you got to be tough mentally it’s not easy - in 2019 I started to ride again yes as an old man and I won the British veteran championship at lydd in Kent it was fun yes how it shoud be - and yes why not let ex riders in for free not matter how they did I probably go twice a year now to belle vue it’s not like I’m gona go every week anyway their more to life than speedway - But we still did put our knecks on the line for this club and the fans we are not going to bankrupt it are we ! But until you put your backside on a speedway bike hammer down the straight at Bellevue Hyde rd 70 mph and put it in the corner please don’t say to us we did not make it just because we were not the pc,s of the world if we rode for Belle vue or any other team for that matter despite the politics as far as I’m concerned and this is all ability’s even the guys practicing on a Monday night at belle vue Hyde rd on that concrete slick track who never even made a team place - we made it thank you Barry ayres - Belle vues number 6 1986 British laydown vets champion 2019 taking it easy 2023 but you never know .

Big night ahead for us as we attempt to restore our dignity after living with the humiliation as the only visiting Championship side to lose at Armadale this season . That blight on our reputation has to be eradicated if our title ambitions are to be taken seriously . Hopefully we can put the new look Monarchs to the sword . I see they have moved the Italian porn star's race from heat 14 to heat 8 , that should ease the impact if its a close meeting . Hopefully the new Dane is of the Peter Juul variety and having a collie dog and a 57 year old Aussie prospect at reserve has a negligible effect . So we go along the M8 with hope on Friday evening of maintaining our 100% start to the league campaign

You’re right of course, but it isn’t a surprise seeing as the Peterborough supporters have been kept in the dark over just about everything all winter and probably long before that. This is a general problem across the board in our sport although Peterborough seems an extreme case. Communication between the club(s) and its paying punters should be far far better than it is.

Saturday's meeting against Mildenhall was a bit unusual re wind direction. The meeting started with a fairly stiff north westerly wind with any dust blowing from that direction then partbway through the meeting it switched round to a south westerly and blew any dust the other way . By the time the British Junior Championship got underway on Sunday the wind direction was back to north westerly. To be fair dust levels were fairly minimal on Sunday. Looking forward to another close meeting especially after watching Ashton Boughen tear round the track in the British U21's and Junior 500 class recently. Sure Steve Lawson will try everything that is within his control to minimise dust levels . It hasn't rained in Worky since i came back from holiday on 29th April which is unusual in itself.

An update: my wife's interested colleague has managed to sort out her domestic issue therefore does not have to return home. So, they're going together tomorrow. The colleague is "very excited" about the prospect of watching speedway for the first time. And who wouldn't be? You do wonder! On that basis, you'd never try anything new.

Just got back in Poole deserved winners in my eyes I can’t fault Plymouth’s efforts tonight but any team what has Newman at reserve and fair play Poole have a very good team deserve there success I’m not going to rant and rave about referees what’s the point. Poole are definitely the team for all to beat this season and apart from stating the obvious anyone who does deserve to win the league.I’m just glad after Tommorow we won’t have to meet you guys again this season.because I’d like one more home win before the end of the season.

They always pull out a result though,it doesn’t matter who scores the points on the night.That’s the reason they kept the Cooks.

The Poole 'masterchefs' whacking in their 2nd 5-1.

I never quite get the grief he gets. Last year was his first year away from Birmingham and in the main body of the side. This being his 2nd season you’d expect him to improve which he has with his average going up. Think it’s more frustration with him than anything as he’ll go out and beat the opposition number 1 one race and get beat by their reserve in their next. Lack of consistency his main issue.

I know its a bit outrageous but could also try putting some shale down !!

There is no doubt Danny king has been a brilliant loyal member of the team for many years. Also a lovely guy and decent man but I think he needs a change of track. over the last couple of seasons I’ve really noticed in the pressure heats he seems to crumble. This is also true at championship level too. I thought this season with another top rider where he wouldn’t get heat 13 or 15 would help him for a rider of his experience I find his riding lines strange. Heat 3 at foxhall he rides the outside by the fence and get easily passed by both Leicester riders. His gating has been good but he get passed repeatedly and easily. it baffles me how opposing riders sail past with no attempt to block them yet a team maté regularly gets impeded by him. He never ever looks for his partner or attempts to team ride either. maybe like Lewis Kerr he has just got stale and would benefit greatly from a move away.

I would suggest that Kings Lynn losing Josh Pickering about a day after averages changed meaning he went to reserve, due to injury whilst riding for Edinburgh, is pretty unlucky and unfortunate!

Impressed with Celina around Workington. yesterday and well done to all riders who took part from the little ones to the older guys some of which had NDL team places . All good experience and track time . Thank you to Northside Arena for hosting the championship .

It's the second tough home test for the Stars in a row at this Thursday. Considering it was his first time on track, Artem did OK in his first meeting last week against Holder, Toby, and Co. This week he isn't going to get it any easier with Bewley and Kurtz in town. But I'm confident he will put up a great show, now he has had a meeting under his belt. But he will need plenty of support from his team mates, unlike last time out, if the Stars are going to get anything from this meeting. Dan and Brady are enough, but then you've got Wright who is averaging 8.60 away from the NSS so far this season, and Lidsey who is going well, not forgetting Blodorn at reserve. Time for Messrs, TJ, Nicolai, Freddy, and MPT to step up to the plate and give Artem some much needed support come Thursday. Thoughts, predictions anyone ?

Great performance from the engine room of the team yet again. Cooks and Newman absolutely riding above there current averages. Concern for Lawson and his injury surely it would make sense for him to take some time off as currently a shadow of the rider last year. Worrall again is a concern but on the plus side, the way it’s going he will be at reserve maybe.

Surely you look how they do at all tracks and then decide. But silly to decide at just one track! How do you be winning most of the meeting and 'be struggling' i don't get that. The Poole team is built for most of them to get 6+ a meeting.

What do you mean not doing well, we just won away from home at Plymouth. Zach was on top form , overall a good team performance.i thought the ref let one or two starts go that could have been called back and Turner could of been excluded in heat 14 .

I can't see past a BV win either. Hope I'm wrong. We need to see some fight from the rest of the team this week and that was sadly lacking last week. I'd almost settle for a (small) defeat if we saw some decent racing....

Outrageous refereeing tonight. Especially heat 11, 12 and 14.

My wife is away working in Birmingham this week with a bunch of fellow lawyers. She likes an occasional outing to speedway and plans to watch this match. She had hoped to persuade some of her colleagues to join her. The only one who was keen, who likes Moto X and whose husband watches speedway, can no longer attend because, in her husband's unexpected absence, she has to dash a hundred miles home to sort out a domestic matter. I'm told none of my wife's other colleagues - 10 of them! - have any idea what speedway is, and back-heeled the idea of going to Perry Barr in favour of yet another evening eating in a Birmingham city centre restaurant. Says a lot about speedway's profile now. Quite often, I meet people - especially twenty and thirty somethings - who haven't ever heard of speedway. Still, one more on the crowd tomorrow!

Decent replacement for the reserve position.

Here's one. Barry Ayres rode 12 matches for the Aces in 1986 (18 in all, 1984-86). Ove Fundin rode 12 matches for the Aces in 1967. Could you imagine supporters requesting that Mr Fundin should pay to get in and queue up with other fans at the admission gate? No? So why are the likes of Barry Ayres any different?

Aye it's the Premiership "rising star" I'm thinking about.

Hi BB. Saw BV last night against the Witches and they were rampant. Also watched KL last week v Sheffield on BSN and several of their riders went missing. To be honest, can't see anything but a BV win but I really hope KL do eventually get their act together. Alex Brady has gone out on a limb with the Laguta signing and deserves some success so good luck to him and the team.

Glad we’ve also changed the riding order. Fresh start so to speak. Paco now at 2 and kye at 4. Bastian slotting in at number 3. Makes us strong in heat 8 with paco and lasse. And a strong finish with the big 2 in 13, kye and probably lasse in 14 and again strong pairing in 15.

He was signed mainly because of his low average,which he has maintained.

I'm glad to see that the Edinburgh management weren't afraid to make changes when the had to but i still feel sorry for Hooky and Kyle. If anyone was in line to be dropped it was Paco as he has been dreadful this year (except when he's competing to get into the GP's...)

Barry, there are too many armchair speedway world champions on the BSF. Don't worry what they say. I remember your career, and your name has already gone down in the sport's and, indeed, Belle Vue's history, no matter how many points you scored. I look up to all you guys... in fact, more than the high rankers.

Hans Nielsen surely must be up there with the best in the 80's / 90's ? He was usually so sharp away from the gate

Personally I would be trying to sign a couple of like Berntzon and Kvech,,, or any of wealth of young talent. Okay it may not win us the league this year,, but will reap rewards in the future,,, just look at Belle Vue,,, Bewley,,, Lidsey,, Blodorn, Brennan,,,, all only gonna get better and better

Ritchie confirmed as guest and wood also riding on Friday. Fully expect him to only be taking 3 rides.

Ipswich have been unlucky though, Lynn haven’t. When building teams with top end power and weak bottom ends you suffer badly when running rider replacement for a second string when that bottom end then has to take 10 rides between them. Losing a rider to injury isn’t unexpected in this sport, but losing one to illness is terribly unlucky whichever way you slice it. Barker is now a better alternative to R/R but he’s a 4 and half pointer replacing a 6 pointer so isn’t the long term answer either. Jack Thomas at rising star looks an even bigger miss the longer the season goes on!

you might as well be asking for 1 off world finals.

In this case it's the clubs choosing to go with riders who might be out of their depth, can't blame the ruling when there are stronger, more experienced riders not being used! There are also success stories like Brennan, Hume & Mountain having good seasons in 2022. But it shows how the promoter's need to be "forced" into including Brits, as one of the best "rising stars" Connor Mountain hasn't got a team spot this year. Another advantage of the ruling is Jordan Jenkins improved form this year, without the RS rules he'd have been dropped for a 4.00 foreigner once Peterborough kept losing!

Unfortunately Caydin Martin withdrew with a broken wrist. Didn't get the paperwork until late so too late to announce.

Watched hm many times race with and against Dan Bewley when in their very early years... Never looked off Dan's pace and, a fair few times, was actually quicker... Dan, as we know, is a "generational talent" so the ability must be in there for Bickley... I hope Dan's subsequent success hasn't in some way impacted his own ambitions... Plenty of riders make a good living by not being World Class... Very, very few, in the grand scheme of things ever get there as, by definition, it is a small percentage that do... Best of luck to the lad...

The fact that MPT who’s effectively a second string/reserve standard is at number 5 basically sums kings Lynn up for me.
