PC had no involvement whatsoever with the development of promotion of the NSS. The 100+ names “demanded” were ex-riders, occasional sponsors (of him) and friends and acquaintances with no involvement with PC. There was never any suggestion of bringing along potential future sponsors. It was pointed out to him that any former Belle Vue rider would be welcomed - all they had to do was call in advance. As a former promoter, my stance would be the same. Any former rider of a team in which I was involved would welcome past riders wishing to attend. Sometimes, we’d ask that they agree to be interviewed or make themselves available to meet supporters. If any former rider wanted to attend every meeting, a financial arrangement would probably be reached, As a former promoter, I have had personal invitations to attend several tracks, (something I can rately take up) but I wouldn’t expect to attend free of charge every meeting at one track.6 points

As a bystander, I can't help feeling you've got a personal spite against a very hard-working, steeped-in-speedway, club official.5 points

While that might be true , watch the next two Fridays . We will have a couple of hundred on the 3rd and 4th bend on Friday night , the following Friday there might be 50 or so Monarchs fans at our place , depending on Friday's result . Days of fans travelling any distance for an away meeting are just about priced out of the equation . If we have any ambition to go with the money spent , its time we were riding against the likes of Belle Vue , Ipswich ,Kings Lynn etc3 points

Ignoring the play off semi final at the end of 2022 this is usually a close run affair. Master, Worrall and Douglas all know the fastest way around Owlerton and if it’s on the slick side then Schlein will be up there too, Becker always been a bit hit and miss but an easily get 5-7 points. Think it’s Cook’s first time in track so will take a ride or two to get dialled in but he’s seen the place plenty of time when spannering for Holder in early 2022. Flint can pop out and liking the bigger track isn’t scared of using the high dirt line. As for the home side, Musielak and Holder are usually good for 10+ points each, a lot will depend on Ellis and Bellego as both have been pretty poor so far (exception being the Lynn whipping 2 weeks ago) Ellis has looked slow even if he pops out of the start he’s always looking behind so must feel the lack of speed and Bellego has ridden very hesitant so far like a mix of Batchelor and Craig Cook when not committing to tough first bends etc, Kerr has rode very consistently all season and similar to when he was at reserve there’s the added bonus of having Howarth down there who again can get 4-7 rides depending on others performance, Gilkes has picked up good points and learning every race I’ll go for a home win, not an annihilation like the home match last time out v King’s Lynn but something around 50-40 mark2 points

Just what do you expect of Danny King? His GSA has increased from 6.41 to 6.79. The problem with the Witches team lies elsewhere, namely……. 1) not adequately replacing Riss. 2) the form of your RS2 points

No idea but there must be three riders out there who can do better than 3's and 4's2 points

The problem for me is the People running the sport are in denial and seem to the sport is in good health. The sport needs a major revamp IMO.2 points

Don't know why Alex Brady bothered breaking the bank for Artem considering the state the rest of the team is in. Jakobsen and Klindt are taking the mickey now, TJ is just bad.2 points

I'd certainly echo what Crescent Girl has said. In all my years watching speedway, I have never known anyone more passionate about the sport than Laurence Rogers. That doesn't necessarily make him a good team manager, but I can remember a few years ago Wolverhampton fans turning their ire on Peter Adams after a string of rubbish performances and a poor final league position. Adams was - and remains - the most successful in top flight speedway's history. I don't think that this is a matter of spite, but it is a matter of looking for someone to blame for Birmingham's disastrous on track performances over the last couple of seasons - in other words, a scapegoat. What you seem to believe is that if he left and the 'inept buffoon' was replaced by someone apparently more competent on track performances would dramatically improve. Looking through the 2023 predictions thread, most have Birmingham bottom and none have them in a play off spot. That means the team is poor - which it clearly is - and therefore whoever comes in is extremely unlikely to turn things around without significant changes. Booting Rogers out, then, will almost certainly make very little difference. I am not aware how much say Laurence Rogers had in building the team, but given a reported £250k loss last year even if he was wholly responsible it is more than likely that his hands - not unreasonably - were significantly tied in terms of the budget for the team. Blaming him - and only him - for Birmingham's present form seems to me, then, to be totally unsupported by the actual circumstances in existence.2 points

As has already been said on this thread, Alex Brady is in charge of all the finances at Lynn and he has obviously paid to do deal for Laguta. However , at Peterborough the finances and control remain firmly in the hands of Chapman, who is clearly working on a much lower budget. You can see this by the fact that we are having trouble affording Tungate, never mind somebody like Laguta2 points

The final sentence is pretty much spot on The Venue, Traffic, but in my case it's more to do with the Team, this Team is built all wrong and most people could see this from the word go, except for a certain few who really should have known better.2 points

I think you will find that a fair few Cradley fans attend both Birmingham and Wolves. There numbers are dwindling but I'm pretty sure the low Brummies attendances include a fair few floating fans from Cradley and a few from Wolves. The fact is Perry Barr isn't a great venue for watching speedway, traffic is also an issue and I guess the poor team adds the finishing touch.2 points

From what I read, it was about the top promoters not wanting to split their pot of gold from the tv receipts.2 points

If Tungate's move doesn't happen then the entire blame lies with Tomalin, You can't promise the world, Only to deliver nothing and then get a free pass for it 24/7 because we've gone through this song and dance twice already this season (Zagar & Laguta) so the warning signs are there. I'll never be Buster's biggest fan (Far from it) and he's done a lot of things wrong throughout the years but he wasn't the one who was piping up during the winter making us out to be the Manchester City of British Speedway.2 points

And the Thompson's might still be riding (and Scott Nicholls could guest for Poole)2 points

They rode well. My comment was it won't be easy for second strings & reserves to score well. The fact you found two names from 8 matches proves my point lol!2 points

The team was always top heavy to accomodate the no 1 we lacked under the Masons and since Nigel Tolley arrived. Unfortunately we've got a No 1 who is for some reason riding like a Number 4, he's certainly not a Masters / Lawson type rider. Sedgeman has always been marmite, sadly it looks like his form and impact is tailing off in year 2 as it has done in the past. Pearson has improved but needs to be in a better team to continue that improvement and Bowtell is 100% but may be guilty of trying too hard on occasions to make up for deficiencies elsewhere. Very impressed with Jenkins and Atkins last night, 2 lads who've had stop start periods due to injury and being discarded by other Clubs somewhat inexplicably, both rode with real freedom and enjoyment and Oxford look to be getting things right. I can't fault the Masons nor Nigel for their hrd work and obviously both losing / lost shedloads to give us Speedway. I know the Oxford promotion have some money behind them, probably more than Masons and Tolley but they also seem to have a Stadium Landlord happy to help them rather than chastise and obstruct them. Frankly, I, and i know many others, have no expectation beyond the last meeting of this season, and that's nothing to do with the mamangement, the team or anything ON the track, purely down to (a) Stadium Owners (b) the fact that no one can expect successful but limited in terms of available cash businessmment to continue to pump in tens of thousands on the basis that their hearts have over-ruled their heads. If Oxford can attract average crowds of 1500 or more and 800 or more for NDL , why do we struggle to get 500 for CL, and last night only boosted by a sizable Oxford contingent. The answer to that may go back many years and lots of factors. One massive question though remains, that is WHY have we never been able to attract ex Coventry / Cradley fans to PB in the way that Oxford have attracted Swindon / Reading fans who make significantly longer trips inmidweek. It's not as if the much maligned (and unfairly on occasion in my opinion) Promoter / Manager hasn't done his utmost to attract Cradley / Coventry fans, but where are they??... If Wolves survive I may watch Speedway there, otherwise I'll make the not difficult trip down the M40 on occasions down to Oxford if PB does close on a few occasions and go to Leicester but sadly and it is sad, I cannot see any sustainable future for the Sport in the West Midlands unless CVS can pull a rabbit out of the hat!2 points

Next season I think we will see just two divisions, a “top” league and a “junior” level league and Plymouth will be in the latter, maybe just maybe that would allow them to hold Nora meetings too? That would probably be their ideal scenario. No pressure on having to be competitive with teams they can’t hold a candle too financially, just run the sport as a centre of development which is ideally what Iwade and Workington will be. South, South East and North West covered.2 points

Surely we're not gonna go down the "it's all Buster's fault" road again. Buster wouldn't agree a deal & take it away, something else would of had to change. Tungate asking more, or sponsors not putting in what they agreed etc?2 points

A bit strange Brady did Ht15 on Monday if injured.. Dan could have done it instead surely? Anyhow, a great chance for the Stars to win given Brady's consistency and capability nowadays.. Just a shame for the KL crowd they wont get to see him ride as he is becoming a real entertainer... A bit of an old fashioned throwback to when Captains rode hard and led from the front...1 point

Now Coventry have closed I tend to go and watch riders I like as opposed to teams, We went to Belle Vue last week to watch Emil and I'd scheduled several matches to watch Nicki P if he'd continued in the UK. The only thing that would encourage me to support another team properly would be I think if they tracked several Bees riders, so say Brum went in the Premiership with Scotty, Bomber, Rory, Smoli, KK, BB and Adam Roynon, I'd probably make more of an effort to attend matches to watch a team like that. But just the odd rider like Rooboy at Wolves isn't enough to get me there regulalrly.1 point

If they had been able to fit Alfie Bowtell back in the team at reserve 100% they would have been play off contenders.1 point

For that reason alone I would have kept KK (till he missed Sheffield away but rode in Poland the next day - I'm assuming he knew he was getting dropped, but still unprofessional imo)1 point

It was easy to predict. Both Turner and Trigger are no match for Newman and Roynon at reserve. To be fair Turner did give it a go and led Poole riders Roynon and Zach Cook in a couple of his heats but had no chance of retaining his position. Simply picked off. Trigger was always last out of the gate and tailed off. It really was one way traffic and must have been frustrating for the travelling Plymouth fans on the first bend. After 3 heats it was all over and but for a surprise 1-5 for Barker and Gilkes, only Richie Worrall put up any kind of resistance. Teams are all built to the same points limit but these two sides are really chalk and cheese. And what on earth has happened to Kyle Howarth? He has throughout his career always scored well at Wimborne Road but tonight he was appalling and a shadow of the rider he once was. Before a wheel had turned this year I fancied Plymouth to safely make the playoffs, but it’s looking unlikely. Morley might score ok at home but away? I see three issues which I are difficult for the Plymouth promotion to cross. The first smaller problem is location. It’s out on a limb and means lots of miles to get to every home meeting. Some might disagree. Clearly Richie Worrall does and drives down from the NE for every home meeting. The second is the track. Not an easy track and you have to be fast out of the traps otherwise you are chasing shadows. The third is crowd size. Last night there wasn’t a big crowd. Perhaps 5-600? Yes Poole again for the third time this season so the Plymouth fans are sick of the sight of us.The club has to be run on a very tight budget. Combine the three and it’s difficult to attract riders of a certain calibre. Yes I want my club to win but thrashings are boring. I want to see the opposition put up a good fight. And well done to Kyle Newman on a superb paid maximum tonight. He really is on great form.1 point

Watched tonight’s stream. What was LR thinking of when he wasted a tactical sub ride in heat 5 against the leagues best rider and not to even use his number one ! And ironically Sedgmen could have ridden anyway as R/R also not using R/R at 2 seems daft too and then using 4th top scorer in the nominated heat when he hasn’t ridden for 5 heats. Unbelievable1 point

An away win for BV 40-50, definitely needs the Lynn engine room to turn up if they have any chance of keeping this one close.1 point

I'd assume if took Paco's Birmingham meeting out the stats wouldn't look so rosy this year..and now he won't have heat 14 to win every week1 point

I think it’s because he is capable of much more, especially around Armadale.1 point

Big night ahead for us as we attempt to restore our dignity after living with the humiliation as the only visiting Championship side to lose at Armadale this season . That blight on our reputation has to be eradicated if our title ambitions are to be taken seriously . Hopefully we can put the new look Monarchs to the sword . I see they have moved the Italian porn star's race from heat 14 to heat 8 , that should ease the impact if its a close meeting . Hopefully the new Dane is of the Peter Juul variety and having a collie dog and a 57 year old Aussie prospect at reserve has a negligible effect . So we go along the M8 with hope on Friday evening of maintaining our 100% start to the league campaign1 point
