  3. I know of several Bandits fans that made the trip, spare a thought for them, not a nice journey for a promotion to do that, and they were apparently refused a refund on the night.

  4. Angry doesn’t describe how I’m feeling right now so I’ll be careful what I say but people behind me in the queue who were on holiday could not get there money back just a stamped ticket what good is that to them they asked the ladies in the booth to can they speak to the promoter they were told to go and find him.someone else asked for there money back was told the same or to email Plymouth gladiators when they asked for the email address the ladies didn’t no it absolutely heartbreaking to see the club I support becoming a laughing stock I don’t no nothing about track prep but I no we haven’t had rain since 11 this morning and that was drizzle not everyone can afford to just have a ticket stamped some people it comes out of there family budget and if they could have had there money back maybe they could do something else with there kids this week.

  6. Whatever the rights and wrongs of last night one thing is clear. Back in the 2 valve and upright era that Track would not be considered unsafe. Those days had no air fences and rain offs were far less prevelant. They'd put sawdust down and get on with it. Those were men not petaldicks, and they'd ride the bike and gear it according to the conditions. If they had a 2 wheel in and slide out for a few races they would. I've seen Mauger, Briggo, Collins, Olsen all do it, pictures of riders looking like they have just come from down the pit with only eyes visible were commonplace. Too many of this era can't ride bikes that rev too high and lack throttle control. Maybe the real reason they didn't want Barker to ride it was he'd have leg trailed round the fence and broken the track record. Time to consider the reason and not the cause. ..

  9. sometimes I think the public must take the blame, It's not like the start time is different. if you were to go to Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge & arrive at 15:05 you would expect to miss the kick off. why do speedway clubs hold on for these late comers when the stadium is waiting for the start at the advertised time

  10. Fair point BUT the damage the clown Chapman has inflicted on the sport due to his stupidity and incredible mismanagement and total lack of any business acumen at the BSPA is staggering and he has run the sport into the ground. He deserves no plaudits.

  12. oh dear, stop burying your head in the sand and open your eyes as to what is wrong with the Plymouth promotion

  13. You need too get down and tell Mark how to prepare the track with your expert scientific knowledge.

  14. Ruthless + shrewd judgement + business acumen generally gets it done. And a good dose of luck. Leicester since 2019 have generally had all of those, but Poole have been the masters of them for a long time any no-one else has got close - yet

  15. As a travelling fan I have occasionally asked for a refund. I have always got it, but it never ceases to amaze me how grudging, obstructive (and often rude), people have been. What exactly do they achieve other than increasing ill-will and discouraging visiting fans from returning? The only exception was Peter Toogood who was polite, cheerful and sympathetic when organising a refund on the spot.

  18. Allow me to clear this up once and for all. The most decorated British rider in terms of world championship honours is Peter Collins with ten. Tai has three. What may i ask is difficult to understand about that?. Three individual does in no way surpass ten combined, including a 1984 win with a team mate and fellow Mancunian. Tai bless him has won no other honours to boot.

  19. Never in my speedwaying life have I heard the phrase "thixotropic", with a now 23 year engineering background, every day appears to be a school day. On the "why's everyone complaining about it" People have paid a lot of money to get to the Speedway, spent a lot on accomodation food etc, paid to get in and sit there until 1945 (45 mins after tapes were scheduled to go up) and then had their evenings ruined. BSN have paid good money to get set up, sold streams, got the commentators in place, only to have to refund all the streams. How much money did they lose last night? If you go to a restaurant that's rubbish do you leave a good review, if you go to a theme park that's dog poop do you tell all your friends it was great?? No you don't you tell people the truth. Does any single person on here want Plymouth to close for 2024?? Of course they don't, but if you want to come to the party you have to BYOB and at the moment from the outside it looks like Plymouth have turned up with a plastic bag with some Tesco's value larger and a bag of everyday value mixed crisps.

  20. The wall of silence is not a good look from the club.

  21. Definitely should be it’s cheating the paying public and could cost Louis a fortune in a big home win and a poor crowd

  22. They are taking a long time in deciding to say they made a cock up of it.

  23. If it is ftg against the likes of Masters, Kerr and Nicholls then Poole will once again deserve the win!, the atmosphere will be electric and the large crowd will undoubtedly be thoroughly entertained!

  25. Averages mean diddly squat Mr Skidder, a #6 on a 5.3 is nowhere near a #2 on 5.3. It's based over 20 eligible meetings which means for those with a lengthy record (Roynon) need to bomb big style to get their average down. Ablitts average was generated by your lot using him as a sacrificial lamb, never giving him heat 8 and reserve switching his heat 12. So out of his 3 heats that he was allowed to do he faced the oppositions number 7......... Once. Bearing in mind he was one of very few 2 pointers racing last season. After what you did to him he didn't get a ride for 23 when every team was looking for a 2 pointer. Luckily he's at Scunthorpe and what i've seen of him on BSN and the u21's is far improved and the boys beaming with confidence.

  28. OK I'll bite. What are Poole supposed to do when Adam has a busted shoulder blade? Replacing a 3.67 reserve with a 2.13 guest, yes certainly 'at it again'!!

  29. Pathetic scenario. Plymouth should be operating in the third tier, their not a second tier club. If that is true about starting track prep an hour before the start, they should hang their heads in shame. Refunds should be immediately given out on exiting the stadium. Farce of a sport these days sadly, with clubs like this playing a big part in that.

  30. Because probably 90% of these people weren’t ever going to be attending anyway - therefore only ever creating additional income.

  31. Still very long odds. To win all the remaining fixtures is not likely. We’d already be safely in them without the Riss issue as we’ve lost a lot of tight meeting when he hasn’t contributed anything but that’s done and dusted now so no point going over it. He’s showing signs lately that he’s getting a bit of his old form back so if that continues, we’ll win the majority (not all) of our remaining meetings. Gonna be a case of “what if” this year unfortunately. A season having the best two riders in the league (one on a clearly bargain average) wasted.

  32. It's an extremely sad situation, for both sets of fans to be fair. These were the meetings we looked forward to when the fixtures came out. Buzzing for it. Roll on 20yrs it doesn't even feel like a derby. I know I've been moaning like a little b!+ch about King's Lynn for around 5yrs now but it's because I bloody care. Now many many more fans are finally seeing it. Our crowd levels have been evident of that. The situation at Peterborough my have opened the eyes of King's Lynn fans too with regards to our owner, could you imagine had he got Ipswich too The troubles at King's Lynn & fraudulent treatment of fans & other clubs this season in terms of dodgy call-offs & missing rider's make these fixtures meaningless. These threads should be banter central, forum fisty cuffs. It's just dead, great shame

  33. Why on earth do premiership teams use Sam Hagon - does he pay them to ride? Seriously, they can't think he'll beat anyone at this level so seems such a strange choice. What have I missed?

  34. They should have set fire to the track that would have solved everything

  35. There shouldn’t be a middle tier full stop. Most of these Championship teams can afford Premiership riders (hence this line up featuring 13 Premiership riders) so teams should be able to compete either at Premiership or National League standard. The Championship is the big problem for British Speedway with doubling up getting out of control. Premiership and National League with 6 rider teams is the way to go.

  37. How much money has been wasted, ambulance hire, BSN turning up and setting up, saw a few bandit fans so travel costs etc. How many of those that showed up and paid money will be back next Tuesday for Redcar? I have never ridden a bike or graded a track in my life, but In my present profession and past employment I have alway adopted the 6 P's, Prior Preparation Prevents Pi$$ Poor Performance. If as Greg has stated, that they had been there since midday and nothing was done until one hour before tapes up was schedule, have the Plymouth track team put in sufficient "preparation"?
    2 points
  38. More than Rory clearly! Why was Ritchie Worrall shaking his head after his laps??? Leon certainly wasn't happy! It's clear Jye wasn't either!! If that track wasn't safe to ride then why should they go out! People pay their money to see riders going full throttle for 15 heats.. that wasn't going to be the case if it had went ahead!! Like Greg said, just a half arsed effort from the Plymouth promotion... Why were they not there from midday doing everything they could?

  39. This practise of re-admission tickets only has been going on for years to be fair. I can remember going to Belle Vue once when JP was promoting, it was a fine evening & no issues were expected .However the riders were unhappy with an issue on 1st & 2nd turn which was described as being "like glass". After some work with the grader it was decided that Hans Nielsen would try a couple of laps. He did & gave it the thumbs down so the meeting was cancelled. Many bees fans decided to ask for their entrance fee to be returned, which was initially declined, but as a rather large contingent of fans congregated in the entrance areas & refused to leave the stadium before someone from the club eventually appeared with several money bags & duly refunded all the supporters . On the other hand I once experienced a situation at Swindon where a meeting was called off & we were all advised to keep our rain off tickets . I did this & decided to use it when I returned for the " new date ".So i turned up at the turnstiles only to be told that I needed to go to the big gates at the far end of the car park. When I gave the guy my rain off ticket he refused me entry stating that " I had missed the time frame for the re admission" , I explained I was a visiting fan & that i didn't get to Swindon regularly. He still refused, & then I had to argue my point with him for a few minutes before he decided to let me in. So as you can see this refund/re admission situation has been a mess for many years.

  40. Think the majority of the fans at the track and tuning in on BSN knew there was no chance of the meeting going ahead when saw the truck wasting fuel driving round. It should have been called off by the ref long before the meeting started. Will Plymouth complete their fixture before Christmas.Think they would close the doors tomorrow but they would lose their deposit.

  41. Imagine there’s a few Plymouth riders who’ll be wanting this season done so they can find a new base for 2024, shambolic to only prep 1hr before, if the promoter does the track and everything else then some delegation needed as a one man show will never work

  42. ... and it's turned into a Poole thread

  43. Not necessarily, just clever with words: "If anyone did want to make me an offer, I wish they would have put it in writing, because I would have accepted it if it was anything sensible." If an offer wasn't made in that fashion (or sensible according to him) and it was just texts, WhatsApp, whatever, or discussions then what he says does pass the smell test. One of the big bits missing for me is no explanation of why this fell down: "The only person who spoke to me about running the club, who I thought initially was going to be running it, was Michael Tomalin from City Auction Group, and he is the only person."
